Hello there! This quest was originally made about two years ago, and may be undergoing a revival or a reboot! See the very end of the thread for discussions and recaps, or continue reading on for how this all began!

The Story So Far: Necromancers, son.

The Necronomicon was a book. A dark book, full of recipes of death. Most people dismissed it as a work of fiction, even if something about the book unnerved them. Kinda like that one show, Death Note. Of course, a curious few tried to recreate the monsters the book described. They all failed, thankfully. They lacked the Aptitude to bring these creatures to undeath.

Adam, however, did not. She warned him to stay away, to put the book down, or better yet, to destroy it. He promised he would.

He didn't.

He was surprised when his creature, his Zombie, was actually functioning. He played around with him a bit, this faux human being he had raised from the dead. And Evil entered into his heart.

It was a subtle thing, to run the world. So many things to control, to manage. Ruining it is much easier. Then it's more rewarding to take it as your own.

Now, the world is unstable. In his evil, Adam made copies of the book and spread it everywhere because he predicted the cruelty of his fellow man. Many failed, but many had the Aptitude to cause havoc, even unto this day.

There are five Lords of Death. Adam sits at the top, laughing on a throne of the dead. Others scramble below for power and influence, what they can get from Adam's scraps. All five have migrated to an old city, one who's name has long been forgotten and Adam made a point of destroying all references to. People just call it Location City, in an attempt to bring humor into this deathly world.

They are powerful. Can you kill one?

Once you do, will you replace them?

...but who are you, at any rate?

Who are these Lord guys? Oh yeah.
Adam, "Lord Terror"

She didn't appreciate his new 'project'. She tried to get him to stop, to listen. After he claimed his first victim however, she left and prepared.

Adam forgot his humanity almost as quick as his brother did all those years ago, when he slaughtered their family in his initial playing with eldrich forces.

While he lost his mind, his guile never left. Expertly dismantling opposition and slowly building his power base, he rightly deserves the role of the Lord of Death.

Shay, "Lord Alpha"

There was more than one Necronomicon before Adam made copies. Shay was delighted when his assistant found one.

If the Lords of Death ruled by Seniority, then Shay would definitely be first in line, toying with the contents of the book long before his brother went on the rampage that made the world what it was.

Indeed, his brother Adam quickly overcame him after his fall, being a bit more proactive in manipulation than him.

"(Lord) Void"

There are feral zombies, ones who wondered too far out of a Zone of Control, and the ones under the power of Void.

Naturally, no one has seen Void, and only Void's emissaries offer proof of his existence. Their messengers are entirely lucid, acting like a human with a Hive-mind implanted in his brain. The messengers relay Void's demands, and act as messengers in return for the humans.

Void built a power base that no one can see, but everyone fears.

"Lord Oculus"

So, the Necromancers have this problem. They have difficulty controlling zombies outside their immediate presence. Adam worked around that by creating Totems, Lord Oculus worked around that by creating the biggest personal horde imaginable.

Sure, you can see him coming from miles away, and hear him from farther still. But with that many Zombies about to be on you, hearing him coming only heightens the terror.

"Lord Techron"

There's something to be said for Lord Techron's creativity. After seeing what was basically his life's work crumble in a matter of months, his sanity quietly stepped out for a smoke and never came back.

Using the remains of his all-but useless robots and the remains of his 'subjects', he cobbled together an army of Cyber zombies. Some are fast, some are strong, all are dangerous.

The Zombies

There are many different types, based on the resources you have.

The basic zombie is somebody affected by the corrupted blood of the Necromancer. It shambles at about the speed you walk. If you take it's head off, it's dead once more. You can make them unusable to a Necromancer in other ways, though, like blasting off it's kneecaps.

The actual infection is to get either a Necromancer's blood or a zombie's blood inside a living being. If it's a zombie, the necromancer controlling the first zombie gets the new one. If the Zombie is feral, so is the new one.

A NECROMANCER CANNOT CONTROL MORE THAN ONE ZOMBIE WITHOUT A NECRONOMICON, BUT CAN CONTROL ONE JUST FINE. IN THIS WAY, EVERYONE'S A NECROMANCER OR NECROMANCER-IN-WAITING.

People From Your Perspective:

Daddy: Aleister Crowley, a Necromancer under Uncle. He was a bad boy and tried to poison you, so you got Uncle's help and killed him with his own knife!

