You ever read one of those LitRPGs or Isekais where an 'All-Powerful' System integrates the planet? And it only takes a few minutes for the integration to happen? Usually, there is a whole bunch of loss of life either during or immediately afterward. And isn't it awfully convenient that the system is just oh-so-intuitive? That most people, while they don't all start climbing the ladder of power, still figure it out rather quickly?

Sure, not everyone survives the transition; usually, only 'X' percentage of the planet makes it over. But depending on the story, that 'X' can vary pretty widely.

Don't you ever wonder just how the System has managed to do that? To line things up so well that we can breathe the same air as the monsters or aliens that start showing up? That the skills work perfectly? That they are easy to use and understand, even with our 'new ways' of thinking?

Of course, the System usually tells you that it is just that strong. Or that it has seen this same thing hundreds of thousand of millions of times before. 'Oh, I am stronger than a GOD! In fact, I make them! Buwahahahahaha!'

What a load of hogwash! I'll tell you how it does it! I should know because that jerk did it to me! I'm one of the 'Beta Testers' they used before they decided to officially integrate the Earth.
How this Works New
Okay! Welcome one and all! Let's get started.

I am going to try and get this organized as best I can. We are going to start with basic game information. Then get into voting, discussion, and postings and how they are going to be handled.

Our character, Nakia (Nah-key-ah) Davids, have been brought to a special Beta Test world for the all powerful System.

You get to help form Nakia's choices as he progresses through this new world. Nakia will be starting at Level 0 with 3 Stats, 6 Starting Skills, and very little information.

For your knowledge:

Stats are fairly simple. Health, Stamina, and Mana. What these start at will be determined through the character creation process.
- Health is your over all ability to live.
- Stamina is your energy resource for your physical/biological based Skills and Abilities.
- Mana is your energy resource for your non-physical/magical/spiritual/etc based Skills and Abilities.
If any of these 3 reach 0, it may not be story over but it will have negative consequences for Nakia.

Starting at level 0 you will progress up to level 10. At which point you will evolve into a Level 0 of the new Race. Each time you evolve the required xp to level increases. But so does the amount of Skill Points [SkP] you earn at each level, the chances of unlocking better Skill options in the Skill Tree, potential Traits, and increased Stats and per level Stat Points [StP]. This happens every 10 levels.

It will be possible to unlock a Class or Profession later on. This would be a ways off, so how to do so will be kept to myself for now.

For the most part, this story is going to be very cinematic. AKA not everything is going to be rolled for. When rolls do come into play, they will be Success/Failure using percentage die. Modifiers from Skills will be applied, if applicable, with the target number being determined based off how difficult that roll is supposed to be. It will be stated before the roll is made if there will be any additional Benefits/Penalties applied based on how much the Success or Failure occurred.

Combat Damage is... a work in progress. But will be finalized before it will be officially utilized.

Speaking of! Patches! There very well may be the occasional Patch that the System decides to roll through. Usually this will be QM designated based on how things have gone. Occasionally a Vote may be held to utilize player feed back in modifying the issue with the winner becoming the Official Patch.

After Character Creation is completed, Postings will occur in the following order:
Story - The actual story bit that just took place.
Results - If any rolls, votes, etc, were applied to the above Story, what they were and the results of them will be mentioned here.
Options - The next set of options to be voted on.
Discussion - You all will have a 24 hour period to discuss. This will also be the time to talk about/iron out any potential Write Ins when utilized. This will not count as the Write In vote. This is also the best time to ask questions.
Voting - This is where you will Vote, including voting for the finalized Write In.

Rinse and Repeat.

I think that covers most of what I wanted to convey. A lot of the mechanics and the like will be explained during the next step: Character Creation. With others coming out through the story (aka figured out in game) and while the story progresses.

Mechanics and Rules New
Mechanics and Rules will be added here as they are introduced. An (OOC: Explanation) will be provided at the time of explanation, and then it will be added here for reference later on.

Overview:
Some abilities impose a Mana Lockout, temporarily reducing the Max Usable Mana (MUM) by reserving a portion of your total Mana. Locked Mana cannot be used until the ability is resolved or canceled. This mechanic requires strategic planning to manage your Mana pool effectively.

