"Not anyone here," you hurry to clarify, looking between the two magical girls, "No-one here is looking to hurt anyone else here. I know that what I've said is hard to believe, but there are quite a few things happening today that need to be fixed, so please hear me out?" As you speak you take a few steps back, so that if things do devolve into a fight, neither of the non-magical girls will be in the line of fire.
There's a long moment of hesitation from Mami, her expression polite, yet suspicious. A far cry from the immediate trust and support that knew, but now isn't the time to dwell on...
Homura remains silent and stoic, and probably ready to gank you from time-stop if you make a wrong move. Meanwhile, Sayaka is staring at you with open disbelief and faint confusion, while Madoka looks
expectant. She's the only one who doesn't think you're trying to trick them for something. Then again, it's not like magical girls don't try to trick one another in their struggles for grief seeds.
You decide to speak up, before anyone starts asking questions, "Right, I know, magical girl competition can get nasty and tricky, so I'm going to do something with my magic to show that I don't have that motive."
"What are you talking about?" Sayaka interjects. That's right, she doesn't know about grief seeds yet.
"That's a bit too involved to get into right now," you begin, slowly lifting your hand before you, careful to avoid startling anyone into action, "Suffice to say, magical girls normally come into conflict due to competition for resources."
You manifest your soul-gem in the palm of your hand, and notice that it's a lot murkier than you'd expect from so little magic use. Slightly less than a handful of marbles you'd guess, though that's an outdated measure now. You focus on the light of your soul, contrasted with the grief tainting it. Conscious of the flashes of light that accompanied your previous uses of power, you set yourself to purifying your soul-gem of the grief that's tainting it and exert a slow and steady
pressure of a sort. The glow of your soul-gem intensifies, lighting up the alleyway, as the corruption in your soul is purged.
You smile in relief, both from the removal of grief and that your power worked as you hoped it would, "But that's not something I need to do."
Mami and Homura both suck in gasps of surprise at the display and its implications, while Madoka and Sayaka are simply awed at the blatant magic. Kyubey's expressionless eyes seem to gleam disconcertingly in the light of your magic.
When you've finished cleansing your soul-gem, you turn it back into a ring, then look between Homura and Mami.
"I can cleanse soul-gems without ever needing a grief seed," you state somewhat redundantly, "And more importantly, I'll always be able to keep your gems clean too, if you'll let me."
Homura's wide-eyed shock is quickly replaced with her usual mask of detached intensity, while Mami stares, her jaw working soundlessly for a moment.
"I... that's
amazing, Sabrina!"
Something about that causes your mind to flash back to an evening at home with Mami, cooking dinner together, as you play music in the background. A fresh stab of grief twists in your chest at the loss of it. All because you failed.
You swallow, and push aside the emotions again, though something must have showed through, because you're getting strange looks from the others. Well, not Homura, who is simply staring at you fixedly.
"Right, so, the witch that was here isn't a problem, but the one you guys encountered at the mall is still around, and that one likes to have people jump off buildings," you say, hurried changing subjects and getting back to the mission, "Mam-- um, Miss Tomoe, you were planning on hunting it with Sayaka and Madoka, to show them what it's like, right?"
Mami seems somewhat caught off guard, and gives a slight nod, "That's correct."
"Last time, the rose-bush witch was off over in the old industrial area, on the other side of the bridge. We got there near sunset, but it was too late to save the woman she'd most recently Witch Kissed. You enchanted the bat that Sayaka's carrying in her bag," you nod toward the bag slung over Sayaka's shoulder, "So she could protect herself and Madoka from opportunistic familiars..."
Trailing off, you quickly think through other events. Oriko being foremost among them. She arranged quite a bit in so short a time, and if you're not mistaken, she hasn't yet contracted.
"There are a couple of other girls who, uh, caused some pretty serious problems before. We worked together to stop them, but I think it'd be better if I went to talk them out of it before they start, because they're not
bad, they're just really misguided."
No-one seems to know how to react to your fairly rapid-fire rambling. Right, this has to seem pretty damn strange to all of them.
"I've got a lot that I need to change today, and I know this is a bit much to take in, so if you want to take a minute to think, there are a few things I need to talk to Homura about," you glance over at Homura, "In private?"
Homura's eyes narrow fractionally, "Very well."
You look back over at the others to see that Sayaka is clearly unhappy about you looking to go off for a private conversation with the transfer student, and Mami's eyes are back to her half-lidded cool meguca veteran gaze.
"It
is somewhat hard to believe, Sabrina," Mami comments, her tone as cool and in-charge as her expression.
You expected you'd have to prove it to everyone. Most people don't expect to suddenly meet a time-traveler, after all. So you think about what you know about Mami, things that only her friends would know...
"You attend Mitakihara Middle School, where you used to be in the archery club. You like video games, particularly Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon. Your cooking is
amazing, and you like making Italian food and cakes," your voice wobbles a bit, happy recollection warring with raw grief, "You're absolutely
not a morning person, so you use magic to style your hair each morning, and you made up your own theme song that you hum to yourself while you cook--"
You cut yourself off, tears burning in your eyes and choking in your throat, while your heart feels like it's being ripped out of you. Your eyes have dropped from looking at the others, because it
hurts too much.
"I," you swallow, and try to keep your voice steady, "I'm going to talk to Homura now."
You turn and almost hurry away down the alley past Homura, trying not to think about how small your voice sounded. Your hands wipe angrily at your face, because there's no
reason for you to be crying, everyone is here and safe and alive and you're going to make sure they stay that way. You come to a stop at the same place Homura had last time you were here, then turn to face her.
Homura is standing about two paces from you, giving you a wary look.
Well, you think to yourself,
now I know what if feels like to be Homura...

Even if Sabrina doesn't remember it, she's fresh from her worst nightmares made manifest. There's a difference between drawing from her metaknowledge and drawing from what she
does remember of the previous timeline.
