Questing in Kanto

"Maybe. But we need to remember that they are part of the world, all the same. Outside and inside the town." Yuki reminded her as he reached a hand out to the cat Pokemon. Open palm stretched out to show friendliness.

The meowth sniffed very cautiously at the hand before deciding this was acceptable and coming closer within reach. They meowed requesting the food that had been offered.

"Do you think this one has ever been to a town? Or has it always been out here, and can't even imagine buildings? The town is close, but it could be a young meowth!"

"Who can say?" Yuki said simply. He handed the cat Pokemon food and then gently scratched behind its ear.

"If it's been to a town it might've stayed there. Easier to get food and shelter that way. But I think it's been in the wild its whole life."

The meowth chowed through the food relaxing at the soft petting. Vivi stepped forward and sniffed curiously at the wild pokemon. His ruff was fluffed up as he tried to handle this strange new pokemon in his space. The eevee was not a particularly social pokemon, always slow to warm up and a bit awkward in interacting. He relied heavily on Yuki, preferring his trainer to be close whenever there was someone new. The meowth flicked an ear lazily at Vivi.

Sakura very carefully inched closer. "It looks like you might have a new friend then."

"Seems so. How about it, Meowth? Want to come with me?" He asked for confirmation while using both hands to rub both Pokémon.

The meowth flinched slightly before leaning fully into his hands and breaking out into a purr loud enough it seemed it would knock the feline pokemon right over. "That seems like a yes," Sakura cheered. The meowth easily let himself be captured into the pokeball and helped himself to even more food once released. He still kept a slight distance from the group, but that would solve itself with time as he got to know them.

Yuki held off on naming him for now. He needs to come up with something.

"Jump out of the way!" He shouted to Vivi before letting a moment passed. That way his partner can execute the order. "Follow it up with a bite attack!"

Vivi obediently jumped up out of the way. He turned around and bit into the side of the rattata drawing an angry squeak from the pokemon. It did its best to twist free and turn an attack of its own on Vivi. Vivi jumped back to gain space between them, his tail flicking with excitement.

"You can do it!" Sakura cheered. "Pin it down!"

"Keep maneuvering around it! Once an opening is clear, tackle it into a nearby tree!" Yuki ordered.

Vivi flicked his ear in acknowledgement of the order. The rattata gave a fierce hiss and leaped forward. Vivi dodged and twisted to tackle it down. The rattata got a few more scratches in before Vivi slammed it into a tree and the rattata collapsed showing surrender. Vivi kept the rattata pinned and turned around to look at Yuki with delight.

"He's going to be a terrifying battler," Sakura praised.

"That he will." Yuki agreed as he puts the pokeball away. He'll think of a name to give his new partner soon.

Sakura hesitated when Yuki first suggested catching the spearow. He was right though, Sakura loved the pokemon, and she would love getting to have one of those prickly pokemon for herself. "Alright! Want to come along with me spearow?"

The spearow looked distinctly unimpressed by her request. Sakura shifted. "We're going to see the world! I'll make you the best you can be! Let me show you!"

The spearow turned and prepared to battle. Sakura sent Carnation out, and quickly ordered him to use Growth to pump himself up. The spearow charged in, Carnation bracing himself for the peck.

"Use bite!" The bulbasaur snapped up and managed to grab a foot pulling the spearow in closer. It promptly beat Carnation around the head for that. "Growl, and start to shake it about! Then bite again!" The spearow flailed and pecked, but Carnation was too stubborn to let go. The poor bulbasaur was oozing from the pecks, but managed to successfully take the spearow down.

"Will you join me now?" Sakura asked. The spearow inclined its head in acceptance, and she threw her pokeball.

Sakura has caught Spearow!

"A new team member," Sakura said excitedly. She quickly dug out a potion to tend to Carnation. "I'll have to figure out what to name her. Something suiting. Perhaps something about her sharpness? Complimenting her vision? Or maybe I should spend some time to figure out her personality." She petted the bulbasaur, and he leaned affectionately into her care.

"You don't have to think too hard about it, Sakura." Even when saying that, he still hasn't thought of names for his other two team members. Not exactly good when only his partner has one. It'll come to him soon.

"Let's take a break for them to get acquainted." He suggested. All three of his Pokémon released from their balls to meet and greet one another. Yuki made sure to check on Rattata, after the sever beating it got from their fight.

"Sounds like a plan!" Sakura was quick to release her pokemon. She knelt down more than happy to cuddle with Carnation. The bulbasaur was more than happy to let her do so. The spearow settled close by and began to preen, not particularly interested in getting close to the party.

Vivi settled next to Yuki, as always eager to confirm that his partner was there and not leaving him behind. The freshly caught rattata was a touch more nippy, but seemed to be recovering alright. Perhaps some potion would help her feel better, food definitely would.

The meowth was the first to begin to wander between the groups and instigate things. He moved with a sure confidence, and was quick to bat a paw at the spearow. The spearow was not a particular fan of this, flying up and settling on Sakura's back making her laugh. She couldn't straighten up now without forcing the spearow to have to fly off again. Carnation gave a happy bawl and stepped forward to engage the meowth. The meowth rapidly dashed to hide behind Yuki. Vivi wasn't pleased with having his spot taken and looked at Yuki to correct this infraction.

Yuki sat on the cool grass to let his Pokémon get closer. His palm rubbed Vivi's back fur to pet and sooth the little guy. Confirming his presence and attention for his starter. Need to make sure he's adjusting alright. His other hand went to pet his Rattata to make sure she's ok. Think he has food in his bag?

"It's alright, Vivi." He puts his closest friend in his lap and motions for Meowth to get to his side. "Don't get shy, Vivi. These are your new friends." He shifts to have him face Meowth.

The rattata cheerfully dug into the nuts that Yuki got out. She was more than happy with this decision!

Vivi was more nervous about the entire thing. He sniffed the meowth with caution. The meowth was more than happy to butt up into Yuki and try to get him to rub behind his pendant. Vivi looked at Yuki, checking to make sure that this was in fact the pokemon that Yuki wanted. He had to share now? He wasn't entirely sure about that, but he did grudgingly allow the meowth to investigate more closely.

Yuki watched Meowth come forward and willingly reached down to rub behind the pendant. He wasn't going to play favorites to show Vivi that it's time to get used to other Pokémon being around. "How are your new Pokémon, Sakura?"

Sakura smiled broadly as she gently stroked her spearow's breast. The feathers were so soft. "She's doing good." The spearow gave a chirp of agreement and tilted her head studying Yuki. Carnation gave a soft low and butted into Sakura's side to get more attention. Sakura laughed. "Okay, okay!" She looked over at Yuki. "I think I'm gonna take them for a stroll."

"Ok! Stay safe!" Yuki called out to his friend before turning back to his Pokemon. "Ok, guys. I'm really new to this, so I'm still trying to understand how I should better understand my Pokémon and how to spend time with them. Any of you up for training with one another?"

Vivi immediately volunteered, tail swaying behind him as he let out little barks. He was Yuki's starter, he should show the others how it was done. The rattata gave a bold squeak and pounced right on Vivi, ready to start fighting then and there. Vivi yipped in displeasure and shook the rattata off. The meowth was more content to stay relaxed and watch.
