How much longer do we have with 'series' as it were? I dont want to blow all our second chances early. Otherwise I agree with @13th Fleet
Sorry about being late to answer this.

So, both Petals of Titanium and Petals of Carbon Steel were/are planned with very loose three part structures. For Petals of Titanium, Part 1 was the beginning up until Iapetus. Part two was the entire Iapetus arc. Part three was the race to get to Titan and the Battle of Titan. Parts 1 and 3 were paced by having battles staged every few updates (Lead up to battle, battle, aftermath, social post, lead up, battle, aftermath etc.).

So. We now stand at very nearly the end of part 1 of Carbon Steel. Which... took almost exactly the same amount of posts as it did in Titanium, which is probably a testament to the above structure. Both of them were framed around there being three battles.

"We have two thirds of the quest left" is definitely a thing to keep in mind when you're thinking of that hypothetical vulnerary-hoarding problem.

[X] Oddball

Better to use critical resources when they can still help us than to hoard them for forever in my opinion.

[X] People over Material

I like saving my rainy day fund for when things get desperate. The situation doesn't seem desperate yet.
Dominoes though.

Alright, this is really the last time we can afford to break our stuff unless we get an update that explicitly gives us new equipment. If it breaks in battle, we are going to be looking at huge casualties anyway, so I would pick it even above lives of the crew, much less other stuff.

It worked out pretty great last time, didn't it?

Yeah, and for all how "great" it worked out, let's not forget that was when we were playing for an actual military with proper equipment defending our home base. Right now we're Resistance fighters fighting guerilla war, so our equipment breaks more easily, we have a much harder time replacing or repairing it and if it breaks in the middle of enemy territory, we don't really have an option of running for the escape pods and hoping our comrades will pick us up.

Not to mention that our hero is tincan mook pilot, if her mecha breaks on her (or on almost any other pilot of ours, for that matter), she most likely just dies.

I mean, between someone on the production team getting clever with her name, and all the snark, and the general aura of tsun towards the whole cosmos(Praise the tsun!) she is probably the ensemble darkhorse. That means that they will want to keep her around to the end to keep her fans watching... and then kill her off at the end to maximise the tear-based advertising for the next series, and because the marketing department is populated entirely by sadists.
