Well, if you're open for suggestion - with the whole tangent on being able to save... perhaps something reactionary/adaptable to the situation at hand? Or a steadily-increasing power set?

That's one thing I was considering. An explicitly situational powerset, with the drawback being that if you're not trying to help someone out of a crisis you don't have any special powers.

POWER OVERWHELMING: Witches other than Big W (or Gretchen, I suppose) and combat meguca will be a complete non-threat, but you'll end up sitting out some battles because you cause too much collateral damage to fight in urban areas and won't get many other major benefits. You'll also have a bit more trouble social-ing wary veterans (like Mami, for instance) because of your reputation as a walking WMD. (Speaking of which, if you go head-on against Walpurgisnacht you're likely to do more damage to Mitakihara than she does in the fight.)

What? Witch barriers are disconected from the real world. You should never be too strong to fight in one, you could nuke a witch and there wouldn't be any collateral damage from the initial blast. I am unsure how this makes any sense, unless you are talking about fight other MGs.

Being understood: A variety of benefits to social interactions with strangers or semi-hostile NPCs and a side order of mental influence powers that might have worrying ethical implications. The wishes for understanding would be similar, but more geared toward improving relations with friendly NPCs.
So, a watered down version of Hikari? Not really interested. I don't want to play as the same character from another quest, just watered down.

And Savior doesn't really appeal to me, not do I want to play a support MG. I want to play a Brute in PMMM, for once.

I was kind of going for ridiculous charisma with the 'being understood/taken seriously thing'. Kind of like Kyouko's dad, only less on the mind control and more on the 'gives a second thought to words and ideas they'd normally dismiss' kind of thing. Not to take away someone's power to disagree, but to convince them to consider, even if it's ultimately rejected.

protag from Puella Magi Restitution Divinus

[x] Wish for great power. You're signing up to be a magical warrior of love and justice, what more could you ever want? Sure, from what Kyubey says it won't be as easy as it looks in anime, but that just means you need to be stronger... right? Then again, this is still the real world, and power isn't everything.

When I say half of Japan will want to kill you, I'm not talking about Witches, y'know. ;)

There are going to be a lot of meguca fights, in other words.

Yui's default combat style is going to be "overwhelming firepower" no matter what. Think Nanoha.

Voting more more power just means you'll be pulling out Starlight Breaker instead of Divine Buster.

That's roughly what you'd get, yes, but you'd still be able to push someone hard enough to raise questions of when it becomes actual mind control.

...y'know, I'm honestly surprised that people seem to be piling on the option that I explicitly said would make it harder to befriend Mami...

So we can essentially push our entire worldview, tinted lenses and all, onto unwilling victims...

That's incredibly sinister.

Me too. Forget the Nanoha shitz and giggles -- our potential for causing collateral damage could seriously alienate us.

You can. You can also choose not to. In fact, you probably will. But the temptation will still be there, if you get desperate enough...

Well, I don't want the social option, and that got extra votes, so I have to go for the vote with the chance of beating it out.

[X] Wish to protect those who rely on you. Defeating the bad guys is meaningless if innocent people get hurt anyway. Even if it means you might still be stuck in a passive role... so be it. You don't want to see anyone hurt if you can prevent it. Besides, this is flawless anime logic and therefore should work perfectly for a magical girl, right?

Not happy with any of the votes, really.

That's quite different from Hikari, though. :p In her case there's no doubt it's mind control. Mostly benevolent mind control, but mind control nonetheless. This falls into the same category as coercive oratory tactics.

We live an hour away anyways, it isn't like she is going,to join our team or anything, she lives in a whole nother city.

That is why it is a watered down version. Hikari could do that too, but why bother when you can make the other person trust you in seconds?

A bandwagon on the option that makes easy problems trivial and other problems much harder, I think. :V
We need some challenge, after all.;)

Well, from what I can tell the votes are all: More Dakka is love More Dakka is life, Meguca Friendship Circle is non negotiable, And Meguca Inspector Gadget. These are legitimately hard choices to make D: I've got no Idea what to choose

Mitakihara is on the opposite end of the same metro area, by the way. The only reason Mami won't be an immediately obvious ally is that everything between you and her ranges from "slow-burn clusterfuck" to "utter hellhole" as far as meguca life is concerned.

One of the "slow-burn clusterfuck" areas being Kazamino, incidentally.

Can you not bellyfeel BIG SISTER'S LOVE FOR YOU? It's doubleplusgood!

[HAPPINESS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY] - Wish to be understood. People don't recognise your talent, resolve and willingness to help. If only they saw it, they'd be willing to let you do what you needed and would support you.

For what it's worth, on a purely in-character basis I'd pick the "be understood" option.

Also for what it's worth, the "wish for friends to fight alongside you" was the intended "easy mode" option, but sounds like nobody wanted that anyway.
