Of Fists and Faith - A 5th Edition D&D Quest

[X] No. As Ludmila says, this isn't your fight. You trust Ludmila not to deal with the Abyss Fae, and for Raskova to respect that choice.

[X] Yes. You know Cleric spells. Maybe you can also learn this "True Resurrection"? Or at least something similar? This option locks you into the quest "Find a way to resurrect Anastasia Gorbunova." Once you start, you cannot stop. This will cause plenty of changes, but may have plenty of rewards.

Resurrecting the dead isn't an unknown for the bible. It's usually the domain of Big J though, but considering Alice is a cleric and clerics get their power from their deity, then the only way for her to cast true resurrection is we get the okay from heaven.

I don't know. Maybe Alice shouldn't mess with things like helping someone resurrect her grandaughter instead of properly grieving her death.

Dont want the abyss to hurt our new friend

Good morning!

I've put the timer on, so you still have a little bit to time to make a decision!

Also, New DMG is out (in certain situations). I am going to be getting my hands on that as soon as I can afford them! Also, Scions of Elemental Evil, an adventure, is also out! So I get to look at some new statblocks!

This looks fairly interesting, and hey, I've been nostalgic about D&D (played some 3.5e... uh, more than 15 years ago. I feel so old right now...), and from what little I've seen online 5e is basically a slimmer, simplified 3.5e.

Who knows, maybe I could even buy the manuals and try to DM the

Side note, My first Neverwinter Nights character was actually a Monk. Obviously very much underpowered compared to what Casters can be there, but I liked it, and the extra speed it had made walking around fairly quick.

Look, if Ludmilla is our new grandma (and she is), then by logical extention Ana is our new cousin.

You don't leave your cousins to die.
well, she's ALREADY dead, so it's more of a "don't leave her dead" that "don't leave her to die" :V

...I'm kinda tempted to buy them and see if I can maybe try my hand a DMing for my Vampire (VtM) group, if I could convince them to give it a shot...

I definitely don't have the time (or skill) to make an original campaign, but if the pre-made one was good enough...

Right, so you're going to try and bring back the dead! Not an easy task, but you can achieve this.

Also, I think it's time to have a video. Trigger Warning: Analog Horror, Possible Kid in Danger

...did the Fae kidnap/kill Anastasia?

Hello and welcome! If it makes you feel any better, I feel old myself, having played 3.5 as well. And Monks are fun! And that extra speed allows them to get around a battlefield extremely well! (Also, the 2024 version is much better then the 2014, in my opinion.)

If you want, there are free rules if you want to give that a try, before buying the books! (Also, I need to play a game of VtM eventually). And there is a couple of free campaigns as well, including the new Scion of Elemental Evil!

...did the Fae kidnap/kill Anastasia?

Nope! I can assure you of that.

There's some odd things with how they standardized the class progressions, that really aggravated me to be frank, particularly for Cleric, Sorcerer, and Warlock. It deeply messed with a character build I had that mechanically relied on the Genie Warlock Level 1 feature both mechanically and in flavor, and overall made for a level 3 character that did not require any gear to be an effective adventurer, even in social situations.

Yeah, I get why they standardized them, but man it really feels like a hit on multiple levels. Flavorwise, especially to Warlocks.

Also, Genie warlocks are fun.

My warlock was a Tiefling who was abandoned at a monastery when he was an infant, and was denied any comforts his whole life up until he left. Barest essentials for food, no entertainment other than transcribing Scripture and brutal martial training, and no clothing to hide his true nature from anyone. One day, when he was around sixteen, he went for a swim in a nearby lake, and discovered a ring at the bottom, half buried in the silt. When he brought it up, it turned out to be a ring of three wishes, bound to a Marid, treated more classically as a spirit of rebellion and changing tides. Seeing a being bound as he was, he wished for her to be free, and in return, she freed him from his bondage at the monastery, pledging to aid him every turn. Under the cloak of night, he fled, although in the day, he found that being clothed was so foreign a sensation as to be unbearable. Thus, he disguises his bare form under a Mask of Many Faces, and dons myriad outfits that are, to him, lighter than air itself. His weapons of choice are his hands, and implements of the childhood he was denied by the cruel monks he left behind.

Build wise, the basic build is Tiefling Genie warlock 2, Monk 1, with the Infernal Heritage feat, and taking the Mask of Many Faces invocation. Everything else is flexible.
