Of Gods and Monsters

Athena: "I kept hinting that she'd come and pick you up, but no. You decided you knew more than a millennia-old Goddess of Wisdom, Strategy and Prophesy. Honestly, every generation has some measure of rebelling against their elders, but your generation is the worst one yet! At least in the 60s you Americans had an idea of what you wanted."
Just be lucky Isis wasn't picked...

Isis is also a mother, like Athena. Unlike Athena, she's lost her... Osiris dying clearly shocked her enough to break the cycle of life and death to resurrect him temporarily.
Isis has some fucked up morals.
there's also the fact that the most common story about how Osiris became pharaoh involves Isis blackmailing Ra into exile in a coupe, and that the girl your talking to hosts one of the Eyes of Ra, who tend to view hosts of Isis as "don't trust unless within easy stabbing range".

[X] Yeah... Have we met before? You look really familiar.

Five internet dollars says she thinks we're flirting with her if we do this. Can't tell if that makes it a better option or not.

Quick check: How closely are the Hosts bound to the legend and power of there god? Like are oaths sworn by the gods binding to the Host? Cause if so we might've permanently virginfied ourselves in Character Creation...

Athena, strictly in my opinion based on my understanding of the myths, is not 100% 'you must be a virgin forever' figure. She is a mother goddess after all. What she's focused on is an old-fashioned professionalism and purity. You focus on the task at hand for the greater good, you don't get distracted by the pleasures of the flesh or the ego of mortals. The incident with Poseidon... that's a whole 'nother kettle of fish.

Yeah, but my problem is, based understanding of the Host concept, is the whole
(The god forms part of their consciousness, granting the host with powers said god had in it's mythology as well as items/equipment they are often portrayed with)
That would mean that her power is in us. My question is if we are bound to her oath because we share her power.

given the kettle of fish that opens (that would also mean a lot of hosts are doomed to die lonely, being only able to marry the hosts of the gods their gods married) its not something I plan on following to closely...

doesn't mean I can't have a little fun with it though.

also another note on this;

As AL mentioned:
A. Medusa was having an affair with Poseidon., Athena's biggest rival
B. The were making out IN HER TEMPLE . If she had done the same thing in Zues's temple he would have (hypocritically) fried her with a lightning bolt.

... most people are familiar with the version where Medusa's intercourse with Posideon was very against her consent.
Are you switching things up for the purposes of this quest? 'Fact' vs. 'myth'?
That might have been more because the books of my childhood were a lot... cleaner shall we say, but yes rereading the myth it wasn't consensual. My point is that to Athena the who and where mattered more than the what.

Given the mostly liberal, and a few of our resident conservatives, membership of SV, that bit is going to smack heavily of victim-blaming.
Old-fashioned morals will cause character clashes where the playerbase might not budge.

sorry if I'm making it sound like I'm backing Athena here...I'm not.
As for character clashes, Alexa and Athena are two separate personalities with two separate beliefs. Just because one thinks something doesn't mean the other will.

B's biggest part is that Athena is a virgin goddess, so it was extra offensive. Since Poseidon outranked her as her uncle she couldn't smite him, so she smote poor Medusa instead.

Also it wasn't just in her temple. It was literally on her altar.
If it was Zeus he'd probably have asked for popcorn first though...

Even more disturbing. Athena's an angel compared to her stepmom...

Hera's a bitch, but not unduly given all the shit she's had to put up with.
I mean I can some what see going after the girlfriends (even if half the time they were in the same boat as Medusa), but the stuff with the kids pretty much puts her as the goddess of disproportionate retribution.

Taking a good point and ruining it by going to far.
Some things never change...

There are conflicting versions of the story (which is pretty much par for the course for Greek myths, due to the fact that Greek city states made up stories or versions that were offensive to their rivals patron dieties).

Some versions say Medusa was looking for a bit of crumpet, whilst others say Poseidon was looking to forcefully take some crumpet.

As it stands, either can be used as both are correct, depending on your point of view.
