One Winged Worm (Worm/FFVII)

Well, at the very least, Soldier is going to get a serious reputation boost once it gets out that she stopped Lung singlehandedly after he had already grown into a rage dragon.

You know i almost wanted her to cut of lungs hand before heading up to his neck.

Just to be consistent.

since lung was shrinking, i doubt he's dead, and considering how long it took his eyes to grow back a severed spine isn't gonna be something he can just walk off

Holy moly people! Lung got served! So, here's what happened folks. So, we all know how the Undersiders robbed the ABB's casino a few night ago. Well, Lung took exception to that, and decided to hunt the Undersiders down. Big guy goes chasing them through shopping center at 12th Street, and out of nowhere this cape I ain't never heard of chases Lung down and proceeds to murderize the guy. The cape, Soldier, then stops to tell a little girl to, and I shit you not, 'eat her veggies' before talking to first responders at the scene. Guy ended up leaving before Armsmaster and the Protectorate showed up, but stayed long enough to give a statement to the PRT.

EDIT: Holy cow guys! There's video! Check out 3:23!

The hell? Lung was taking down? By a new comer no less. A cape with Speedster and sword powers?

Soldier slaying dragon? Should've named themselves Knight instead!

Unless... is Knight already taken, I mean if Solider wasn't...

Anyway looks like Lung's lost his head over this issue. Guess he should've stayed cool instead of getting fired up.

Wait, full stop. Did Soldier Girl just Kill Lung?! After he ramped up to wings?! WHAT GRADE-A BULLSHIT POWER DOES SHE HAVE TO PULL THAT OFF?!

Replied on April 25, 2011:

Well. That's a thing, I guess. So, quick clarification, are we supposed to be happy that ding dong the dragon's dead (no, not you), or terrified that we now have a cape both so Endbringerly powerful that he's stronger than goddamn Lung and willing to use lethal force in a cape fight without authorization from anybody in authority, and no known guarantees that they're actually a good guy? Anybody know for sure what this Soldier guy's long term plans are? The name makes me think either he's got a multiplication power that he named himself after but doesn't actually use, which makes no goddamn sense, or he's going to try to build an army, which is just ominous as fuck. If you need me, I'll be in bed, under my covers, screaming in fear and panic until the landlord pokes me with complaints from the neighbors.

Edit: InB4 speculation that the veggies comment was legit and he had a vegetable-related trigger event.

Bost1 (Verified Analyzer)

Replied on April 25, 2011:

I'm calling bullshit on this one. Have you seen Lung when he ramps up this far? No way a simple sword could have done that much damage and not break and last time I checked? Soldier's not a Tinker or a Breaker. That video's either a fake or has been edited, cause what I saw makes little to no sense.

I mean, how can an ordinary sword even do that to Lung? Let's look at the last time he ramped up this far; someone rammed a truck into him as a distraction, it did nothing. As far as I can tell from the video, there was nothing special about that sword, so to achieve something like that? Either give us the unedited version of that video or change Soldiers power rating cause as things stand right now? The given information doesn't fit.

As is, I'm so glad I don't live in Brockton Bay right now. This is going to end in a gang war, I can feel it.

► Raziel (Verified Analyzer)

Replied on April 25, 2011:

Might wanna check that detector, Bost1. I just checked the feeds, and yep, Lung's been delimbed according to the Associated Press.

So yeah, a sword did that. I'm betting that may be an aspect of her power, a reverse of Jack Slash's. Whereas he cuts you from afar, Soldier's cutting renders whatever she's holding immune to damage. Maybe something like Narwhal's force fields. Or maybe she doesn't need the sword, she just uses it to help visualize her cutting power or as misdirection

Winged_Blaze (Unverified Lurker)

Replied on April 25, 2011:

Dunno about Lung's damage resistance but I definitely saw a flash of something right before that last eight slash combo in the video. Soldier's likely got some aspect of her power that reinforces/renders inviolable her weapon. I'd also seen mentions that there's a cape in Brockton Bay that's known for maiming any criminals they come across that looks kind of like this cape, this just looks like they can do it to capes too.

Well. We're either looking at the brutiest thinker alive (that isn't Alexandria), someone who was a Grade A badass before they triggered with the ability to beat Lung so hard that the beating actually stuck, or a shit-your-pants-terrifying natural prodigy.

In which case I shudder to think of what they'll be capable of a few months down the line.

...Actually come to think of it, that stands for all three scenarios.

Have fun with that Brockton Bay!

Ok, so I was wrong, video's legit. Someone needs to go fix Soldiers ratings though, her page on the wiki is in serious need of an update. Any word from the PRT and Protectorate though?

And does anyone else think we've got another Shadow Stalker on our hands here? Cause sources say that this is just the sort of stuff that led to her joining the wards. Swords are just as leathal as crossbow bolts after all, and while she's using them to chop of peoples limbs instead of string people up, that's still a case of ecssessive force here, criminals or not.

DirtyHarry (Verified Cop)

Replied on April 26, 2011:

@Bost1 > I said it before: Soldier's a good kid. She doesn't nail people to the wall and leave, vigilante style; she calls the cops waits around for us when stuff goes down. She also stops the bleeding and preserves the limbs so a normal doctor can reattach them, even when she wasn't the one who detached the limbs.