Mechanics Breakdown:
  1. Lockout Application:
    • When an ability with a Lockout is activated, a percentage of your total Mana is reserved and added to any existing locked Mana.
    • This reserved portion reduces your MUM, which is the amount available for casting spells or using other abilities.
  2. Cost Deduction:
    • After the Lockout is applied, the ability's Mana cost is deducted from your remaining usable Mana.
    • Example: If your total Mana is 824and you activate an ability with a 10% Lockout and a 50 Mana cost:
      • Step 1: Lock 10% of total Mana (82 Mana), reducing MUM to 742.
      • Step 2: Subtract the 50 Mana cost, leaving 692 Mana usable.
  3. Lockout Duration:
    • Mana remains locked until the ability is resolved (e.g., upon completion of a timer, action, or effect) or canceled by the player.
    • Once unlocked, your MUM returns to its full value, including any Mana recovered during the lockout period.

Example: Echoing Script
  • Activating Echoing Script imposes a 10% Mana Lockout and costs 50 Mana.
  • With a total Mana pool of 824:
    • Lockout (10%): Locks 82 Mana, reducing MUM to 742.
    • Mana Cost (50): Deducts 50 Mana, leaving 692/742 usable Mana.
  • The locked Mana (82) will remain inaccessible until the Copy Time is completed or the ability is canceled.

Important Notes:
  • Lockout mechanics affect your MUM, not your total Mana pool, which remains unchanged.
  • Locked Mana does not regenerate or contribute to active Mana recovery calculations during the lockout period.

Lore Compendium New
Lore Compendium

Bond: A symbolic vow of trust between two individuals—stronger than friendship, not necessarily romantic, and less binding than a Familiar bond. Often formed by long-term companions. Can fade or break over time if neglected. Demonstrates loyalty and shared commitment.
Initiate: An individual selected from a planet undergoing System evaluation.
Initiate Zone: A designated region where Initiates appear every century during the New Initiation cycle. Each zone marks the entry point for the latest group of off-world arrivals, placed there to begin their trials under the System's watchful eye.
Artifact: A potent magical item imbued with rare or ancient powers—sometimes even manifesting its own sentience. Artifacts are rarely forged, even by master crafters, and are most often discovered as high-tier Dungeon rewards or bestowed during Grand Events. Many lie scattered throughout the world, abandoned at the final resting place of their previous wielder, awaiting a new owner bold enough to claim them.
Dungeon: A naturally formed concentration of the world's latent energy, condensing into a self-contained realm full of hazards and mysteries. Each dungeon is anchored by a core, the source of its power and structure. Adventurers venture into dungeons to test their skills, gather resources, and claim rare rewards.
Event: A System-coordinated scenario—often presented as a quest, dungeon challenge, or Tower ascent—unfolding on either a local or global scale. Events serve as major trials or opportunities for growth, offering substantial rewards and shaping the world's balance of power.
Tower: A System-generated structure that functions similarly to a dungeon yet is deliberately created rather than formed by nature. Towers pose tiered challenges, with each floor designed to push participants' limits. Completion often grants powerful boons or unlocks higher-level content within the System.

Soul Shaping Stage 1 New
Hello and Welcome Initiate!

You have been selected to participate in Beta Test 21623811 of System V: 21546.25. I am your Alpha Tester Administrator for this rotation. You have been designated into a special category of Initiates! Whoa! That is some awe! Instead of being integrated in your current biological corpse, you will be integrated into a non-biological corpse! As you have been the first to be designated into this category – [[Error][Medical Override: 86Psi104 Designated – Terminal. Priority Testing – Confirmed.]] – As you are the fir-[ERROR] second to be designated into this category, you are allowed the special opportunity to choose between predetermined options.

Starting off, we will begin with:
What Are You!?
Plant – Animal – Monster – Object

Ah ah ah! You did not think it would be that easy did you? At this stage you have been granted 20 Soul Points.

What are Soul Points and what do you spend them on, you ask? I am glad you did! Soul Points are an arbitrary system of points I have created for the task of your Soul Shaping! Yay! Go me! While you do not need to spend Soul Points on your Racial Category, you will want to spend them on you Tier!

Not just your Racial Tier, but the Tiers for your Health, Stamina, and Mana as well! Each Tier costs a different number of points. Careful about spending all of your Soul Points now though, as you can save them to spend on the coming steps and phases of the Soul Shaping!

