"You should know," you say, "that there is a secrecy inducing effect on magic, making all attempts to preserve its secrecy automatically successful. As such, any attempt to expose magic to the wider world is completely useless, and so your existence as superheroes will never be discovered and you don't have to worry about that."

There is a pause, followed by, "If what you say is true, it's fortunate that our identities are relatively safe, but it's a pity that it will make our attempts to improve the world a lot harder."

"That's true," you reply. "But it means that some of your conflicts should be solved. I've already spoken to the Seekers about this, so they're not going to try reveal you anymore, and you should no longer have problems with each other."

"That's true," comes the reply. "They are rather like our Lois Lane. We don't want to fight them. We can now feel free to socialise with them."

"After talking to the Seekers," you continue, "we also spoke to Southern Retribution, Young Principality, the Treasure Keepers and Secret Talent. We also arranged for a meeting with Hidden Fairies for later today."

"That means you could be being controlled by Secret Talent," says Justice Girl. "It's the kind of thing they do, and they've fought with us before."

"I'm pretty resistant," you reply. "I shook off the effect and blocked their faces on our Skype call. Besides, now that I told them about the secrecy effect, they no longer have a reason to plot."

A giggle fills the alley. "Clever," she replies. "It's good to hear they are no longer a player. Their powers are really annoying to deal with, even for me. Especially all at once. That information should have a similar effect on Hidden Fairies."

"Thank you," you respond. "The same applied to the Treasure Keepers. Young Principality also realised how this information helps their short term and hinders their long term plans, and it similarly reduced their desire for conflict. Southern Retribution was similarly affected and is actually considering joining you."

There is a gasp. "That's good news. We're a bit short staffed. We don't even have a fifth member for a proper party. That would still leave us at an even number, which is unfortunate for posing though. A ninth member would be great to make a fellowship if we can get one. Is your group interested in joining us?"

"We're trying to remain neutral for now," you answer. "It's better for diplomacy. But we do like what we know so far. We're based in a different country though, so that makes things harder."

"Portal Girl, one of my sidekicks, can easily solve distance problems."

"Maybe, but we'll have to see how things go here first before deciding things like that."

"Fine. I can understand caution."

"Anyway, I did ask for a rundown of the relationships the groups had to each other. As I said, most of that is solved. I understand that Shadows Unseen is your biggest enemy, and they do seem pretty nasty from what we've heard. We were actually wondering if you could help us deal with them."

"We'll be glad to have more allies in our fight against them. Southern Retribution's resources will already be a big help."

"I would think this isn't the right place to discuss that though," you say. "if we weren't in public, and were able to speak face to face, it would be a lot easier."

After a moment of hesitation, you hear, "Um ... My powers tell me that if I want to come closer to you ... I'll be safe from your powers if I destroy my own head. Mind explaining that?"

-[] How?: That actually might not work due to my ability to heal others, but my wish was to see into the hearts of people and bring out the best in them. It does seem effected by my bias on what's best but I do think having a not destroyed head is better than a destroyed one.

Because what kind of supervillain, outside of Japanese media which shouldn't be an issue since Hyun is clearly patterning herself off of American/Western superhero tropes, would ever explain their powers to the enemy? Truly, such an honest and forthright response can only be interpreted as a mark of righteousness!

Didn't we just spend a whole bunch of time not telling people what our wish was, for various reasons? We can't be giving away all our secrets to the first pretty superhero to ask for them!

-[X] Well, I can't be giving away all my secrets just yet, but my powers only work on people. I don't know exactly where the line for that is for magical girls, but I guess destroying your head would count.

Did anyone ever actually ask about the nature of our powers? I'm not being sarcastic, I legitimately don't remember.

Yes, we've been asked what our wish was at least a couple of times and lied/dissembled. The opinion at the time was that it would be bad if people outside our group knew what we could do, and our friends might not like it either.

"Sure, but that doesn't really help me if I'm dead. It's not like our healer can ... Oh! Apparently you can heal destroyed heads, Vaccine?"

"I can!?" a new voice called.

"Um ... Apparently not everyone's, but you can heal ours?"

"Oh! Um ... Good to know?"

"Weird," said Justice Girl. "Anyway, I think I can work with this. Portal Girl, I need some strong chemical explosives and fireworks, tape, strong handcuffs and a long rope."

"Got it," said a new voice.

"Please hold on while we make preparations," said Justice Girl.

A couple of minutes later, a magical girl jumped down from the rooftops in front of you. She was short, with red eyes and pigtails that draped to just beyond her shoulders. Her outfit was red, skin-tight spandex, a domino mask and a cape, pinned with her Soul Gem, which was shaped like Superman's shield. The same shield pattern was on her chest in white, but instead of the stylised "S" of the Els, it had the Korean word for "justice".

She also had her hands handcuffed in front of her, a rope which trailed up to the rooftops was tied to her waist and fireworks were taped to her head. "Nice to meet you. I'm Justice Girl. Sorry about this. My power doesn't usually tell me to go this far, but apparently, you're hard to counter." It's weird that I have to do this to protect myself from your powers, but at least we can talk face-to-face now.

Fireworks(non-magical ones anyways) aren't powerful enough to blow someone's head off. Just light the head on fire.
Ah, right. The people who commit suicide with them stick them in their mouths. And they don't have the resources to get better explosives. And she's tougher than a normal human. I'd say she put one in her mouth, but then she wouldn't be able to talk. Hmmm ... She has an ally who can generate heat, which is how she was planning to light them, but that's not really going to make a difference.

She'd have no problem perfectly following the formula to create homemade explosives. Does that solve the issue?

Honestly? Just the fact of "hey, I have fireworks strapped to my head and no hesitation in setting them off in the middle of our face-to-face dialogue, i.e. fireworks GOING OFF IN YOUR FACE" is frankly enough of a shenanigan deterrent by itself.

[X] Open mouth.
-[X] Close mouth.
-[X] This is the first time you've met someone who's strapped explosives to their face as a precaution.
-[X] That's hardcore.
[X] Introduce Mami as someone interested in setting up a team like this in Japan.

In a quest based on an anime? And Magical Girl genre at that?

Pretty much all girls are either cute or beautiful until proven otherwise.

:V
Okay, yes, odds are good, but
We still can't know for sure! How can we possibly answer this burning question?!?

Let's not have fireworks explode in our face? Her power tells her what she needs to do to avoid being hit with our power and thinks this is enough, I don't want to try outsmarting it.
I interpreted it as the head-exploding itself being the counter, and she was just ready to set it off if she thought we were doing something hinky. Not that she was able to detect active use.

Edited anyway. No sense taking unnecessary risk, I suppose.

It sounds like her teammate is the one who would be setting them off, and we don't know what she'd consider unusual behaviour from Justice Girl. Reading her mind is probably fine, as long as we don't touch anything.