Of the two I'd actually say that Soldier causes more grievous bodily harm than Stalker. Stalker didn't know how deadly arrows could be, and that no one died because of it was wholly luck on her part. Soldier is lucky too, but she also tries to ameliorate the damage. She also sticks around to talk to us.

Replied on April 26, 2011:

@Bost1 > Not sure why it would matter which categories Soldier fits in last time, it's not like she told anyone everything she could do. Powers are bullshit and generally don't make sense in the first place, calling bullshit when a cape reveals out a new power they kept hidden? I want to know who verified you as an analyzer.

Anyways, onto the powers, of what little I've been able to look up shows she was least a Brute, Mover, and Blaster.

She's shown off that glowy barrier thing to protect that police officer, so that's Shaker right there.

That blue glow right before she opens up a can of whoop-ass on Lung? It's a little different, but doesn't it remind you of someone also in Brockton Bay? Like say... Battery? Whose charging ability is classified as a Breaker ability. If it weren't for the other abilities this Grabbag Cape, I'd think they'd be related. Maybe.

Her sword being able to hit a ramped up Lung and not snap in half while striking at such speed and power, probably a Striker if her sword and possibly her costume as well are durable all the time, but I'm betting it's part of her Breaker ability.

Battery can just charge up whenever she wants, I wonder what the requirements for Soldier's Breaker ability is?

Bost1 (Verified Analyzer)

Replied on April 26, 2011:

@ Scale > Wow, thats... harsh.

First of all, I was asking for an update on Soldiers official powerset not just their rating. Second, I was calling bullshit on how she took down Lung, not on her powers, and how it made the video appear fake, which I have already admited I was wrong about. Third, I specilise in similarities and patterns, that's why I was verified as an analyser, which is a correct spelling, perhaps not in American English, but ther's nothing wrong with the spelling.

While I thankyou for you're analysis on Soldiers powers, please don't straight up jump to s**t posting on someone cause they struggle to get the wording of their posts right.

Scale

Replied on April 26, 2011:

@Bost1 > Maybe it's been a long time since capes that a notable while still new to the scene are, but official powersets usually don't get updated unless they get 'leaked' from the PRT or the Cape themselves feel like revealing their abilities for all to see. It sates our burning curiosity, but I don't see the former happening until she joins up with the Wards/Protectorate or latter happening unless she doesn't like living very long.

About the video footage, it seemed more like terrible handling and poor quality camera than edited, then again I'm not an expert on recording devices, could have been a recorded from a cell phone or a cheap camcorder but I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference but I doubt people can edit and post those kinds of effects that quickly.

Huh, you don't say? Figured most people interested in Brockton Bay would be American themselves, didn't realize foreigners were that interested in our stuff. Figured all the terrible thing going on in everybody elses own backyards would keep them occupied. I guess we are just that awesome*... or maybe because it's the threads I stick around in but the only times I've seen non-Americans are the Endbringer threads.

Your welcome, but if the words aren't structured right, corrections must be made otherwise the confusion would last longer if not end at all.

I'm escaping the Bay before she comes after me next.

Okay, took the time to look through that frame by frame, and it's definitely only three Undersiders on the hellbeasts. Judging by size Grue is the missing member, but no guesses from me on why. Hopefully he didn't get charcoaled, even if he is a villain that would be a horrible way to go.

Next speculation, though! Can Soldier fly or levitate? She mostly seems to be jumping around or rebounding from sword strikes, but just swinging it aorund and especially the sword strikes should have set her spinning a lot more than they did. I suppose it could be another aspect of a Breaker power, and control over (Edit: her own) momentum would explain both the observed Mover speed and powered up sword hits.

Sitting in the library, I stared in shock at the computer screen. Eight pages of comments in three days about my fight with Lung. There was even a comment from Vista on page five about how she wanted another girl on the team (apparently, Shadow Stalker doesn't count). Even Officer Callahan had posted, supporting me, albeit also with a bit of constructive criticism. I smiled at his comments that I was a good kid. It felt…good to be praised by someone other than dad and not ridiculed for a change (I know dad means it, but really, he's my dad, he has to say things like that, it's in the job description).

Taking the mouse in hand, I went to start a reply when I heard a rumble of thunder. Which was strange, because the weather was supposed to be sunny all day.

I heard another rumble of thunder, and the power went out.

Yay, more! This has actually kind of made me want to see a sane Sephiroth with Avalanche... He was supposed to have been annoyed with Shinra before he left.

I hope I am not the only one who has the need for her to pull out Sephi's BFS.
Imagine the face of whoever disarmed her when she pulls out Masamune?

I mean, it really fits under 'awesome, but impractical', but that is the weapon Sephi is used to swining around. A broadsword isn't really the same, is it now ^^?

I could see a Tinker making Taylor a Masamune-esque sword as a favor, or something. Although, Advent Children did feature the revived Sephiroth more or less conjuring Masamune out of thin air upon his revival, so maybe Taylor really could manifest the sword spontaneously?