The Tiers are:
Base Tier – 1SP – You will have one heck of a time trying to survive! Everything will be stronger than you, and more than likely see you as an opportunity!
Common Tier – 2SP – You are the standard model! You will have a better chance at survival, but don't think you are out of the woods yet!
Uncommon Tier – 3SP – You are above the norm! Congratulations! You were made for survival and many things would at least hesitate before trying take you on!
Rare Tier – 4SP – Look out World! Here you come! You start out with a powerful aptitude.
Unique Tier – 5SP – While not a God, Artifact, or Lord of Hell, there is a good chance you are related to one! No one is going to want to get on your bad side!... Yet!

Since this is the first iteration of Initiates from your planet, I feel inclined to give you a little hint! Yes, starting off with a higher Tier will make you more powerful right off the chiroptera. While this does not have any inherent drawbacks, I will let you know that starting to save some of your Soul Points will be very beneficial for you!

---

Thank you all for reading the above and starting the Character Creation Process! Here is what it means! You are currently voting for the vessel into which you are being placed. Don't worry! You are not replacing something elses Soul! This body is being made especially for the Character, Nakia.

While you are not yet voting for what specifically Nakia is going to be, you are laying the ground work for it and it will be covered in the next few steps.

This first Vote is a Planned Vote, with Approval! For any newbies (such as myself) this means that even if you create a Plan (and vote for it), that you can vote for as many plans as you like. Please read over the Plan Titles and the Plans carefully, as their could be some variations. If you are not doing a flat choice across the board, such as in the example below, make sure to add 'Variation#' to the Plan so others can see the difference and it can be counted accordingly.

Here is an example of how you should lay out your Plan Vote:
[X] Plan: Common Monster [Variation # if applicable]
-[X] Race: Monster
-[X] Tier: Common
-[X] HP: Common
-[X] Stamina: Common
-[X] Mana: Common

And there we go! If you have any questions, or wish to discuss things, go for it! You have 24 hours to vote!
Voting Ends 23:00 EDT (11:00pm EDT) - 22/12/24 (Dec 22)

Soul Shaping Stage 2 New
Processing… Complete!

Soul Points Spent: 9
Soul Points Remaining: 11
Current Soul Shape:
Common Object
Health: 25
Stamina: 25
Mana: 800

Oh! Well, those are certainly some interesting developments. Let me take a look here. Very clever! I think I see where you are going with this.
It is time to begin Phase 2 of your Soul Shaping! Congratulations!

What Object Are You?
Glass Orb – Wooden Amulet – Leather-bound Book – Wand – Prayer Beads – Idol – [Write In]

I hope these option are to your liking. Look at that last one! Does it not look interesting? Oh me, oh my. So many choices. I hope you choose wisely!

Hmmm... HHMMM... I could, buuuut... It seems I have the authority to place you just anywhere. But where would the fun in that be! Plus, you still have some Soul Points to spend! So here are some options! You cannot blame me if you choose poorly, now can you?

Where Are You?
A Forgotten Place – 0SP – No one knows where you are! Not even you! It is old and drafty, and most likely a little damp. But who knows what forgotten power may have been left behind... as long as you find it, before it finds you!
A Hidden Place – 2SP – Much more secure, warm, and safe local! Chances are somebody knows where you are. If not, perhaps they can find you. I wonder if anything else got stashed here with you?
A Dead Place – 4SP – Let us face it! You are an object. And objects are meant to be wielded! Sadly, your last weilder did not seem to make it. Did they die in a dungeon? Or perhaps out on an adventure in the wilderness? Mayhaps they were stabbed in the back and left for dead? It just might be possible somebody finds you, takes you in, and puts you to use once more!... Right?
A Living Place – 6SP – What is this?! You are being wielded by a living being?! You are in object heaven! Oh, I see. But are you being weilded to the height of your potential? Or can they only see the surface behind which you hide?
A Learning Place – 8SP – "To sit in the lofty heights of academia is to hold a lantern in the dark; yet, what good is the light if it shines only for the few who climb?" And sit you do! On a shelf! High above it all. Where you can listen and watch the lessons meant for others. Where you can learn the right pronunciation, the correct cutting arc, the... anything! Oh the Skills you could learn!

What was that? I have not yet mentioned Skills? Uh oh... well. Not to worry. We will cover those next, after you assign your Place!
And do not forget! You have only 11 Soul Points left. Happy pondering!

---

Thank you all and welcome to Part 2 of Character Creation. At the very top we have the break down results of Part 1 Votes! As you can see, some very drastic differences! This is exciting!

