Yay reconciling, in a way, with Sieg!

The elves' byplay made me giggle; the two nobles makin' a spectacle because a little dryad asked how they'd communicate long-distance.

And, hm...if Stephanie is a knight or a knight-in-training, then the frustrations towards the knighthood would be a little misplaced? Possibly. Like it could be one order going behind the others' back and Stephanie is the guinea pig on which they could convince others to either join, or not impede their efforts to help.
Just speculation though, and it's still pretty late: war's been going on for more than half a decade? I think?

Sharing the view of the woodland dryads sounds like an opportunity in that it doesn't really feel to be in-line with her character thus far.

I'm leaning towards "don't know what to feel" if only because, well, we've obviously never interacted with a knight so why judge just yet? Also we haven't verified the accuracy of what information we do have.

Edit:
Also, are the knights addressed as Sir or Dame or Knight or nothin' special?

As they are described, I can't really be mad at them for choosing to stay out of the conflict, as that appears to be a pretty consistent choice since the founding of the nation. It's like being angry at Quakers for being pacifists.

Going to be ambitious and do a write in, of sorts

[x] ...don't really know what you feel about the knight orders.
-[x] But you wonder, what is the reason they spend so much time training and practicing, but not use their skills? They aren't interested in fighting in wars or protecting people, but devote their lives to skills that they almost never use?

Open to improvements on wording of course, but these people are mysterious, and I'm not set with Neianne having a firm opinion on them. She's very much aware, and had been shown and reminded again and again, that she doesn't know anything. Curiosity and questioning seems to be an honest view of them.

So, not sure, but asking questions. There is an undertone of 'what are you doing with your lives?' but that's just a reflection of 'what do you care about?' Maybe they have a good answer, maybe it's more complicated then most outsiders understand, but I don't think a judgement here is fitting.

Even if she has had an opinion before, the past year has really changed how Neianne thinks about things. She might find out that thinking over what she knows, from her new perspective, might lead somewhere interesting. Or infodumpy.

[x] ...see a beauty to such a transcendent pursuit, but know that the peace it depends upon is bough in Confederacy lives. You hope some day, some of their teachings will be shared with worthy candidates, to help defend their neighbors and countrymens homes before it is too late, and the enemy comes to their doors.

Will we ever receive in-quest reasons for why there seems to be only females in the quest?

This isn't a criticism - I really enjoy the quest - but I'd like to know how or why evolution panned out like this.

Hmm, and now we have another possible background for Stephanie.

[ ] Your name is Neianne of Caelon and you are a mercenary in training. Ever since you came to Faulkren Academy you have slowly learned to stand on your own two feet and chase after the you that you wish you could be. You'd like to think, even, that you've made progress. You have learned to rely both on yourself and others. You have stood up for yourself and others. You have made friends and... not friends. You have experienced grief and anger. You have started to learn politics, strategy, and magic. You have learned the art of the blade. You even thought that maybe you were getting good at it. That is, until today, when you saw beauty in motion, the truth of steel. Being honest with yourself, you still struggle with politics and philosophy. You have no idea if what the Knights do is right or not and asking Sieglinde for her opinion feels like the... best way to make it make sense. But, but, you would really really like to be as good with your sword as the knight is with hers.

Lmao, a huge ass write in that basically amounts to, fuck everything else I want to be that cool.

One swing, three die.
