I don't want to risk Reggie since we can't heal them and I don't think there is enough space to go around.

[X] Reggie: Hide and stand by for healing when fight is over.
[X] Dreg: Stealth your way closer, hide behind one of those hills, and when you see an opening, go for the kill.

hey so, im not feeling ravenous corps anymore, and that fucking sucks again. I know what happened this time and its me, overpulling my strings and complicating the stupidity that I make.

Simply put top down takes too many resources for me to feel its acceptable with what I make, like I feel bad when the arms turn around and are the wrong way around for the form that they have.

Like if I know the red skeleton hand is the right hand and I flipped the sprite and its the left hand, I get pissed with myself.

top down has this problem for me.

and I feel like a hack fraud if I do the "flipped turnways" joke from homestuck.

there are stupid distinct rules to my madness.

There's a part of me that wants to make a quest that's just game assets, like not do my "constant little emotions" changes, because game assets don't have infinite little emotional changes.

The quest in essence would be playing the game, a game that could be made into an actual fucking game if a coder had their services purchased or presented, so... This in turn constricts the quest to only be, as said, game assets, and the strength of my writing would have to sell more than the little facial twinges or whatever.

my head is also latched unto the sentence "If you're tired of starting over, stop giving up" but that's just another toxic positivity spin that I can hurt myself with...

I think the majority of us would be okay with anything you make, be it this quest or another thing entirely, you are very talented and everything you have done until now is awesome!

I don't understand how you can be so nice about it. Here I am abandoning another project because of my "difficult fee-fee-feelings" and just, I know im making it for free but also there is contractual work to the creation of stories, you owe your readers payoffs, you owe them *something* instead of whatever endless nothing I create!

What worth is talent when it is endlessly wasted?

Speaking just for myself... you don't owe anyone here anything.

I'm not really sure how to articulate myself here, but I don't think you should see your endeavors as contractual or anything - sure, it might be upsetting that it didn't conclude, but while it was going on, I had a lot of fun reading and watching and even voting a little. Not all stories conclude - that's just life. I think I would rather follow to see how many different ideas you can have than force you to continue something you don't enjoy anymore.

You're a person with your own problems and feelings and I wouldn't dare to tell you how to feel, but I think it's valid to think about yourself first. Your talent isn't an art-dispensing machine for an audience, it's something you should feel comfortable using as you wish and when you wish.

I really hope this doesn't come across as a stranger lecturing you about your own feelings, I just think you should do as you wish.
 
@Dexexe1234 Have you considered copying @Tam Lin and rahashing their hyper simplified copy-paste Binary Quest formula?

Remember that a endless white void with tessalated hexes is always more desirable than a cluttered backdrop, for the exact same reason Slenderman is more popular than Ben Drowned.
One has a face.
The other has no face.

Ravenous was a good effort in that direction: the gruesome off-model styling meant that anything could be anything, because nothing was familiar until it was made familiar by interaction, but that is more fit for a Metroid Prime game than a quest.

Ravenous really felt Metroid, now that I think about it. It is a good feeling.

I have a hard time parsing what you're saying here... Tam Lin's works have different priorities than my works, the white void was because it was about the creation and fusion of the little binary creatures, where I make explorable worlds and like...

Oh fuck naw. Dude your "fee fee feelings" are why we get ANY story stuff in the first place. A half dozen abandoned stories isn't "wasted", even no stories isn't wasted. Because you took the time to learn and build that talent. Plenty of stories get dropped. Like 99% on this site, and that's okay. Don't let perfect b the enemy of good. You don't owe use jack shit

I also want to note that I don't think @Menthewarp's advice is very applicable to you since you are already capable of more minimalist art. Like you have already done something like what I think they are proposing with C.R.A.F.T. for example.

That being said I wonder,
What part of drawing motivates you the most/drains in the creative process. Are you for example like me, in that you like to create new original concepts and that your motivation drains by spending all the energy on world building.

it's actually chronic depression, anxiety personality disorder, C-PTSD, degenerated frontal cortex and emotional neglect that's spawned my perfect cocktail of anhedonia and perfectionism and it sucks shit.

the part that motivates me is actually people talking in the threads, communication, being told how it impacts them, seeing people's emotions expressed. The most draining part is, well, perfectionism as a whole. I am still fighting that demon all the time.

If it means anything I have never been disappointed with any of your work before since its all so wonderful and unique compared to other things I see most of the time.

At the same time, that very uniqueness reduces audience discussion and participation.
Like, imagine if he went full unoriginality and did something with Starwars, Exalted, or god forbid Fate/Grand Order!
The audience participation would be endless, and filled with salty storms!

Dude, you don't create nothing. Every time you put your pen to the tablet, write a sentence, you create something. If I have to be honest, everything you create fills me with inspiration. If it wasn't for you and your "difficult fee-fee-feelings" I probably wouldn't have the same love for art and interactive storytelling as I do now.

Oh please! This is Dex we're talking about here! If I know anything about him he'll probably make up some new system for something or crate a new concept in it, and make it stand out. I honest to god don't think unoriginality is a possibility for this guy.

Also, *an art Starwars, Exalted, or Fate/Grand Order quest by my favorite quest author* *Dex's 10/10 monster girls*

I can't speak for other people, but I don't resent you for stopping or anything. It was a fun ride while it lasted.
Hell, the vast majority of quests peter out before the end; it's not like you're any LESS successful than average.
