Hmm, could you Imagine Shadowrun and THEN Mass Effect? Wow we would be pretty advanced race going into the galaxy. That and we would have multiple races and Fucking Actual Magic. Well us 'Humanity', not Steve.

Then again Fallout then Mass Effect introduces all sorts of exotic not to be found tech in ME. Lasers, Directed Plasma energy weapons, Handheld portable nukes and AI's to name a few. Part of the reason I so enjoyed a few Fallout/ME fanfics.

And I got ninja'd mid post by a story post. Now to read it.
Shadowrun/ME would not really work so well considering that magic is tied to the Earth in Shadowrun (at least as far as i know).

[X] Infiltration + Mixed (Canon)
You plan on infiltrating HYDRA's base yourself, getting captured before deploying a conventional strike on the HYDRA base, using mixed armor/infantry tactics to skirmish against HYDRA's defenses while you and your Howling Commands wreck havoc on the inside. You will break their lines and tear down their base using superior soldiers, numbers, tactics, and strategy. Though this plan has a good chance of incurring some casualties, it is also the most thorough in rooting out and killing off HYDRA's numbers, so even if they do manage to survive they will be crippled beyond their means to easily come back from, even if they do manage to launch their final project.
Gain Trait: Lead Without Doubt, Serve Without Fear
Bucky Gains Trait: Lead Without Doubt, Serve Without Fear

I am completely open to changing the above vote with some convincing otherwise, I just would like to take the option that ensure members of SHIELD will survive long enough to ensure the rest of the world doesn't fall apart for too long.

[] Mixed Armor/Infantry warfare
You plan on deploying a conventional strike on the HYDRA base, using mixed armor/infantry tactics to skirmish against HYDRA's defenses. You will break their lines and tear down their base using superior soldiers, numbers, tactics, and strategy. Though this plan has a good chance of SHIELD and the SSR incurring heavy casualties, HYDRA will likely not be able to respond against the full force of the Allied war machine, leading to a swift demise with a good chance of stopping their final project dead in the water.
Gain Trait: To Lead, To Command
Bucky Gains Trait: Legionnaire

[] Siege warfare
You plan on engaging in a siege against the HYDRA base, using heavy artillery to pound their base and projects into oblivion over the course of a week of sustained explosive barrages. You will tear down their base and make sure that they do not have safe refuge in their own territory. While this plan will ensure that SHIELD and the SSR takes nearly no casualties, it has the down side of being the plan that has the highest probability of letting HYDRA launch their final project uncontested.
Gain Trait: The Lives Worth Saving
Bucky Gains Trait: To Overcome the Shadow

[] Infiltration + Siege
You plan on infiltrating HYDRA's base yourself, getting captured before engaging in a siege against the HYDRA base, using heavy artillery to pound their base and projects into oblivion while you and your Howling Commandos wreck havoc on the inside. You will personally fight through their army and take down their leadership while Colonel Phillips tears down their base and makes damn well sure sure that they do not have safe refuge to run from you. This plan will ensure that SHIELD and the SSR takes significant casualties due to your men being inside their base while it's undergoing bombardment, but in return HYDRA will not be able to launch their final project and their numbers will be so reduced that even if they do manage to survive, they will be crippled beyond their means to easily come back from.
Gain Trait: Ruthless Practicality
Bucky Gains Trait: The Weight of Lives

I admit I'm confused on how these will affect the already written and rolled update. Man those last most important rolls were the worst. I'm going with my gut at the moment, but I will be easily swayed by charismatic typers!

GM's NOTE 1: In all cases, the Valkyrie will launch. It will just be a matter of if it launches with all the hydrogen bomb equivalents in it or not.
Hmm, the last option seems to explicitly say that the final project won't launch, here you say it will. I guess you could mean the bombs not making it into the Valkyrie?... either way it seems we go into the ice before they could be used.

On a side note, there are two votes here folks. The Strategy/Tactics of the assault and the ranking of the setting choice. Just in case folks have somehow missed it. If you just haven't decided yet I guess that's ok too since if I recall correctly, standard and ranked votes are saved individually in the vote tally software anyway and you can have it spread out in more than one post. I think...
@torrmercury So in regards to either Fallout or SR...what point in time would we be arriving in either? Or is that a secret for now.
I believe that was stated more in depth early early early in the thread. I'll try to find it, I know I made a few posts containing the info and analyzing it or whatever it is that I do.

Here's a current tally, though It's really early. AT least it will drive in the multiple vote nature of it to some folks.

So I remember having very strongly held opinions regarding this quest, but I don't actually recall what they were. I know I wanted Shadowrun as a crossover...

I think I need to re-read the thread. I will edit this post with my vote once I'm sure what my vote will be.

You neglected to tag Torr per his request with write-in plans.

I'm intrigued with the current thrust of the rankings of the settings votes honestly.
@torrmercury So in regards to either Fallout or SR...what point in time would we be arriving in either? Or is that a secret for now.
Cool I found your answers, or close enough at least at the moment.
Mass Effect you're starting around when Anderson becomes an officer, meaning you can become the first Spectre candidate instead of Anderson. This will be the second most restrictive in terms of storyline, mainly because we'll be following ME's canon timeline somewhat moderately.