Mommy: Uncle took her away a long time ago. You don't really know what happened to her, but if Daddy wanted to kill you then Mommy probably won't like that he failed.

Uncle: Your current guardian. You're staying in his big church-house that is guarded by friendly zombies and also contains some of his friends. You love Uncle!

Recently, Uncle has begun instructing you on how to be a Necromancer.

Daniel: A teacher of yours, and friend of Uncle. He taught you how to take out bad guys that were bigger than you. You seem to get really calm around him, which feels nice. He's also been teaching you know to survive out here, since Uncle has been so busy at his job.

Recently, ever since you came back from getting captured with him, he hasn't looked you in the eye.

Levi: A friend of Uncle. You don't know what to think about him, except that he can be scary sometimes.

Madame Red: A great person also living with Uncle! You think her and Uncle are together, which would make her your Aunt, which would be neat. You're embarrassed to bring that up, though. You both really like the color red, and Uncle.

She made a present for you out of a bit of bone you were carrying, and it actually helped your Necromancy!

1.2- Aria Hastur Crowley
Aria Hastur Crowley

Your name is Aria Hastur Crowley. That's one of the few things you're one hundred billion percent sure about! Everything else was...fuzzy.

Daddy and Mommy liked to play with you a lot, and you had Uncle around too! Well, that was until Mommy hit Uncle once...Daddy got scared, like you do when you sometimes get in trouble (Even if it's not your fault!). You thought Uncle was going to get mad at Mommy, or hit her back, but he didn't. Uncle just got really quiet. That was almost as scary as him getting mad, Uncle was never quiet.

After he got quiet, Uncle left. You pouted for a bit, he didn't even say goodbye, meanie! But you understand now.

Slights like that can't be accepted without revenge.

That's what Uncle taught you a few weeks ago! You haven't seen Mommy around the house for a while, but Daddy says she went off to work for Uncle to say sorry for hitting him. If Uncle wanted revenge, the work was probably really hard.

Uncle says that she never should have started a fight with someone stronger than her. You didn't know about that, but when you looked at Daddy he didn't say anything and just stood there, all stiff and stuff. So you guess Uncle must be right?

That doesn't make sense to you, though. Because when Uncle isn't around the house, Daddy has friends over. They sit around in the living room and talk realllly quietly, like they don't want someone to hear them. But when you ask to join in, they say it's grown-up talk! Hmph! You're going to be ten pretty soon, that's double digits! It's not fair. Maybe you should tell Uncle, he probably knows what they're talking about. And since he's nice, he'll probably even tell you!

[Will you Ask Uncle what Daddy is talking about, when you see him next?]

[] Yes
-[] In Front Of Daddy?
[] No

Maybe you should go ask him now. You're up in your room playing with your Lightning Ball, but it's gotten really hot! You should do something while it cools down, but everything else in your room is so boorrrriiing.

Everything is really boring now! You haven't seen any of your friends in forever, Mommy hasn't come back so there hasn't been any lessons for you, you just play around the house all day! Uncle plays with you though, he's really nice like that!

You creep downstairs to the main floor. Daddy has his friends over again, and there's this little nook by the stairs where you can sorta hear what's happening in the living room. You sidle up to it and put your ear to the wall...

"What...Aleister? ...endgame here? ...outrun him...hell...able to kill him."
"...he's coming over today...I know he's immune to my...a bunch of poison...do it."
"Are you INSANE!?"

Woah, you could really hear them now. It's weird, Daddy was definitely the second voice, but who do they want to kill? Why poison?

Can you help?

The scuffling sounds really mad in there, but after a while they calm down. You only put your ear to the wall quick enough to hear,

"...Subtle approach...No Totems, no control...rebellion."

Rebellion? You...don't quite remember that word. Wasn't it something you were told you were doing when you got mad? But why will they talk about...

...Does Daddy...want to poison you?!

You can't help but feel tears in your eyes that exact moment. It doesn't make sense, and yet...

...It would explain why Daddy never lets you talk to his friends! Why he never talks about it when Uncle is around, he actually loves you! He wants to get rid of you, find a new Mommy and little girl! He'll kill you at dinner tonight!

...You cain't let him do this. Father or not, you're not dying before you hit double digits. You make a promise to yourself to this effect.

Going back up to your room, you begin to calm down...

...And plan.

