"Oh fine if you're so hung up about about me not being with you all the time," you sighed with a shake of your head.
"Are you implying that I'm lonely?" scoffed Mami on the otherside of your line.
"Implying you're not! You big crybaby-"
"Kyouko, this is an open channel. The Scholars can hear y-"
"OH SON OF A BITCH!"
......
"Indeed. Wait for me. I'll be there," grumbled Mami before she cut the connection. You let out a sigh before stretching your arms, you body collapsing on the soft grass with a dull thump. Man, taking a nap again sure sounded like a great idea. But still, the fishy you're planning to catch might get away. Hopefully she'll stay for a few more minutes.
You raised your hands as if to grab at the sky and clenched your fist.
Everything sure was going to shit, huh? At this rate, Mami's going to die from overwork if they didn't do anything. Just where the hell did Homura wander off to? Hmph, if there's one way to find that girl, it's through that pet rookie she had. Poor kid, having to go through almost the same torture as Homura had.
It's a miracle she was even alive.
You shuddered at the thought of her kill count. Sixteen girls. The Berserker and Aoid factions will never forgive her. Deserters were increasing by the day and soon Mami will be stuck with just the support factions. If nothing is done, the entire group will be wide open for attack by other groups from other prefectures.
Kazamino was their last fortress. If they lost it...
The Outbreak hit them hard. It was probably the most horrifying one they had to face. So terrifying that it took Homura from them. Homura who protected Mitakihara with everything she had. You'd give an eye to get her back, the stupid idiot.
You've already talked to Ruki. Homura was alive. It was just a matter of finding her.
But where would they even start? And that kid seemed like she was hiding something else too.
Well, you'll just have to get answers from that Yuu girl Mami has made into her secretary. She's in the know about this sorts of things being an artificial Magical Girl. What were they up against though?
And why was the fish alive?
You sighed before standing up. You felt a spike of magic with your Gem before you looked to the side to see the beginnings of a Teleport appearing. There was quick flash and there stood the familiar form of Mami Tomoe in full Magical Girl outfit. Even with the make up her form provided, it wasn't enough to hide Mami's tired eyes and sluggish gait.
Behind her was the Porter Fujinami Makoto in her blue Magical Girl costume with the gothic lolita theme. She let out a sigh as she rested her parasol over her shoulder as she followed Mami.
You walked towards them before catching the distinct smell of sulfur from the two, "Did you guys just walk through Hell or what?"
"Something like that," replied Mami with a dismissive wave of her hand, "But that's not why we're here. I figured you'd cover more ground with our help. And not only that, didn't you say I needed to get out more?"
"Yeah, but you look like crap. Can't see how you two would be any of help," you observed as you crossed your arms, "Huh. Still, don't blame me if you two get turned into sushi."
"Not with the food jokes, Kyouko-sama. Please," pleaded Makoto from Mami's back.
You coughed into your fist and said, "So, we've got ourselves a fuck strong Anomaly. I've got my suspicion on what it's all about. I was planning to head in and destroy it but then you guys had to ruin my fun."
"Kyouko..."
"Fine! Alright! Just come with me," you grumbled before walking towards Makoto, "Sending you the coordinates. You know that place, right?"
You grabbed the Porter's hand and transferred the information via telepathy. Central Mitakihara Park.
"Of course, it'll be a short jump," she sighed as she held you firmly as Mami took her other hand. You braced yourself as the teleportation brought you into the Warp. The feeling of vertigo hit you the worse but previous jumps had already kept you from projectile vomiting in transit, keeping you from being Ported half a kilometer through the bay.
Therefore you were grateful of having you feet be on flat ground and you managed not to puke all over yourself or Mami this time too. You sure were improving! Homura never liked these sorts of things so it was hilarious to see her churn out her lunch in the bush nearby... Gah, what a waste of food.
You breathed in a lungful of air before sighing, looking up to take stock of your surroundings. It's only been two weeks since Mitakihara's utter destruction yet you noted just how much of the place changed in such a short time. The collapsed buildings, the ruined streets and the devastated scenery gave off a slightly peaceful feeling.
The Japanese government have been staved off by the Influence of Mami's Crackers as well as Magic from the invading scavengers, making it impossible for anyone to clean up. The city was just left to rot in its destroyed state as Magical Girls fought for the scattered Grief Cube deposits around it.
"Home sweet home," you murmured under your breath as Mami patted your shoulder.
"It'll be all right," she assured you before she looked to the distance, "I'm getting two readings... Apparently, one is one the move and it's fast. Circling around the outskirts of the area. Another is stationary but it's magical signature is huge... Are you sure there's only one Anomaly?"
"That's what I was told," you replied with a frown. Two? How could there be two?
"Well, we better work fast. Which one do we go after?" she asked you while summoning a musket.
