I'm not sure if it's the one @Anaja is talking about, but Kat-2Vs En Garde had that kind of setup. I don't want to go too much into details, but the SIs ended up very much at odds with each other.

In my opinion it was a very good fic, probably in my top 5 DA fics, with one major problem. The author took it down shortly after finishing it, to rework it into an original fic that they could sell. Something they already did with their previous Mass Effect SI series. I'm just glad they announced it early enough and published it on AO3, so it was pretty easy to save a copy.
Though, despite taking down the original fic, they've started working and publishing the sequel Riposte.

yeah, that's... that's a pretty big problem...

I'm going to be honest, I'm not entirely sure I want to read it now, just if there's the likely chance the author's gonna scrub it shortly after actually finishing it

that's a level of... FOMO or something, I don't know, that I just don't want to deal with

Unfortunately, no. It was taken down. Author was fine with people downloading it and sharing it among themselves though. I think Wobulator said they were willing to share it with people who had missed the chance to do so.

Yeah, nailed it.

Jerk SIs where the author has to bimbofy the female cast just so they can tolerate the guy that in canon they would've hated.

Bimbofication is general is a huge Red Flag for me. You want PWP smut then go for it, but gutting a character's wits and competence/prowess is neither needful for adjustment to sexual morals/pervasion levels or even all that useful (not to mention the implication that the writer is angry and/threatened by the characters in question).

Middle-school harems/polycules.

Well, not the middle-school part per se, but harems/polycules where the relationships stall at some light kissing (which for obvious reasons is where most of the middle-school ones end.)
Are you at that point even in multiple romantic relationships or are you just a touchy-feely friend group?

I mean, it depends on the people involved. There are plenty of people that are more than happy to keep things to that level. And that's before adding things like asexuality, not everyone's interested in sex.

It is funny to imagine them in High School, "broken up" and desperately trying to bury the Dark History.

"Hey, weren't you dating a bunch of-"

"Oh wow, how about that math test, huh?"
