@Cetashwayo IT'S CANON NOW. OMICRON CANONIZED IT. MONOPOLY MAN IS A SERVANT OF AIZEN, AND FAKE CHOCOLATE COINS ARE THE CURRENCY OF LAS NOCHES
So should we start looking for pictures of anime style monopoly men for when he eventually shows up?

All i can think of off the top of my head is Mr Dickinson from Beyblade and Mosquito from Soul eater (with their moustaches being their hollow masks).

Today in Number None, Omicron scores another own goal by turning a discussion of how sad the funeral was and what it might imply for the course of the war into jokes about Yoruichi doing cat things

Good job, Omicron

I would expect Arrancar society to turn into a kill la kill expy...

Raise a glass for our glorious fallen Uzu Dosh King, Takarada!

Uzu will be remembered!

It feels weird that Ikkaku's death is getting more focus and remembrance than the multiple guys grimjow lost (aside from in thread memes). This is war, and quite frankly Ikkaku is neither the first nor the most tragic of the deaths so far. It's like when rukia and illfort had their grudge match, Rukia was enraged that illfort had hurt renji, while illfort was enraged that rukia had killed di roy.

Ikkaku has returned to the cycle of reincarnation, his soul stripped of its memories. It is a natural part of the cycle, and Soul Reaper custom holds that this is a joyous occasion, the end of one's long years of service to the balance of the world by finally entering that balance and living life as a human being. But nonetheless, Ikkaku is gone forever, for there is no afterlife beyond Soul Society and rebirth.

Oh gods... I just REremembered who Nobuyuki Hiyama(Ikkaku's japanse VA) voiced...

I'm somehow somewhat pleased that Ikkaku died... I might have to commission some art of Luppi to be made to honor this achievement.

It really was a great piece @Omicron . We got to see the various personalities of the Gotei 13 in a interesting light and the tone was great, somber yet proud I think best describes it.

I'll do a more detailed review later, as I want to pick at the perspectives we see here, but for now I would just like to thank you for putting so much effort into this wonderful story, it's a true gem.

"We're all sitting there pretending that Madarame developed Bankai right there on the spot, in the heat of battle, out of sheer will to save his allies. And we all know it's a lie. Bankai doesn't work that way. He must have had it all along. And he concealed his power so that he wouldn't be removed from the Eleventh Division and forcibly promoted. Because he let pride, and personal loyalty to a Captain, and antiquated honor codes prevail over the good of the Gotei Thirteen. So instead of releasing his Bankai earlier in the battle and potentially saving his own life and ensuring lesser harm to his allies, he compromised everyone, and only used his full power at the last moment."
But... in the counterfactual world where Ikkaku hadn't concealed his bankai, he would have been promoted to one of the vacant Captain spots, and his place in that battle would have been taken by the Fourth or Sixth Seat of the Eleventh, who wouldn't have been able to turn the battle around at all.

I don't understand what scenario Soifon is imagining here, she can't have it both ways.

do not test me figment, i will write 5k words of yoruichi chasing after a ball of yarn
Ever since I've read the line about Cirucci's tasteful bunker of abs, I started to wonder how much magic can you bring to ordinary things.
Like the magical ninja ghost emigrant, transformed into a cat, chasing after a ball of yarn.

I can already see it- her own narration, using this ordinary yarn as an analogy of latest events:
Her juggling this piece of wool with her paws, only for it to get dropped on her head, just like Shinigami suffered casualties from fighting Grimmjow's band.
Her preparing to jump on the yarn, just like Urahara wanted to Bankai those Arrancar they met, only for the ball to roll away from her.
Her chasing the fleeing yarn, when it's finally cornered... then having second thoughts about it, then dropping the activity. It would be just like Tessai's encounter with Nemo.
Ah, and when she's busy chasing after a mouse, Urahara will come in and take the ball, just like Ulquiorra and Cirucci kidnapped Ichigo while she wasn't looking.