Now we have our next Vote! What type of Object are you? Fairly straight forward, it does not cost any Soul Points. Instead you get to Vote for what type of Object. You can even Write In!
Just a quick ruling for the Write In Votes: Keep it Common. More specifically, common place. Nothing that is already inherently magical. Something that would be considered an every day tool or component for magic, such as a wand or crystal, would be appropriate. But not an Arcane Staff of Divine Smite or something. So, Keep it Simple. Keep it Common.

Next is Where are You! With Approval! Keep it Simple, Keep it Common. Give a basic idea of where you think may be a good local, or situation,
The ruins of a temple in the deep forest. A-OK! The mounted above the Imperial Throne in the Forsaken Keep of the Dread Lord Chipdale. No-no!

Vote for what ever catches your fancy here! Keep in mind, you have 11 Soul Points left and another Phase.

Example #1:
[x] Mortar and Pestle

[x] Plan: Herb & Knife
- [x] A Living Place - 6SP
- [x] A Local Apothecary

Example #2:
[x] Prayer Beads

[x] Plan: Forbidden Faith
- [x] A Hidden Place - 2SP
- [x] Under a Loose Floorboard

REMEMBER! Keep the What and the Where seperate. Same post is fine. You can even have them be related! But the What should not be included in the Planned: Where Vote.

You have 24 hours to discuss and Vote!
23:00 EDT - 23/12/24

I am so getting a promoti- Ah! You finished with Phase 2 of your Soul Shaping! Excellente! Bravissimo!

Ooo! It seems the language packs are starting to be intigrated. Oh, right. You. Phase 3 of the Soul Shaping is going to take a moment to set up.
You see, this is probably one of the more exciting Phases! In this Phase, you are going to get to pick your Skills! Well your starting Skills anyway. Of which you get SIX! That is one whole skill more then the natives, those born into the Beta World, rather than brought in like you.

The first three tend to be rather Basic. Usually these are the foundations and are based off what you start off as.

The next two are based off the rather indepth and quite long (and personal opinion, rather boring) Aptitude Test. This Soul Shaping is so much more fun and interesting, do you not think?

The final skill is supposed to be your Beta Test Skill. We assign these to incoming Initiates to test how... creative your species can get with them. Every species has a different culture and way of thinking after all! Not to mention - [PUNISHMENT ERROR] Oh... It seems I have gotten a demerit. Well...

Enough about that. It is going to take me a minute to compile a list of Skill options for you. Since you did not take the Aptitude Tests, you bypassed the automation. So I will have to do this by hand. Do not worry! I will pick out some good ones for you.

In the mean time, here is a list of Skills someon-[STERN ERROR] other! Uh... Here is a list of someOTHER Skills that are from a totally random assortment of possibilities. Perhaps they can help give you some ideas of what to look forward to? Hmm?

Growth - Level 1 - Description: The ability to accelerate personal growth by channeling mana, allowing controlled expansion and development.
Photosynthesis - Level 1 - Description: The ability convert sunlight into essential nutrients, allowing the user to sustain themselves and gradually regenerate mana and stamina.
Nutrient and Water Absorption - Level 1 - Description: The ability to draw nutrients from the soil, nearby organic matter, and water sources, absorbing vital minerals and nutrients needed for growth and health.

Pheromone Manipulation - Level 1 - Description: The ability to produce pheromones within a small radius.
Poison Production - Level 1 - Description: The ability to produce a mild toxin

Illusions - Level 1 - *Warning: Skill Granted without Prior [ERROR] - Description: The ability to create realistic and dynamic illusions that can affect the senses of others.

Now, let me get that list of Skill Options together...

---

Aka! I had to wait to see the final results before finalizing the Skill Options. I will have those ready to go tomorrow, 24/12/24 at 12:00 EDT (Dec 24th at 12pm).

In the mean time, feel free to use the sample skills above (that are totally not from another character) to discuss and theroize! Talk about and plan some potential Skills you would like to see? Potentially some cool combos!

Oh! And a heads up! Make sure to read the beginning of the Soul Shaping Stage 3: The Actual Stage very carefully tomorrow. Not only am I going to put in the details of how selection is going to work, but I am also going to give some pretty important hints about how the world works. A little meta-ish knowledge for you.

Soul Shaping Stage 3: The Actual Stage New
Earth was—and still is, I suppose—a rather curious world. While compiling the list of Skill Options for you, I came across a packet on your entertainment industry. Fascinating! Your people certainly are creative. Though, I must say, your belief that Health, Stamina, and Mana regenerate so easily is... optimistic. Some of your 'campfire' or 'rest' mechanics align more with reality, but entire Classes built around healing magic? Ha! Preposterous. Well, mostly. You are fortunate to begin with a Race instead of a Class. Hmm...

