and even with years of dedicated attempts they wil not be able to reverse engineer a multi dimensional device, more likely than not they will even break it near instantly into their research.

bring the invention to a important event and publicly show what it is capable of and even tell people directly what it is, something the government can't just cover up. such events are not actually that hard to get into, especially if you are a university student, just being a university student can actually gain you access to alot of places for various reasons.

I gave the news to my relatives that I was working on my scientific initiation with a grant. They were mildly interested and outwardly congratulated me, but I had this sinking feeling they thought I would eventually need their help.

Once more writing down the theories on the Kaleidoscope goes smoothly. The scientific initiation went well, not spectacular, but above average. Considering you're not supposed to know what all those things are that means you're pretty damn impressive.
Research itself is mostly looking at published papers, taking notes, doing equations, looking at books and things of that nature. At least your part that is. The professor does the actual experimentation with his colleagues and senior undergrads, and sometimes you watch them.
Basically, you're all doing experiments with quantum tunneling on a macro scale.
Quite useful and interesting, and in the context which you operate, quite cute too.
It is possible to do those things in real space to some degree, but in order to get more spectacular results you'd need background on the Kaleidoscope. As it is it will be a dead end research in a few decades unless someone else discovers the Kaleidoscope earlier. Considering that your memories tells you that affinity to it was absurdly rare even on the countless worlds alternate you visited, you doubt you are in any danger of being upstaged.

Genius strikes again: The so called genius managed a perfect score in this semester on all his subjects. Don't you guys have more things to do other than stalking that old dude? Why don't you fund his fan club or something?
University holy days: The university is prepared a special event for those who wanted to remain here. There was the typical food of the season and even some drinks, and the entrance wasn't expensive. A good option for those that are studying for the make up tests.