--

[] Sneak out! You have a ledge out of your window that you can climb down, you've done it before!
-[] What do you bring with?

[] Play along. You know he's going to try to poison you, so just don't eat anything until Uncle gets here!

[] Be Proactive. There's this really sharp knife out by Daddy's workstation outside. You always play before dinner, so it shouldn't be a problem to 'borrow' one of his tools while he's inside with his friends...

My Little Murder: Patricide is Magic!

...You can't let Daddy do this. Of course, this could all be a big mistake. After all, you're almost a big girl, and Daddy said even big girls make mistakes sometimes. That's what Uncle and Daddy said about Mommy. So you resolve to talk it out with Daddy, and make sure everything is told to you.

With Knives. Lots of shiny, pretty knives.

DING DONG DING DONG....DING DONG DING DONG

Oh, somebody's here! It's probably Uncle, because all of Daddy's friends seemed to have shown up by now. You hear scuffling, like a bunch of people are suddenly in a hurry, and you walk down the stairs, across the hallway and into the living room to find...It's empty. Well, Daddy and Uncle are inside, but none of Daddy's friends seemed to be around any more. Strange, you all heard them a minute ago.

"Ahri! How's my favorite niece today?" Uncle says in his usual loud, friendly manner. You blush and momentarily forget about Daddy's goings-on, because you're the only niece Uncle has!

"Unccccle! I'm your ONLY niece!" You say. Uncle laughs and grabs you quickly, spinning you around and sitting you on his shoulder. You're getting bigger, Uncle clearly has trouble keeping you on top of him. Uncle is wearing his cloak today, with his black-jean pants clinging to his legs. It doesn't help that Uncle is a bunch skinnier than Daddy, more resembling a stick-man to Daddy's snowman body.

You idly hope you turn out more like Uncle than Daddy.

"How do yoooooou know?" Uncle replies back in a sing-song voice, clearly under some difficulty.

"Becaaaause your brother killed everyone else!" You say back, pouting. Uncle goes quiet more a moment, before hefting you off his shoulder. Oh no, did you make him mad? Does Uncle wants to kill you too now?!

Uncle ruffles your hair, putting aside your worries. "That he did, Aria, that he did. And I intend on paying him dividends." Uncle smiles a smile that slightly scares you, but looks...familiar, somehow.

Daddy clears his throat, "Hello Aria. Since you're down among us now, what would you like for dinner?"

You glare at Daddy, before looking at Uncle and quickly looking away. "...I don't care. I wanna go outside."

Daddy furrows his brow, probably wondering how he'll be able to poison you without knowing what to make. Haha, you've outsmarted him for now!

"Yes...Well..." Daddy says, clearly dumbstruck that his daughter could be better than him, "...Would you watch her for a bit? 'Spose I have control of the menu tonight."

Uncle looks to you, then to him, and shrugs. "Sure. C'mon Arhi!"

You frown, not expecting Daddy to send someone to watch you, before figuring this is probably for the best. You walk out of the living room towards the hallway that leads to your stairs, but instead turn left and out the front door. Uncle goes first, motioning to someone-

Eeeek! Zombies!

You quickly turn to run back inside at the sight of the rotten flesh instinctively, but you stop when you hear Uncle chuckle. You turn in horror, expecting to see the hidden zombie eat your surprised Uncle, but...

...The zombie is just...standing there?

"Jeeves, bad! Look at that, you've gone and scared little Ahri-chan!" Uncle sure is weird, calling you his weird nicknames when he's about to be eaten!

"Aria, meet Jeeves. He's part of the crew that make sure I get from place to place safely." Uncle explained.

"But...do you have other people to help you too? Why just one zombie?" You're confused, Daddy only ever had one zombie, so why does Uncle talk like-

"Eternal Guard, fall in!" Uncle says, in a way that's way different from how he normally talks.

Suddenly, a whole mob of zombies appeared in the front gate. You tried to take the time to count them all, but once you got past ten five other guys jumped off the roof to stand near Uncle! These guys were really scary, they were all red instead of the usual ash-grey color of Zombies, and they just seemed to have skulls instead of heads...or were they wearing skulls?! Gross!

Instead of hands, they had three giant claws that looks razor sharp.

Cool.

"Protect." Uncle says again, sternly.

All the zombies, including Jeeves, shamble off. Except the red ones, they run.