Continue char creation means that we'll be continuing the prologue a bit longer than if not. You'll get to pick a few more starting traits (for 5 total), and try to affect the course of history. You will most likely not succeed in the latter.

Fallout you're starting in the middle of the Arctic Circle in the Atlantic ocean, on a cobbled together scrap rig/sea town/sea village. You will need to find your way to the United States or Europe, where you'll find the remnants of civilization. This is by far the most freeform choice and has a far less linear storyline than ME or Halo. However, that also means that you CANNOT rely on any prior knowledge of Fallout, since I will be making it my own post-apocalyptic hybrid MCU/Fallout world.

XCom you'll be starting in my own version of XCom. It will be definitely based on the XCom games by Firaxis, but I will be taking my own spin to it. You'll be awakening in the equivalent of XCom 1's timeline, but things will escalate very, VERY quickly. This is the ideal pick for playing within an organization, possibly running it.

RWBY you'll be starting at the tail end of Season 2, and will have Ozpin and Glynda as your main points of contact, at least initially. RWBY will spiral out from canon into my own stuff very quickly, so you'll have a lot of chances to affect things. It's also the only option in which Cap can learn to use magic. Specifically through Dust.

Shadowrun is the second most freeform of the options. You'll be starting in 2090 and will be in pretty much a SR campaign world that I've crafted myself. Want to nation build or create a private mercenary group? Want to reunite America and turn it back into a country with the ideals which the original was built? This is the place to be. You can do that in Fallout as well, but it'll be FAR easier to get started here.

Halo is probably the most restrictive in terms of storyline. You'd be Captain America waking up about 1 year before the Fall of Reach, with all that entails. Fight the Covenant, save humanity, make friends with the Spartans, turn the Sangheili, and do what you do best, soldier!
Yes, we did lose some of our initial choices (RWBY/HALO) but that's ok. Better to go with strong choices than weak ones.

I don't mean to sway voting, but I do want to say that Shadowrun is one of my favorite settings for a reason. It inspired the Matrix and most hacking/VR movies of that era, along with a slew of other things.
Totally not a vote for shadowrun if you vote for 'Torr's choice'. Heh, I might need to rank up my TorrChoice vote over my SR vote to give it more of a chance ;)

Though I'm still split on my choice personally between FO or SR
Not gonna lie. Made me tear up there, for a bit. You're good, torr. You're real good at this.
Ah you're right! I forgot to comment on the last scene with Peggy and Steve on the radio. I love how none of his statements/remarks were actually spoken aloud consciously yet he did say them.

@torrmercury So in regards to either Fallout or SR...what point in time would we be arriving in either? Or is that a secret for now.
I believe that was stated more in depth early early early in the thread. I'll try to find it, I know I made a few posts containing the info and analyzing it or whatever it is that I do.
Cool I found your answers, or close enough at least at the moment.
As of now, Shadowrun is 2081, not 2090, due to me wanting to make a few changes. Also, Fallout will be in 2299, meaning after Fallout 4 happens by 12 years. But yes, you're in the arctic still.

I admit I'm confused on how these will affect the already written and rolled update. Man those last most important rolls were the worst. I'm going with my gut at the moment, but I will be easily swayed by charismatic typers!
Already written describes how what you picked happened. It's kinda weird, but I mentioned before the update that I did that because of how well Red Skull rolled so you can control the devastation and gain a trait.

Hmm, the last option seems to explicitly say that the final project won't launch, here you say it will. I guess you could mean the bombs not making it into the Valkyrie?... either way it seems we go into the ice before they could be used.
Bombs making it into the Valkyrie, yes. Also won't be able to be used before the ice, yes.

Also, no Logan (James) Howlett in the Commandos?
Nope. No X-Men due to my own unfamiliarity and the MCU not having them.

[x] Siege and Strike:
-[x] Perform the siege, but instead of regular bombardment use randomized intervals.
-[x] When there is enough time between bombardments, then have small strike teams try to cut them off:
--[x] Try to find air-vents/-intakes; seal them.
--[x] If external power is found, cut it off.
--[x] If external water is found, cut it off from the base.
--[x] Weld entrances/exits shut.
--[x] etc
Outcome is the same as regular Siege, with a little higher chance of HYDRA being crippled.

Edit: I'm going to bed now. More info in the morning if we need it.

[2] Playing with a strange bobble head doll before going down into the ice. It's blue jumpsuit and blonde hair contrast against the darkness and ice that surrounds you. Somehow you don't think that the doll is Schmidt's, so why it's in the Valkyrie is anyone's guess. Fallout-verse

I'd imagine humanity would be quite powerful in Mass effect even with the barest of tech from the marvelverse.

What about this portion of my post?
Casualties: 8d10 = 25 vs DC 20
Bonus: 1d8 = 7
Bonus +15 from previous Casualties successes
47 vs DC 40
0 Degrees of Success
DC raised it seemed by itself? 20 to 40.
My guess is that the initial DC was a typo and should've been a 40 as well?

Oh, that was intentional. As you assault the base, chances of casualties gets higher and higher.
Edit: Look at all the casualty DCs. They go up by 10 every time.

Going to bed for real this time.
