It is the beginning of a Golden Era for the Continent of Europe, after many centuries being relegated to the backwater, of commerce, or history, and of Greatness. Constantinople, the City the World desires, had fallen to the Ottoman Turks, and their conquests nearly fifty years prior. The Black Death as it is so-called, and the great plagues have decimated the populations of Europe.

Millions lay dead. Yet the survivors flourish, in a world that is now in front of them.

Commerce flourishes in the great cities of Italy, as the great merchant republics, the banking families, and mercenaries that seek its fortunes. Controlling cities, Lands, and even the Church itself.

And to the West, there is a New World, ripe for conquest, for Trade. For Empire.

Original Characters are few and far between, and their adventures can never affect history in such a way they won't replace another name. Your actions, if you become powerful enough to shape history, however, will cause changes, but never enough to take off from the path that history will follow. Special Traits are Locked out.)

When you were born, the stars were aligned for that of the Princes of the World. The Heavens burned with the stars of the great flashing of stars and their heavenly gaze.

When you were born, nothing was expected of you, as all things were, you were of lower birth, with signs that were meant for princes.

In which our Hero must decide what he remembers his family for, and if they have a worthy legacy to carry on.​

When you were born, your birth was that of an omen. The cross on your cheek was all some needed to think you were blessed by God and his Angels. Your mother was showered in praise, yet you were not so lucky.

They had expected much from you. Not your parents, they had been ones who were prepared to keep you safe and secure, as parents were. As much as they could, until they were gone, and you were forced to live alone.

But that was not what you remember of them, at least not always.

You remembered your Father and mother as:

[]A Scheming Bankers: Your Father was one of the wealthiest bankers in the Post Medici Florence, using the glut and the power vacuum that the family getting exiled out into the World to gather great wealth and power. But even his newfound power, and that of his influential friends, he could not be saved from vengeful assassins, agents of the Medici who sought the weakest link. They were murdered. But you are now under the care of your father's longtime assistant, a man whose loyalty is absolute, at least to his new young master. Vicente.


Pros:
-Begin with a home in the city, and wealth that your father had saved, along with assets in the city that you can call upon.
-Have a Loyal Servant, Vicente, to rely upon to protect you and to help you.
-Access to Education of numerous kinds.

Cons:
-Target of the Medici's Wrath. They wish to destroy any and all who had exiled them from their beloved Florence.
-Your Young Age means that the cities elite wishes to subvert you, steal your wealth, or kill you
-Assassins still wish to end you, as they wish to not return till you are dead.


[]Masterful Artisans: Your Father and mother were just ordinary craftsmen, however, they were skilled ones, versed in blacksmithing, architecture, and even Gunsmithing, perhaps even the best in Florence, even the best in Italy, if some were bold. They had been working until he was murdered, a rival shooting him and your mother as they returned from a meeting with one of the new leaders of the city. Two pistols right in the heart. The Murderer was going to kill you, but his weapon misfired, and the guards saved you. Now you were alone, in an empty workshop, and so many plans.

Pros:
-Certain stats and skills (Intelligence, engineering, and Marksmanship) Can be set to 10 during stat allocation.
-Begin with a Workshop, Material, Plans, and second-hand knowledge.
-Reputation of your father's work. Even the great nobles of Europe are watching you with interest.

Cons:
-A Ticking Clock: Your father's enemies wish to seize your workshop, and finish the job of destroying your family.
-Your Wealth is very limited and you are losing much every day, without income.

[]Brigands: Your Father was a Criminal. That much was certain. He loved to steal, take, and o provide for his family. He did not care so much about who he took from, only that he acted with honor and with restraint. Mother was a pickpocket, being able to fleece anyone with charms and wit, never harming anyone, and even returning some money when it was appropriate They were good people. Their captors did not believe in such things. They cut father's head off. And then they killed mother, her body breaking before her spirit. You were alone. A Stain on the world.

Pros:
-You are well versed in the seedy side of Florence.
-The Local Crimelords respected your parents, and for a time, will keep you safe.
-You have some of your father's favors to call in.
-Athletics and Subterfuge can be set to 10 on stat allocation

Cons:
-The local crime boss wishes you to join the fold soon.
-Some Favors might not be called in.
-The Guard will do everything in their power to get you arrested and exiled.
-Mother was very… known. And people will think twice in trusting you.

It wasn't long before you saw them buried, their grave and tombstones being simple masonry, the rush job from one of your father's great friends, now finally giving them away to rest in peace. There was something elegant in the simplicity of the grave. Mother's tombstone had a few flowers that were among the decorations.

The funeral was a small one. The members who were friends, or fellows of the duo of craftsmen, your parents were few and very far between. They were busy, paying their respects in the night before they were buried.

Even the Priest had come rather reluctantly. If only to be the one who was able to oversee your parent's ascension to heaven, to the Heavenly Father, before his bishop could possibly do it. Politics of the church were not your understanding, but you were not blind. This death was a tragedy not just for you, but for the men who would now be lost without their commissions.

Pistols, swords, metal etchings, the like. Your Parents were renowned around Europe for their greatness.

"Luciano" Your name was spoken by a man who rummaged his way through the crowd, and you realized it was the great man himself, the great painter of the city. Michelangelo, Il Divino, a man who was not a friend by and means of your family. But he was an associate, perhaps not for any weapons or decorations, but of metalworking and other tools for his sculptures and his architectural designs. "I see that life has not been kind to you child, to rob you as it has." He placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder. "Is everything alright child?"

"They were murdered." You whispered. "And such vileness and pettiness of jealousy. I now know why Envy is one of the gravest of sins."

Your mother and father's enemies were dragged before the judges two days ago, their trials swift, brutal, but the justice was not far done.

All but one walked away with minor punishments. And even the one who was seen as the ring leader was exiled to the countryside, to another city most likely.

Justice had not been done. It had only been a farce to make the city feel better. And to make sure the city did not lose more revenue from craftsmen and tradesmen declaring war on one another.

The Divine one was not so pleased. "It would be the best child, that you remember where you are at, at this holy place?"

"Are you talking to me for that reason sir?" You asked.

The Divine one sighed. "I wanted to pay my respects to two people who helped me. I hope you understand that much."

You nodded. "I do, but I'm just angry."

"Believe in the gifts they have given you. What you have learned from them. And trust the Holy Father to give you guidance." He then ruffled your hair. "God be with you."

"And may He be with you, Michelangelo." You replied.

The Workshop was quiet when you returned. The sounds of the great forge battering, the sound of industry and progress. It was quiet.

The Forge was still lit, still burning, despite your lack of work with it. You had kept it going.

Just as you had to keep going.