"...Okay. Can I play now?" You finally manage to say, still awe-struck. Uncle laughs.

"Hang on sweetie, why were you sharp with your Dad back there? You know good girls don't talk like that." Uncle says, chiding you. You puff your cheeks and begin walking around your house, toward Daddy's shed.

"Daddy won't let me talk with the big boys anyway! He has all his friends come over here, and they all talk in the living room, and when I try and come down Daddy tells me to go outside or go to my room! It's unfair!" Uncle raises a curious eyebrow at that.

"Have you ever heard what they were saying...?" Uncle says, a weird look on his face.

"No." You say, scuffing up dirt. Wait, you had! Just now!

"Wait! Just now Daddy had his friends over, before you were here! They said something about rebellion, Totems, and poison." Uncle really had a funny look on his face after that.

You feel the tears coming into your eyes remembering your revelation, "I think...I think Daddy wants to poison me. For being a bad girl and...re-balling. Rebeling. Rebelling!" You manage to stutter out.

Uncle looks at you, darkly. "Well. We can't let him do that."

"Really?! You'll help me?!" You exclaim, joyously.

"What did you have in mind?"

You ponder your plan some more, "Well, I was gotta get the sharp knife from Daddy's work shed and talk to him with it. Why?"

Uncle looks at you, stunned. What, was it really that bad of a plan? Then, all of a sudden, he smiles that weird, wide smile again.

"Atta girl. Here, let me help." Uncle walks over to Daddy's Work Shed and pulls out something long and shiny from his cloak...Uncle has a Sword? Since When?!

Uncle uses the sword to cut off the lock that kept the doors from opening, before taking a peek inside. You heard a sharp moaning noise and then the slash of Uncle's sword again, before he finally came out. You noticed he was wiping off the sword, now stained in red-black.

"Go on in. I'll bring him out to chat with. Don't worry, it's our little secret about the knife, and the door and the meetings, okay?" You nod as he puts his sword back into his cloak, and you can briefly see the holster of a handgun inside there as well. Does Uncle always go out like this?

As you watch him walk off, thinking you have the coolest Uncle ever, you remember that you're supposed to be talking to Daddy, so why did Uncle ask you to keep it a secret? Oh well.

Stepping inside, you spot the gleaming knife on the table, along with...a headless zombie? Weird. Just as you picked up the knife and were about to explore more, you hear someone behind you.

"Aria? Wha-What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you not to come in here? And...Why is my helper's head missing?!" Daddy says, beginning to yell at you.

You turn, not quite hiding the knife but not brandishing it. You can see that Daddy is slowly getting redder with each second you don't answer, but you can also see Uncle creeping up behind him...He reaches into his cloak and slowly pulls out a gun. As he silently puts it to the back of Daddy's head, he looks at you, Waggling his eyebrows in encouragement. Does he want you to talk, or...

You turn the knife in your hand, just a bit.

First Blood
-X-
You turned the knife over in your hand again. It was a really nice knife. Daddy only ever let you have pretend knifes, and they were a lot lighter than this one. You try and imagine what this knife is like for Daddy, he's a lot bigger than you, so this knife probably feels like a dinner knife to him!

But to you, it feels like you're Uncle, wielding his sword.

It's a lovely feeling.

[+10 Madness]
[Guess what everyone? We're at the end of Character Generation, and you know what that means! Stats!]

Imagining how awesome it was, watching Uncle power through the door and imagining him doing the same to a bunch of people, you smile a broad smile and walk up to Daddy, carefully holding the Knife behind you.

"Aria! Aria Hastur Crowley! You will answer your father right now! What are you doing in MY WORKPLACE?!"

Daddy was really red-faced now. He probably didn't like his little girl defying him. Tough noodles, isn't it?

"But Daddy, can't we just talk?" You say, smiling and turning your head to the side. From there you can see Uncle make a face of disapproval, but he didn't do anything yet. For the best, really.

"What- Aria! You are in so much trouble young lady!" Daddy says, practically foaming at the mouth.

You pout. Why did it have to come to this? It was obvious that Daddy was going to kill you once you got inside, that he didn't want to talk. Or...maybe Uncle is jumping to conclusions? You know Daddy said some other words, words that didn't make sense if he wanted to kill you...

But on the other hand, pretty knives.

