Howard: Regroup and Avoid

Weston: Point Blank Shot

Olly: Avoid

Ghaiogrilb: FEED!

Ana Support:

I'll get the new update in either Late Friday or Early Saturday.

Maths. Let me know if I missed anything:

Howard + Olly: 25 (Howard) + 62 (Olly) + 15 (Avoid) + 20 (Tranquil) +25 (Zen) + 10 (DODGE) - 10 (Lamia) - 5 (Injury) = 142

Weston: 88 + 10 (Training) + 40 (Annihilator) + 15 (Weponary) - 45 (Tendrils) = 108

Ghaiogrilb: 78 + 50 (Feed) + 80 (FEED!) + 30 (Eldritch) + 45 (Tendrils) - 40 (Amulet) - 76 (Ana Support) = 167

The Battle Pt. 4
Ghaiogrilb loses 100 Stability due to Eternal Hunger!

It starts off fine.

You jog over to Olly's position while using hand gestures to communicate your plan. She nods at you, slithering over to a point where you can meet and hide within the shadow of a wall. Weston, gritting his teeth, jumps straight at the eldritch monster yet again. He reloads his weapon mid-air, the spent casing smoking as they hit the ground. He aims it at the monster as he falls to make sure he doesn't miss.

The creature doesn't move, it merely vibrates even faster

You and Olly are halfway to each other.

She reaches out a hand and you do the same.

Howard + Olly: 25 (Howard) + 62 (Olly) + 15 (Avoid) + 20 (Tranquil) +25 (Zen) + 10 (DODGE) - 10 (Lamia) - 5 (Injury) = 142

Weston: 88 + 10 (Training) + 40 (Annihilator) + 15 (Weponary) - 45 (Tendrils) = 108

Ghaiogrilb: 78 + 50 (Feed) + 80 (FEED!) + 30 (Eldritch) + 45 (Tendrils) - 40 (Amulet) - 76 (Ana Support) = 167

Then it screams.

It's not the same as when you put the amulet on it. That scream was only one of pain and surprise. Of the sudden feeling of vulnerability that you enforced upon it.

No, this one was angry.

Angry at the world for forcing it to endure something it had never experienced before.

Angry at the ones who dared to inflict this pain upon it.

Angry at you for attaching the thing keeping it chained to its chest.

But, beyond all that, beneath every high-pitched vibration of the blighted organs that passed for its vocal cords, there was one more thing.

One, solitary thing that caused it to do this. That caused it to go this far and be this angry. To want you all dead so badly.

Anger at the Hunger gnawing away at it.

Weston is the first to go. Tendrils fly faster than he can see or move past. He dodges the first swipe, but a second one smacks him to the ground. He tries to stand before a third tendril knocks him up and into a far wall. One more slams through the wall just above his head, trapping the man beneath a pile of rubble.

Then they come for you.

Too many tendrils to count head your way just as you reach Olly. You can smell the rancid breath being expelled by the rapidly chewing mouths. Your brain kicks into overdrive. You look for any weak point, any way you can get past them. Going above them won't work, there's no gaps to slip through, you won't be able to get enough momentum to slide under them, the wall is a no go because-

You feel a soft hand grip your arm.

It pulls you around.

And next thing you know you're on the ground while Olly is pressing down on you from above.

You can't see anything from under her, but you can certainly hear. You struggle to move, to try and find some way to get away from the oncoming attack completely.

The smell of sulfur fills the air for a split second.

It's enough.

The tendrils smash into the wall behind you. The worst of the debris that falls avoids you and Olly, but enough lands to cause you and the lamia to grunt in pain. You feel some ribs move out of place and curse under your breath at the sharp pain.

The two of you ride out the rest of the attack on the ground. The ground rumbles and you hear stone falling to the ground. Dust gets kicked up all around you, making you cough as the sand fills your lungs. Then, as soon as it began, it's over.

You feel Olly slither off you. It hurts to get up, but you stand up. You hold your left side when a sharp pain flairs deep within your body. Two of your ribs are broken, but neither have pierced your lungs. It still hurts to breath if only because your diaphragm is bruised as well.

(Howard: Loses 20 HP, Broken Ribs, -10 Penalty to rolls)

"Are you...ok...Howard?" the lamia's raspy voice makes you look her way.

Even in your Zen state of mind, you can't stop the icy cold rage that wells within you at the sight.

(Olly lose 40 HP (was 20, but she took 20 for you), Broken Arm, Bruises, slight Internal Bleeding, -20 Penalty to rolls, Out of Commission for 1 Update)

She's a mess. Her auburn hair is filled with dust and rocks. Her face has cuts and bruises everywhere, while her right arm is bent at a bad angle. Her left is fine, but its busy holding her stomach. Many of her bones are broken, and she might have some internal bleeding based on the small trickle leaving the side of her mouth. What's worse though is her breathing. It's raspy, shallow, and not getting her enough oxygen.

Quickly but gently, you pick her up by her good arm and begin looking around. The entire arena has been devastated. None of the walls are left standing, the chairs have fallen to the floor, and only the stair to the surface remain untouched. The creature, apparently, still had the presence of mind to realize how important those were to its worshippers. Or maybe it just missed them. Either way, the only thing you can do for Olly right now is place her behind a large enough pile of rubble to keep her out of the fight.

