Owners of Mars

@JbeJ275

Erm, JbeJ Wind power is actually viable on mars, even on an unterraformed one. I'd have to find the papers on it, but as a very quick thing I know Scott Manley talks about it in one of his more science focused episodes.
I read an article on the NASA website on the topic of using hybrid solar/wind systems to power Martian bases, while it is possibly to use turbines on mars during their dust storms I presume that we're avoiding those areas where the dust storms are at their most intense as that would not be conducive to permanent human habitation. They also need winds three times as fast as earth winds to make the same amount of power. Solar farms are also possible on mars when you're talking about very small bases but they don't really produce enough power for towns which need more energy for farming and manufacturing due to lack of support from earth.

I'm not home atm but i'll try to find some stuff on it when I can. Not that it should be too troublesome, its mid 2100's we're all likely on 3rd gen fusion generators by now and getting water shouldnt be too tricky.

Horses eat a lot and Mars and require a lot space and exercise. Not sure if they really make sense in the context of a Habitat.

I mean mars is terraformed enough for short periods of breathing apparently so there might be a way to have them out of habitat, some kind of implant or suit or whatever. solvable perhaps with enough effort, time, and research, but worth the cost? outside of maybe some strange prestige I would not see the point.

Hey there, i'm just spectating as i've never played one of these forum strategy RPGs before so i'm trying to learn the most I can from observation here.

That being said I was wondering about colonies' overall population education levels and how it might potentially effect the game?

Will it have any adverse consequences? I've notice some of the agricultural colonies usually putting themselves up as less educated however there is nothing to suggest that would realistically be the case. Or am I perhaps looking into something that isn't even there, or if it is, barely even a factor?

Honestly, some of that comes from the fact that a fair few of the players just want to see the world burn, more than anything and have made questionable/joking suggestions for their colonies, which had been accepted.

Settlement Name: New Vatican
Nationality: Italian, Swiss, South American (and other faithful reaching towards the heavens)
Map Color: Gold (or Crimson Red)
Location: A mountain (anywhere on a mountain or near one)
Settlement Type: Manufacturing
Bio: In the dawn of the Martian Colonisation, the Vatican spearheaded an effort to establish a new enclave in the heavens themselves and to serve as the spiritual beacon of the new frontier. Through a multinational effort of Catholic nations as well as donations from the international Catholic community, they managed to establish an enclave on Mars. Smaller than a mustard seed , the faithful flocked to it, and it was forced to grow when armageddon came to the myriad nations of Earth, and the faithful scrambled to save the artifacts and texts of the faith before they were lost to the eternal darkness of war. Now amidst the darkness, the embers of the faith shall be rekindled.
(Swiss Guard, digitized and physical copies of assorted texts of the Vatican, religious artifacts (depends on GM approval)

Note: I know that applications are close for now, but I'm just saving this in case they reopen later.

It could effect research for factions later on sure. It also kind of depends on how people develop theit colonies