You smile, "Daddy, you're the one in trouble. Uncle says hello~"

Daddy's face lights up in fear. Haha, that's such a funny look on Daddy's fat face! He turns around to see Uncle with the weapon at his head, and a twisted smile on his face. Uncle seems to like where this is going,

"Hiya Aleister! Nice to see you try to kill me behind my back! Too bad little Arhi-chan knows better, eh? She's got something for you though, since you were such a loving father!"

Daddy just dumbly looks back at you, and sees you just in time to watch you wind up a slash! Before he can gaggle out any protests, you swipe your hand right across his belly! Almost immediately, his shirt stained red and seemed to bulge a little.

As he fell to the ground, Uncle put his gun away, got out his sword again, and took Daddy's head clean off.

That was weird of him.

"Uncle, why go through getting out the sword?" You ask quizzically, as the blood starts pooling on the ground.

Uncle just smiles and shrugs. "It didn't seem fair for you to use a blade and I use a gun. C'mon Aria, let's go back to my house."

Yayy! You get to go to Uncle's house! You turn away first, and idly notice that Uncle seems to bend down to collect something. Frankly, you're more interested in what you see in Daddy's workshop mirror.

That smile that looked weird and twisted on Uncle's face, but familiar? You remember why.

You're wearing that same smile now.

[-40 Evil]
---

You decide taking Daddy's knife along is for the best, but chose to leave everything in your room how it was. You're not sure why, but you have the feeling what happened to Daddy is going to hit you sooner or later, and being around your childhood things would only make it worse.

You don't really know how you knew that.

Walking along with Uncle in silence, you look around the landscape. It's the same gated Community you always remembered, but weirdly there's a lot more broken windows than you remember. Some gunshots could even be heard in the Houses! You wondered if any Zombies got at your neighbors. For that matter, you wonder what happened to Daddy's friends, didn't they all live here?

Oh well. They never talked about anything around you anyway, so you don't care.
---

You made it! You're at Uncle's house! And oh boy, house is a generous word for it too! It was almost like one of those old-time Cathedrals that Daddy sometimes showed you pictures of. Actually...it looked a lot like one of those Cathedrals, except the brick was a kind of black-red color.

Still super cool.

---

It's been a few days since you moved in. Daddy's death hit you that first night, but Uncle was there to help you through it. You don't know if you're really over it, like anything could trip you over the line sometimes...

[+50 Madness]

Other things have happened too, like this morning when Uncle called you into his...Chair room, I guess?

It was early, and you were just barely coherent. Uncle collected your sleepy self, and carried you off, saying that you and him were going to have a talk. You mumbled something and he laughed, still carrying you.

Eventually, you came to a really big room. Uncle said this was where people used to have Church and sit and listen to 'sermons'. This was also where Uncle kept his big chair. It was massive, actually requiring some climbing to get into. The chair was weird, make out of some bleached-white...stuff. They were chalky and jagged and misshapen, like they didn't all come from one place.

Eventually, he got into his seat and sat you on his lap.

"Ahri-chan," He began, no longer using the voice you were accustomed to hearing, "We've got to figure out what to do with you. I'm a dangerous man Ahri, and sometimes it's not gonna be safe to be here, or around me at all. Plus, you have to grow up eventually. What do you want to be when you grow up, Arhi-chan?"

You were still sleepy, but you remember being perfectly clear when giving your answer.

[] Write In

Uncle smiled, "Well, to do that, we're going to need to get you to be the best little girl an Uncle could ask for. Think about what you what you want to start learning soon, okay?"

You mumble something, eager to get back to sleep, Eventually, you remember being back in your bed once more.

You thought about it, now that you were rested. What did you want to learn?

[] How to fight. You want to be able to protect yourself, in case anything bad might happen and Uncle isn't around.

[] How to really talk. You wanted to be able to talk like Uncle, to be smart and know a lot of people.

[] Normal stuff. All this...fighting stuff is something you don't want to think about. You want to learn about mundane things.

You suppose you should go and tell Uncle, as soon as you decide.
-X-

Congrats everyone, after this vote Aria will be set to live out life as a Necromancer! Now let me explain the Stats you've acquired thus far:

Good/Evil: This one should be fairly simple, capping at 100/-100 respectively. Good points for good things, Evil points for bad things. There are two notable differences, Grey Points and Moral Resistance. Grey points are awarded for doing morally grey actions, and actually lower your Good/Evil score to zero. If you're already at zero and acquire more Grey points, you build up a bank of them that gets decreased when you do a good or evil action.

