One Punch Man - The Anime

Something like that. There's just not much point in any of those stories but the Crab dude because the characterization is mostly ignored once the various arcs kick off. Hey there supporting cast in asap because it's OPM's interaction with them that makes the manga so great.
On one hand, I want to disagree. Even skipping straight to the exams would cut out a number of character introductions (including one main and a major recurring character at that), let alone context that would be lost later on.

On the other hand, we're already 8% done with this season: There's only 11 episodes left. Knowing that the finale will at least take us to meeting the majority of the S-Class Heroes, there's a fair few subjects that will need to be covered start-to-finish in a single episode.

I don't disagree with the first part; in fact I think that we need to start introducing characters immediately because it's the supporting cast that makes OPM so good. I just think that the first few chapters should have been cast out of canon as the characterization there effectively was (outside of the Crab one).

One thing you need to clearly establish at the start is the premise. You have to literally show One Punch Man... One Punching a bunch of stuff. So yeah, there is going to be some 'filler' before the meat.

The second episode introduces Genos, and I can't imagine they'll spend more than an episode or two on House of Evolution. They would have had most of the first three episodes done when they were releasing PVs, and those showed the final boss for that little arc, so.

Anyway, that was really impressively executed. Some of the best charisma animation I've seen in ages. I'll need to look into who did what cuts, but if they continue like this, someone will probably die lol

I can't believe I'm saying this already but the key animation sequences compared favourably to Rolling Girls episode 1.

Wow.

I have returned at a later date and as an entirely different person.

Mosquito swarm animation was yes. Lion King fight was IMO not all that well animated.

Still, the meat of the episode was Saitama and Genos, and Saitama successfully murdered all the tension with one punch.

Genos versus Armoured Gorilla was well done, I thought. But yes, OPM's strength lies in is what the not-Saitama people are doing.

Genos vs AG, sure. The Lion King fight just tried to go way too abstract (and too long) with the special move, and it obviously suffered for it.

Agreed. Should have kept it fairly short, focused on him killing his teammates and then Saitama's louche evasion, and bam! Scene over.

A weaker showing than the marvelous first episode, but it didn't let me down like Kekkai Sensen did so I'm still on board.

I'm not sure what you guys are thinking, but I actually loved this episode more than the first one.

Could be the Saitama Rape Face though.

I enjoyed the raep faec, but LK's special attack brought that whole scene down for me.

Rest of the episode was great, tho.