The entire time her eyes are looking at you with a mixture of worry and sadness. You pat her on the head, but that only makes it worse. She tries to move her body only to fall back to the ground. She looks at you and rasp out a, "Sorry, Howard. I...I can't..."

"It's ok," you keep patting her head, "you've done enough. You just rest. Leave the rest to me. Ok?"

You don't stand until she nods and wishes you luck.

Then you stand and start to walk out from behind the rubble. The eldritch is still in the middle of the room, looking as docile as it did when you first came in. You start moving forward until a leg moves into your path.

You look up and see Weston, his body covered in blood and dust, but his shotgun still held firmly in his hands.

(Weston: Loses 60 HP, No Penalties)

"Craft," his voice isn't the same as before. It's filled with a hard edge that comes from a life fighting for years upon years. You can't describe it or say you understand it, because you just can't. You'd have to live through exactly what he did to even try to reach him.

You nod in answer, getting him to continue, "I'm not out yet. I have one more thing up my sleeve. Thing is though, I don't want to use it. So, I'm taking a gamble."

He just about rips your hand off your body as he tugs you closer to him. His right hand grips yours tight enough to break your fingers. The only time you've felt something similar was from Volkar. However, something is different about it. As he grips your hand you start to feel focused. Your Zen like state increases, your mind starts to race even faster at the information its processing. The icy rage you felt magnifies until you're sure your blood has frozen over.

You look deep into Weston's eyes and he says with absolute conviction, "I'm betting everything on you, Craft. Take this thing down. Don't make me use my trump card. Please."

(Temporary Perk Obtained! The Marine's Belief: Gain the effects of Mythic Annihilator and Survivor, as well as a +35 to all currently active Belief Perks and +55 Damage to any attacks made! Only last for one Update)

Weston lets go of your hand and starts to step away, "1 minute. That's all I'm giving you."

You don't say anything.

Cause you don't need to.

You've got a fight to win.

You step forward.

The eldritch lifts its head up, more black skin sloughing off it onto the ground. You can tell that it hurt itself in the strike. It wasn't trying to feed on anything. It was just lashing out. Attacking anything that it could see as an enemy.

That was a mistake.

Cause it is still hurting.

And still Hungry.

(Ghaiogrilb loses 70 Hunger)

One minute.

Let's go.

Current Situation:

You: Medium Distance. Broken Ribs (-10 Penalty). Belief in your Veins. Desperate. Ready. 75/100 HP Actions: 1

Weston: Far Distance. No Penalties. Trump Card is Ready. Actions: 1

Olly: Out of Commission for 1 Update

Ghaiogrilb: Hungry. Angry. Dying. Stability: 295/1,500. Hunger: -75/100; Actions: 1 (1 Locked Due to Eternal Hunger)

Suffering Eternal Hungery Penalties: Loss of 1 Action, -65 to all Rolls, Will lose 200 Stability at the Start of next Update.

What is your plan?

[] Charge. No other plan needed. (+20 to your Roll)
[] Defend. It won't bring you down, even if it did hit you. (-20 to Enemy Roll)
[] Tire it out. It's dying. Slowly, but it's dying. If you can just keep it up for a bit longer...(+10 to your roll, but +20 to Hunger)

[] Write in….

Hope this is good guys. My brother's sleeping and I didn't want to miss my deadline. Normally, he would've helped me read over it to see if it's good or if I should change something. But, this time the story was at the mercy of me.

Hope the part with Weston doesn't feel contrived or anything. That's my biggest worry really. Also, sorry if things are kind of inconsistent with the combat. This is the first time we've done it, so I am going to admit it's a trial/experimentation run.

That's about it. Thanks for sticking with me this long.

[X] Charge. No other plan needed. (+20 to your Roll)

We've got enough other buffs running to deal 95 damage to it. That's enough that it kills itself that turn.

I'm actually wondering why we didn't just leave it to starve after we ganked its followers. I mean it was already starving to death, why not just let it die from that?
[X] Charge. No other plan needed

@DuManHeiu, while backing up the stair to just let it starve might work, what if it became ambulatory? Then it would be combat with additional katamari nonsense.

It's mainly starting to starve cause it really wants you all dead. If the Cultist were gone it'd just start eating its way out of the school and into the main city. It'd be a slow process, but it'd get out eventually.

You guys fighting it now is actually one of the best ideas. It's so focused on killing you it's not trying to heal itself.

[X] Charge. No other plan needed. (+20 to your Roll)

Do or die. After getting every single egg in our basket, there's no way we'll step back from the henhouse. Or something.

Hey, Squid-face! *Summons a ball of Ice, Snow, Hail, Cryomantic Energies and Belief in each hand* *takes a deep breath* FUCK! YOU!

ATTAAAAAAAACK!!!!

Also, I just came up with an idea for an Omake based on the interaction between Chester and the Principle over the former willingly taking all the punishment for Anastasia!

Go for it, I welcome all Omakes and will give out bonuses accordingly.

Also, the next update should be in by Thursday or Late Saturday.

Can't believe I forgot to roll before announcing that:

Howard: One Shot...

Ghaiogrilb: Feed...

Ana Support:

Welp, that's that.