Moral Resistance is something else entirely. For each point of Good/Evil you get, the following point is harder to obtain. That means going from -90 Evil to -100 Evil is a lot harder than going from 0 to -10. Also, this goes the opposite way, attempting to 'redeem' yourself is harder at -40 than it is at -10.

Madness works a little differently. It too is a scale from 100/-100, but adds a corrupting element. So spending time amongst people at Madness 100 or any other high number will be bad for you, considering positive numbers are more Mad. Needless to say, People at -100 Madness will be a calming influence.

Mental Resistance is almost the opposite of Moral Resistance, it's far easier to slink into 100 Madness. However, it is still harder to be 'cured' of Madness or fall into it yourself.

Other than that, have fun!

One more thing:

[] Vote for Aria's Official Picture Here. I'll change it at my own discretion, but you all can set the base look.

O.1- The Three Amigos
I said I'd update, and I didn't. Well, I didn't really promise anything, but this idea was kicking around so I made it anyway. Hopefully you can pick out who Uncle is from all the clues so far. I'm still not going to tell you without sufficient evidence to your guess, though. :p

Omake: The Three Amigos

The Throne Room was a horrible place to hold meetings, in terms of security. The old Cathedral Sanctuary was built to be impressive, with stained glass and architecture to maximise the echo effect of the preacher. Now, the glass is broken and re-boarded, but there has been no attempt to soundproof the room.

It's very telling that the lord of the house holds his meetings here.

Said man was also sleeping, pitched over in his throne and napping soundly. It has been a long day for him, after all.

Of course, there were meetings to be held, and he never sleeps that much anymore, anyway.

Two cloaked figures walk in, one carrying himself with a straight back and the other just looking around, as if in a small reverence to the Sanctuary. The master of the house sleeps lightly, and is awoken by the intruder's loud footsteps. He immediately draws a gun, before growling as he puts it away.

"Put down your fucking hoods, we're inside. Aren't you hot as balls?" He says, sitting up.

They both comply, with the one who was paying respect to the surroundings taking of the cloak entirely. He was a strongly-built man, all muscles packed in a 5'10 frame. The other plopped down into a pew, he was less developed yet taller. The un-cloaked one spoke first.

"Hayes, why are we even wearing these? It's not like people don't know who we are. Well, Levi is probably more unknown than me, but still."

The house owner- Hayes- shoots a flat look back at him. "Daniel, why is it after all of this-" He motions to indicate the surroundings, "...You still insist on calling me by my last name. Not like people don't know who I am."

The other man-Levi-chimed in, "I'm with Dan on this one. If you're not gonna soundproof this damn room we have to at least try to keep some secrets.

Hayes just rolled his eyes, "Fine. You guys are no fun." Having said that, he gets up and slides down the lead-up to the throne to be on the same level as the others.

"What did you find?" Hayes asked, trying too hard to sound nonchalant.

Both of them groan at the same time, "Jesus christ man, just give it up. We didn't find anything, we won't find anything, and all we're doing is making people ask questions. Even if she's not dead, she's probably not going to come back to you." Levi said.

Hayes wants to get mad at him, to hit him for talking down to his better. Yet, they've all been friends for so long, and frankly Daniel could kick his ass, so he's more among equals here than anyplace else.

And Levi's probably right. That too.

Daniel pipes up next, "Dude, I get it. I was friends with her too. But she left you for a reason, you know that. Face it, we're not the good guys."

Hayes looks at him, "There are no 'good guys'. Only degrees of guilt."

There was a pause. "Uh, Rood." Levi says.

...

Hayes moves on, "Where's Connor?"

Levi smirks, "We ditched him. He's still looking, probably thinks that finding her would earn him a book." He flashes his Necronomicon to provide context.

Hayes rolls his eyes at the mention of the final 'apprentice'. "Great. Awesome. Maybe he'll get killed."

"Aw, now that's a bit harsh man." Daniel says weakly, as if he himself didn't quite believe it.

There was a moment of silence before they all burst out laughing.

A while after they all settled down, Hayes went into the final bit of news, "Oh, and I'm adopting a girl. She's sleeping in the Monk Cells."

