What's the deal with Diana being hated by other Old Ones?

It's less she's hated that she sits at the center of a working seed vault and terraforming technology. Many people want it and any remnants of the Old World knows its value. If anything the hatred comes from Diana who unlike most of her peers was a moral human being before fusing with a computer. So she did not get along with House, proud autocrat, Stanislas Braun, despicable maniac, or the Think Tank, monsters in human skin who actually became less evil by transplanting their brains into robotic chassis.

Caesar's Mission
Caesar's Mission
The first day of the thirty-ninth year of his reign over the almighty Legion, divine Caesar son of Mars, bearer of the sword and the fire, summoned to his side his council. And this was in the chambers of his palace at Flagstaff, heart of the Legion's dominance over the plains of Arizona. At his side was Lucius Prefect of the Praetorian Guard whose loyalty like those of their illustrious forebears before the Reckoning could not be doubted. He sat at the right of the Imperator, ready to protect and smite whoever displeased his lord. At the left of the Dominus Optimus was the young Vulpes Invicta who despite having not reached thirty years had won the head of the Frumentarii becoming Caesar's main spy and assassin. At his order a thousand daggers rose and poison was put into a thousand cups. And he spoke of the men who came paying homage to the son of Mars whose eyes are everywhere. And there was Aurelius the Tribune, least ranked and yet already famous. Aurelius the Phoenician was he called for he had conquered the city of Phoenix and put its leaders on their knees. At his side was contempful Joshuah Graham Legate of Malpais who among the rank and file went by the name of Longinus.

And there was Lanius the Legate of the East adorned in the golden armor he had won by piling so much loot at the feet of Caesar there was for the value of all his men yearly wages. Even Vulpes feared him for the Fox could not divine his thoughts as he could other men. Indeed he was accustomed to pluck the thoughts of slave and soldier alike from their very eyes but Lanius' gaze was hidden behind a mask of burnished gold. He knelt before no man but the Dominus and offered him bloody sacrifices. Yet he seemed uncaring of favor and riches, demanding only his pick of the forges of the Legion and giving the rest to the men under his command. He ate like them and pitched his tent no higher than any other officer. And yet he was feared for it was rumored his thirst for blood was a divine gift, not from Mars but from Bacchus this god of frenzy whose unknowing followers are the raiders.

And to the gathering Caesar spoke and said:

"One of Vulpes' Frumentarii has come to the West and has seen a wall of the Old World who escaped the judgment of Mars my father. Beyond it is the city of New Vegas whose glittering spires haunt my restless dream. This city and the Mojave will fall to our might and then we will push into profligate California and we will scourge it even to Shady Sands itself. And this mission I give to you my oldest friend." And saying this he designed Longinus. "Gather the Legion and your auxiliaries and be ready to cross the Colorado." Longinus knelt and swore it would be done least he would burn and fall in the ravines.

And to Aurelius, divine Caesar ordered to go to the south where the profligate Generalissimo Vialla had made a devil's bargain with the Legion. He would be put to the service of the beast and his forces would spill the blood of the Mexicans and keep the vast factories of Vialla. The Legion would be paid for it in weapons and expert technicians to add to the Cult of Vulcan's mighty works. Aurelius was eager for the post for it promised much glory even as he piled skull upon skull.

At last the Dominus called to Lanius the Butcher and said to him: "In the lands of the East is the city of the dogs who is standing bright and ruined. Many tribes lie between it and here and my Legion is ever hungry for men and material. You will in the course of five years break to your will the lands of New Mexico and seize Dog City for the Legion. Let the weak be enslaved and the strong made legionaries as it is our custom. You have five years to complete this task. If you should fail you will be accursed as a traitor and slaughtered."

So was the will of Caesar and his generals hastened to see it done.

And there we shall speak of Lanius for he was the last of the Hidebark according to the tale and there were many told about him but only one was true. Choose 1

Lanius the Tribal:
Lanius was a tribal, member of those tribes who formed the core of the Legion. His people was warlike but none had ever been like Lanius a giant among men who loved the sight of red blood spilling and the roar of the sacrificed upon the field. He had fought the Legion true but had been bayed as a wolf, cornered and struck with so many blows it was surprising he surprised. He still held to the beliefs of his ancestors and worshipped Mars under the mask of a great brass hound dripping with crimson blood.
Lanius is familiar with the rites of the wasteland and the demands of survival

Lanius the Reborn:
Lanius fell from the heavens in lightning and flame. He flew from the west with the stench of oil. His brothers had fought for a cause, as evil as it could seem, and Lanius believed it. He had rejected his metal armor who fought for him and his rifle who shot deadly light but his gaze was cold. He had knelt before Caesar for a reason and a reason alone, to kill the most people possible in the name of a distant flag he had once loved. His former masters had enhanced him and freed him from the vagaries of ages even as they had given him strength beyond strength and hatred beyond hatred.
Lanius is familiar with the workings of advanced weaponry and technology (not their fabrication though). He will not do it in the service of the Legion but he was trained in the use of Power Armor.

Lanius the Dark Angel:
The stories of the Hidebarks are as false as the rest, a mask to hide the truth. For Lanius was part of Caesar's entourage even before the Dominus took the exalted name and he had once been a Raider who had forsaken his path for the white robes of Deseret. He did not worship Caesar but worshipped the Lord beyond Caesar who commanded obeisance not to the just only but also the perverse. He had been a friend of Graham and shared the same bloody handed faith even if he had learned much of the servants of Apocalypse. The knowledge of a thousand tribes was in him and he turned all of it to darkness.
Lanius is familiar with medicine, chems and the brewing thereof. In 2275 Caesar is either not developing his canon cancer or Lanius is not with him long enough to notice the symptoms.

And even as he left for Dog City, Lanius was heralded by his retinue who sang of his exploits and foremost among his titles was Choose 1

The Invincible:
Great was the wrath of Lanius on the fields in the days of the subjugation of Vault 53. The Dwellers had weapons of advanced make and they turned them against the legionaries, reducing them to ashes with lucky blows. So enraged was Lanius he ignored such feeble blows and met their lines to slaughter them at close.

The Night Lord: Famed is the disdain of Lanius for the Frumentarii but there is an art of them he excels. During the confrontation with the Brotherhood of the Word whose raiders scribed their litanies on human skin he deployed all the horrors of war against their men. Such were the tortures he devised and the grisly scenes he arranged the Brotherhood knelt before him before he flayed their leaders alive to make his banners.

The Blademaster: At the belt of Lanius there are several oversized heads. These are the remnants of warbands of Supermutants who sought to quarrel with the Legion. Such is the strength of Lanius he descends into the arena against such beasts and he demands he faces not the runts of the species but either those who has grown to strength or those who kept their minds. He triumphs against them just as he triumphs over all.