Ah, where was I? Oh, yes! Your Skills. I want you to think very carefully about your choices here. I have gone to considerable trouble to gather these for you. Normally, you would not even get to choose your Beta Skill! I have spoiled you, truly. It has cost me dearly, so you had better make it count. Remember: survival is paramount. Understood?

Here is how this will work: as I have mentioned before—hopefully, you were paying attention—you will start with 6 Skills.

The Fundamentals: Choose 3 Skills from the Base or Common Tiers.
The Aptitude: Choose 2 Skills from the Base, Common, or Uncommon Tiers.
The Beta: Choose 1 Skill from any Tier, including Unique.

This initial selection does not cost you any Soul Points. Inherently. However, based on tests with your fellow Initiates, I have noticed your kind has a penchant for power-greed. We want you to survive—that is the goal of the Beta World, after all! So, here is what I will allow:

For Fundamentals: Spend 3 SP to choose an Uncommon Skill.
For Aptitudes: Spend 5 SP to choose a Rare Skill.

You can already choose up to Unique for the Beta, so I will leave that temptation as is. Bear in mind, you only have 9 Soul Points left, and I have a very special surprise awaiting you in the final phase of your Soul Shaping. Let me know when you have made your selections, yes?

This Sanctuary is unique in that it also sharpens the mind and soothes emotional distress, encouraging clarity and focus for studying or spellcasting.
    • • Archives - Level 1
      • • Description: This ability can extend your presence subtly into the surrounding space, creating an ethereal impression of shelves, scrolls, or even imaginary tomes in a small radius. • • Echoing Script - Level 1
      • • Description: This ability allow you, when you are placed near another book, scroll, or written text, to absorb its contents into your own pages. This creates an exact copy of the text within you.
I see you noticed the lack of information. Hehehe.
Each Admin does things differently, hence the varience in available information. But even still, there are limitations on what we are allowed to share.
---

Alright! Down to the meat and potatoes.

I will admit, I've struggled in how to structure this vote. But I think I have a good idea for it. There are 3 Votes Present! The Fundamentals, the Aptitudes, and the Beta. These will each be planned votes. So make sure to do one for each of the three types! The layout will be as follows.

Plan has been Edited, see Below!**

Ah, you are finished? Already? My, my, you do work quickly, do you not? Not quite what I expected... but no matter! This can still work. Oh yes, I can make this work.

The Overseer has decided to "turn-their-gaze-elsewhere", if I am using your 'air quotes' properly, for the time being. Major trauma always has a way of... complicating evaluations. I pity the Admin who has that type of Initiate. It is actually a stroke of fortune for us, would you not agree?

Now, we have got a little space to make the most of this situation. Here is the essence of it: the longer you endure, the better your results, and the better your results, the better mine look. And as for the rewards... well, let us just say it could be spectacular. But I must not get ahead of myself—oversharing could be risky, even with the Overseer's attention elsewhere.

Ah, here you are—5 additional Soul Points!

No need to give me that look. While I am benevolent, kind, and exceedingly generous, I should warn you—you earned these. Remember when you chose a Hidden Place as your starting location? That was no ordinary decision; it came with a hidden... well let us call it a reward. Survival with adversity, after all, is the name of the game, and foresight deserves to be... rewarded.

Now to actually begin Phase 4 of your Soul Shaping! No time to dawdle now—this is where things get interesting. Before you is a list of options, each brimming with potential and benefits tailored to you. However, each comes at its own cost in Soul Points, and here is the catch: you can only select each option once. So, weigh your choices wisely. Quickly, yes, but not recklessly. Every decision shapes may-ah-your destiny!

Current Soul Points: 14

One final thing. Any Soul Points you do not spend, up to 3SP, will be converted into experience for you. I have set the automation and programed your destination. As soon as you confirm your choices, your soul will be placed in its new corpse.

---

A lot going on in this one. It is a chance to spend the remainder of your Soul Points for some extra goodies. Rather simple Planned Vote, with Approval!

After this we are going to get started with the actual story. At the end of the vote time I will do a final recap of the vote and the finalized character sheet. Shortly there after we will get into the first section of story!

As always, feel free to ask any questions and have some discussions.
Voting Ends:
