Raising Heaven- A FFXIV/Exalted Crossover

1. Suck up all the light Aether on the first into the Ebon Dragon's shadow.
2. Angle it in such a way that it blasts him in his face.

No downsides!
I mean, it's absolutely guaranteed to get the attention of the Ebon Dragon and quite possibly the others in regards to where the hell all that Light came from. Especially if they notice that it doesn't inherently despise their existence like what should have been Solar Essence did. Corrupt them yes, but not burn them any more than focused light does to anything else.

And honestly, the corruptive factor of it is going to get all of the Ebon Dragon's attention. Because that's his shtick damnit, and Sol Invictus is not allowed to take it! Wait, it wasn't his light...

The Ebon Dragon going in to another universe is terrifying. The Ebon Dragon discovering that this other universe has ways to beat his bitch ass like a drum? Hilarious.

a lot of things can beat the Ebon Dragon however he is a coward and wont get in that sort of combat in the first place. they prefer to ruin things from the shadows.

The Lotus Stand; No Fire Ducks
When they arrived back at Gridania, there was a large compliment of elezen with wooden spears waiting for them. Wood Wailers, Ragna addressed them as, and they escorted the two of them through Old Gridania and into the Lotus Stand, where a young girl with an impressive staff stylish white dress apparently ruled this place. Heiyu, the chocobo, had gone off to do whatever giant terror birds do.

Ebeli was silently fuming. This was an amazing mistake on her part, and she normally holds herself to higher standards than this. She is used to being in control, used to being right. Her own Virtues, her own mindset, demanded as much, and she deeply, deeply wanted to give the Elementals whose favor she was trying to earn a piece of her mind.

But she had her All-Encompassing Sorcerer's Sight on, and got a look at just what the Elementals were, and promptly discarded that idea. Moreso than the power of the girl, she can see the power of the Elementals. She can see their true form, invisible as they are to the naked eye. She can see their true shape- not the extensions they would use to appear in the physical world, but the sheer size of them, the raw power at their command.

She understands why they call them the Elementals. Because beings like this require a proper 'The' before their names.

Like 'The Kukla' back on her world, which this is definitely reminding her of.

Ebeli remains wisely silent and lets Ragna speak.

"…so the summary of it is that the Couerlclaws attacked first and Ebeli defended herself. If you want to blame anyone for the forest fire, it would be the poachers."

Kan-E-Senna turns from Ragna to Ebeli, a brief glance looking her up and down, assessing her. "Do you have anything to add?" she asks, her voice level, understanding, patient.

Ragna glances at Ebeli, expecting some sort of verbal shovel to dig the hole deeper.

"I sincerely apologize for my part in this and it will never happen again," Ebeli responds. Ragna cocks an eyebrow, nods, and turns back to the Seedseer.

"If the Elementals would allow it, I request that Ebeli be remanded to my custody during her visits to the Black Shroud."

The beings- the impossibly large, somehow sane, all powerful beings- stare directly at Ebeli and she tries to avert her gaze. But fails, for these are things that are beyond her, far more powerful than her, and not to be trifled with.

"The Elementals know you and trust you, Warrior of Light," Kan-E-Senna says, "They agree. Ebeli will not be otherwise punished or exiled from the Black Shroud, as long as she remains in your custody."

Ragna bows. Ebeli does as well, and follows Ragna as the two of them walk up the path towards Gridania proper.

"We're leaving," Ragna says.

"Where are we going?" Ebeli asks, "Assuming I'm going with you?"

"You assume correctly," the viera says, slowing down so Ebeli can walk beside her, "We're going to Vesper Bay, and in particular the Waking Sands. Minfilia wants to talk with you. Sky will meet us there."

Ebeli nods. Then cocks her head. Then turns to Ragna. "You know where Sky is?"

"We've been following you," Ragna responds, without an ounce of hesitation.

"That's fair. We are an unknown, out of context issue."

"And you nearly burnt down the Twelveswoods." There is a smirk on Ragna's face as they enter the Aetheryte plaza. "You first, I'll follow."

Ebeli sighs, much like a child with her hand caught in a cookie jar. "Please don't tell Sky I got shot with an arrow."

"I promise nothing. Let's go."

Ebeli mutters under her breath and extends a hand to the Aetheryte.

No, no, Luna's his mount. You'd have to farm Luna to get the rare drop mount.
... Honestly, considering just how damn good the people of Hydaelyn are as survivors, I really wonder what Luna would think if she visited. I mean, these are the people who had an era-ending disaster happen five years ago. One that reshaped the world. Yet they have almost entirely rebuilt from it already, even if they are still adapting to it. Said disaster was the seventh and civiliation is still going strong. Sure, the old civilisations typically fall in the disaster though that looks to be because they are the ones that trigger it (or at least, one of the two actions that trigger it tends to be by the existing civilisations) but they rise again in the aftermath every time.

Luna would love these people. Absolutely all of them.

Gaia would love the environment, because it's so very, very deadly.

Just stumbled across this. I was going to say, "Well, at least there's no Green Sun Princes here," and then not only do one of the Solars mainline Demon Summoning, but she's got one of the higher ranking ED Demons working for her. And this hasn't massively bitten them in the ass yet?

On the other hand, the total panicking shitfit the Ascians must be going through makes me cackle quietly. Because there's outside context problem, and then there's Exalts. I suppose they should consider themselves lucky they didn't wind up with any Alchemicals or Abyssals running around.

Either way, this is going to be a grade A clusterfuck, and I'm here for it.

Hey now, the Ebon Dragon's betraying and adversarial nature means even his own subsouls hate his guts. And Erembour is, out of all things, a courtesan, and that means she would both take checks and also work really well with people who treat her with the respect she deserves.

It also means she may cause mass chaos in Doma by kidnapping Yotsuyu and training her to be a proper courtesan through intensive therapy and coursework, but that's another thing entirely.

In my defense, I only have very broad knowledge of Exalted, so the finer details frequently escape me; good to know that Erembour, while a major potential source of chaos, isn't automatically stuck as malicious source of chaos. And honestly, her bailing out Yotsuyu...well, there aren't many people who would be a worse guardian than that [CENSORED]. Erembour could make things worse, but if she doesn't have to, then maybe that poor woman will have a happier ending to her tale.

*Grinding Sounds of a Derailing Train*
The Waking Sands is a clubhouse built beneath a reputable café in the port city of Vesper Bay. That the Scions have their hideout here gives Ebeli ideas, because there are a plurality of places in Revenant's Toll that they could use, in addition to the fact that Revenant's Toll is currently protected by the people she and Sky have recruited, and who Sky has subsequently trained with his training charms. So, if anyplace, they would be safe there.

There is the underlying tension in the place. Some sort of malaise, a worry, but she does not pry. Rather, she sits in a nice wooden chair at a table underneath the café, sipping tea as the single most adorable girl brings over a plate of cookies.

Ebeli is a triplet. She has two sisters, and many, many other sisters as her mother was dragonblooded. One of those sisters is a gigantic beyotch, but her other sister is the most adorable girl she ever met. Until now.

"Would you like more tea?" the girl asks, curtsying with a smile and a tip of her adorable pink hat.

"Tataru, I'd like some too." The cat woman from earlier walks over to the table. She smiles at Ebeli, before pulling over a chair and sitting across from her. "The others will be along momentarily. Y'shtola."

"Ebeli," the redhead says with a smile, "So, the Fresco."

"I was curious who that was," Y'shtola responds, cocking an eyebrow, "Her looked very much like a Hyur, but the four arms were…"

"The Unconquered Sun." Ebeli sips her tea. "He's a god that is worshipped where I come from. Very worthy of worship and praise. And like I said, I was bored."

"I see," Y'shtola says, sipping her freshly arrived tea.

The door to the underground clubhouse opens. She hears the familiar sounds of Ragna's heavy boots, and the equally familiar sounds of Sky's leather boots, and smiles in relief.

"…and she also got shot in the shoulder with an arrow."

And then curses the bunny woman. Sky runs into the room, slamming the door open. Ragna ambles in, resting her axe across her shoulders.

"You didn't have to tell him," Ebeli pouts.

"You didn't have to set the Twelveswoods on fire, but here we are."

Sky has rushed over, questions coming out like a blur. Ragna explains that no, there are no scars because she has healing magic, which itself gets more questions for some reason. Alphinaud has joined the festivities, watching impassively. Which is when they hear three sets of footsteps coming down the stairs and the doors open once again.

At the head of the group is Erembour, her parasol by her side and with a satisfied expression on her face when she sees Ebeli and Sky.

"Sorcerer."

"She's your sorcerer?"

The second person is very similar in appearance to Alphinaud, save that she is currently wearing a frilly black dress, black high boots, and a black jacket that goes past her waist.

"Alisaie?" Alphinaud stammers out.

"Brother," Alisaie says with a smirk, "Good, you're here. You need to be here for this."

Alpinaud immediately launches into questions. Ebeli tilts her head, rises up, and walks over to Erembour.

"You said you were off to Dalamud," she says, "What happened there, and I assume the girl is your mentee?"

"Indeed. And we require your help as well."

Ebeli makes a gesture with two open hands. The universal gesture of needing clarification. Or for milking invisible cows.

Clarification that comes when the third of the group, a man in black and his features hidden by a hood places a hand on Alphinaud's shoulder and says something. He reaches up and pulls back the hood. Ebeli can absolutely see the resemblance, making the connection of why Alphinaud goes immediately silent. For the man is an elezen, an older elezen with receding white hair and a vermillion symbol upon his forehead. Chairs drop to the floor when everyone present immediately stands up.

The entire room goes silent, save for Alphinaud choking out a question.

"Grandfather?"

Erembour turns from the older man and back to Ebeli.

"So," she says, "I should start at the beginning…"

Uh. Even for exalted the dead stay dead. So, either a ghost of some kind or alisaie learned her shadowbringer super broken skill early.

The exalts have been able to take Primals to task in surprising ways before. If they could separate Louisox from Phoenix, I could see how he'd manifest in the world safely, even if dead.

By Exalted rules the dead stay dead, but Hydaelyn plays by her own rules and not in the loose cannon who's damned good at doing her job way so we don't need to ask for her gun and badge.

Methinks someone found the dragon in the centre of the Binding Coils of Bahamut, ripped it apart, salted the pieces and put them in a barrel, caught Phoenix, and used both as a gift to Hyedalyn while asking nicely for a "little thing" back while thinking gleefully about how it would mess up even more of Bahamuts works? Done right, Hyedalyn is at somewhere between half and full tank now while Louisouix is either a ghost with clearance to come and go as he wants or flat out resurrected. The last would probably cost less in the long run, not to mention be a better gift in return, so there's a good chance that's what Hyedalyn went for.

From the Exalted side... Beating up a legendary monster or two to get one resurrection kinda sounds like a good deal? Certainly not a bad one.

I got the impression during Coils that Louisouix, as a Primal, could manifest via the prayers of the people of Eoreza. Which is part of the reason he made sure to turn himself into a Primal as the last choice with NO witnesses. So he could have resurrected, then been separated from Phoenix.
