History: I started off in the FBI. It worked great until I stumbled upon things way beyond my capabilities, that's when the Syndicate recruited me into the Enforcers.
The Enforcers mostly have a reputation as corrupt cops and mobsters, but someone needs to make sure that members of the Syndicate stay on track (and they'd prefer if that someone wasn't from New World Order). Turns out I had a knack for investigating Technocratic projects.
I managed to get a transfer into Disbursements. Disbursements manages the flow of resources throughout the Syndicate. It was my job to investigate if Technocratic projects were really worth all that funding we were paying for them. Sometimes things go wrong. When that happened it was also my job to help step in.
In my line of work I've seen wormholes to dinosaurs, driven spy cars and fired laser weapons. Since Disbursements is in charge of the flow of resources, I got to try a lot of cool gadgets and fight things I'm still not sure I understand. I had to dig through esoteric technobabble and dig deeper, because their always hiding something. Whatever it is they're hiding, we can't make a proper report until we know the full story.
The paperwork was a pain at first, but eventually you've filled out enough requisition forms, written enough reports, and checked off enough checklists that you get used to it.
Eventually I wrote enough reports, stepped on enough toes, and ruffled enough feathers that my detractors requested I be placed on an amalgam of my own so that I could feel what it was like to be under pressure to perform your best for 80% of the time and then be judged for those few tough calls you had to make snap decisions on.
So now I've been shipped off to some amalgam in the Pacific for "a taste of my own medicine".
