Outpost Charlie-SV

Turn 7 - July 2076 (66 Months until Ark Arrival)

Event roll - 93 - no event
weather roll - 80 - fair weather.

"So, we landed on a slightly higher gravity world, part of a dual planet system. As part of that, there are multiple active volcano's spewing ash into the unbreathable atmosphere, leading to near constant sheet lighting in the clouds, meaning radios need to be overpowered to get through the static... I can live with this." Stacy Hamon, newly woken colonist.

Total Manpower: 39
Power total: 100 MW
Power used: 56 MW
Power available: 44 MW
Lifesupport Points: 225
Lifesupport in Use: 222 total (27 cryosleepers, 39 awake personnel, drawing 195 lifesupport)

[69 + 10 Entertainment Hall = 79] Relaxation Rotation: Because we've just pulled a lot of people out of cryosleep we've got enough personnel that we no longer need everyone to work 12 hour days every day of the week. As the base expands and we create more workspace that pace will return, but that doesn't mean they can't enjoy the extra hours off they'll have for now. Especially the people who landed here in January and have been under that pressure for the past 6 months.(20MP)

The entertainment hall is a big hit. A few of the newly woken people were amateur actors, and they put on a few plays that haven't been done before and get others involved.
Crew are calming down.

Digging and Construction

[60 + 25 = 85 ] D&D Vehicles 1: (2 automated vehicles) Mine fresh ores for processing. Mostly Heavy and Light Structural Materials Ores, but also some of the Precious Ores that are in range. (AI, 2MP(+10 from OCC))

4052 Units of 70% pure HSM ores are brought back by this pair. the travel times are just to long for them to assist with the LSMO and PO's

[60 + 29 = 89] D&D Vehicles 2: (2 automated vehicles) Assist D&D Vehicles 1 (AI, 2MP(+10 from OCC))

1590 Units of 60% pure LSMO
1590 Units of 80% pure PO

These are slightly closer together and can be reached in time.

Construction Assist Drones ??/??
These drones are designed to work in concert with the powered exoskeleton units, performing tasks too small for the hands of the exo, allowing it to concentrate on the larger jobs.

once all the buildings are completed, the crew help move ore.

68 assisting the D&D vehicles move the ore.

[60 + 26 = 76 ]Exoskeletons C: (2 Automated suits) Assist D&D Vehicles 1 and 2, mostly with hauling. (AI (+10 from OCC), 2MP)

The crew spend most of their time moving, using improvised sleds to haul the material mined back, these sleds are also attached to the digging machines.

Turn Review time!

Turn 7 - July 2076 (66 Months until Ark Arrival)

Events and Weather: Excellent rolls. Which means that we aren't having problems, which is even better.

Can I say I like these snips about Outpost life? Because I do.

Morale: Excellent, I'm glad that the crew can properly relax.

Digging and Construction

Excellent work from the miners, although I think I'll send them out again.

Also excellent work from the Exoskeleton crews, I honestly hadn't expected such progress. Do we have roll over left?

Construction Assist Drones ??/??
These drones are designed to work in concert with the powered exoskeleton units, performing tasks too small for the hands of the exo, allowing it to concentrate on the larger jobs.

I'd say drop it in the queue and base the assist drones off the Construction Drone Teams we already have. If we can't simply make it a much more convenient software package.

Research:

work continues on this project, and despite the assistance of the OCC, much work remains.

Structural Tau Ceti VI adaptation 58/200

Slow progress is slow.

Exploration:

Well, atleast it's still prospecting.

Production:

Rolls are a little poorer here, but we should be getting ready to greatly enlarge our production capabilities.

Resource Processing:

Something tells me that 1 small Ore Processor is very soon not going to be enough. Ah well, let's get it smelting again.

@Beyogi As I intend to dig out new areas we need to expand upon the base plan. Could you draw up a plan with the following changes? First, an elongation of Tunnel 2, that will branch of to the north. On this branch will then lie Automated Production Lines 3, 4 and 5 and My First Factory 1.

Second, I'd like to dig out two rooms just north of the other production facilities on Tunnel 4, where I want to place an Avlis Processor and a dedicated Automated Production Line for radioactive materials.

@chris257 Can I get a quote on the costs of an Automated Production Line that's been properly shielded for radioactive work, based of the ruggedised version of the APL we've got? As well as the costs for an Aquifer Tap, a processor for the water drawn from the tap (or preferably, both functions in the same structure) and a small atmospheric processor system that only needs to draw in nitrogen and carbon dioxide?

Crap... I've got a new laptop and all the stuff is on my old one... That's not at my college appartement. I guess I can use some paint stuff to make a plan though.

Add 10 to the production cost for the apl, for a "radioactive proof" one.

Atmosphere Processor 2 space 3MW 30 construction cost 30 production cost
Automated unit, pulling the planets air through a series of filters/reactors, breaking down the nitrogen compounds, and storing the carbon dixoide. will process 1000 liters of atmosphere a day. - Advanced Technology.

Aquifier Tap size 3 4MW 80 Construction 40 production
A combination of drill, pump and purifier, the tap can pump and purify 2000 litres of water a day

That's a little limited in output, but are we talking in the case of the atmospheric processor of 1000 litres each of nitrogen and carbondioxide or something else?

1000 litres of atmosphere, concentration then determines what comes out, that is per day. the nitrogen compounds take a bit to crack to get the nitrogen.

6 days after a complete lack of voting the QM asks for votes.

All active participants vote in three hours.

It seems to me that people might want to vote before the QM has to ask for people to vote...

Turn Review!

Turn 8 - August 2076 (65 Months until Ark Arrival)

Average rolls, but that's not a bad thing.

[25 + 10 = 35] Relaxation Rotation: To help the crew deal with the stresses of preparing a virgin planet for colonisation by a million people we will make sure they've got time to relax and decompress (11MP, +10 Entertainment Hall)

... We kind of need morale to stay high. Atleast the Entertainment Hall is helping the crew cope.

Digging and Construction

So, I take it we've dug out the base expansion? That's excellent news, and we can immediately start deploying the new production lines, which is even better news.

Research:

Is it just me or do we seem to have terrible luck with research rolls? I mean, 48 points of progress where we could reasonably enough expect somewhere around 120...

Exploration:

Does the rover have the required transmitter strength to go further out? Because if it does I'd say we should have it do so.

Production:

1 good production roll. The remainder a 25, a 22 and a 12. Damn these rolls. Atleast the AI is proving extremely useful by covering the slow progress.

Resource Processing:

A decent enough roll, we're still raking in the extra materials and building up a nice stockpile. I'd say, carry on.

Maintenance: [25]

Substandard roll but no disaster. Good enough for me.

Remember, those rolls are getting halved because of the ai.

The research rolls on the other hand are straight out of the roller, I got no clue.

I was correcting for the AI adjustment with the production rolls actually. A (non-AI) roll of 25 and (halved) rolls of 34, 11 and 6 imply rolls of 25, 68, 22 and 12. Which is yes, one good roll and a bunch of poor ones.

Digging and Construction did a lot better, with two poor rolls, a 64 before adjustment and an 88 and a 90 before adjustment. It's just annoying that other than that we've basically rolled below 40 for every single roll this turn.

Ah well, dice don't always like you.

Oh, just a quick question, can we change Mining Bots Team 1 to Automated Mining Bots Team 1? Because it's a little inconvenient that it's not fully automated and requires manned supervision to function.

you declare that an AI is in charge when you use them and don't assign MP to it.

Then they will get the flat roll, plus their bonus.