That got the others attention, "So you're a dad now? Grats. How long before she becomes a psychopath?" Levi asked.

Hayes smiled, "Too late."

Daniel laughed as Levi rolled his eyes. "So who's child is it?"

Hayes smirked. "Mine."

Levi deadpanned a look, "So who's child is it?"

Hayes rolled his eyes, "One of my underlings. He let his daughter listen in on his plans to assassinate me, and thought he was going to kill her. So I helped her get rid of her problem."

Another pause, again with Levi speaking up, "That'll do it."

Hayes leaned back against the Throne-Walk, "Wanna meet her? You guys can stick around if you want."

They both shrug.

1.5- Duty Calls
Duty Calls
--
You were still sleepy, but you remember being perfectly clear when giving your answer.

"I wanna be a magical girl..." You mumble, attempting to burrow into Uncle's arms.

There was a silence you noticed, but eventually you remember moving. Uncle must be taking you back, but there's something weird about him. You hear him softly,

"Fighting evil by moonlight, Winning love by daylight, Never running from a real fight, hmm..."

Haha, Uncle is so funny~

[+5 Madness]
--

You thought about what Uncle said. Uncle wants to teach you how to get by, which is something Mommy did before...

...Shouldn't she be here? Hmm, that's something to ask Uncle later.

Anyway, Uncle wants to teach you what he knows. To be honest, you're not really sure what Uncle knows, besides how to fight bad guys and what to say to make people do what he wants. While the last part sounds kinda fun, you rationalize with your pre-pubescent mind that learning how to fight against bad guys is the next logical step to Uncle teaching you his magic!

Obviously!

Getting changed from your sleeping clothes, you look around for your regular clothes. Strange, why aren't they in the closet...

...whoops, all the things you left back home include the clothes...

Uncle seems to have fixed that though, because opening the closet you find all sorts of things to wear. There are some normal white shirts and shorts and stuff, but hanging up you notice a couple things;

That's...weird. How did Uncle get these clothes? Ether he had them already, or he got them on short notice, or...?

Well, they seemed too big for you anyway, but why are they in your closet...? Oh well, no use worrying about it.
--

Wearing a simple white short and shorts, you wander the halls outside your room. It's full of really narrow hallways outside, with no one there. It's getting really creepy, especially when you don't hear anything-

EEK! ZOMBIE!

Just as you're about to turn and run, you take a look back over your shoulder and notice something...

...oh, this is the same zombie you ran into outside Daddy's house! He really scared you then, but what is he doing now...?

He's...pointing? You saunter up to him and peer down the hall, and at the end of the hallway there's another zombie pointing you down a different path.

Ohhh! It's like a scavenger hunt, you have to find Uncle!

You skip down the hallway, eager to start your Quest!
--

Aww, that's no fun! It wasn't even hard to find all the zombies pointing the way!

Pouting, you enter the really big room that you remember from this morning and see Uncle with two other people over by Uncle's big chair. Skipping over to him you call out, "Unnnncle! Why didn't you tell me the zombies would come for me! I almost totally beat one of them up!"

All three of them look at you, making you feel a little uncomfortable.

"Hi there." The guy to your right says. You turn to him, and see that he's sitting down in the pew. He's wearing a black and red cloak kind of like what Uncle was currently wearing, though Uncle was wearing a really ornate suit.

"This is the girl, Hayes?" The other guy asks. You turn to him, and you see that he's wearing regular clothes. You wonder who Hayes is and why he's not dressed like the other guy and Uncle, before you notice a cloak identical to the other one hanging over the...bench? Must've took it off.

"...Yeah, actually. Aria, these are my friends Levi," Uncle gestures to the guy sitting in the pew, "And Daniel." He points to the one with his cloak off.

"We were just talking about you, Aria." Levi says, smiling at you. While he's smiling at you, there's something...off. Like he's smiling at you, but he's just acting like it.

"About five seconds ago, actually." Daniel chimes in. You look at him, and he smiles too. He doesn't smile as wide, but you can kinda see it in his eyes, like he's glad you're here. Even though you've never met...?

"Hello." You smile at both of them and do a little curtsey-bow, a little embarrassed. "Uncle...I thought about what you said. I wanna learn how to fight..." You taper off as everyone in the room stares at you. You shuffle your feet.

"Welp, you're right about it being too late, for sure." Levi eventually says. That doesn't make any sense to you...

"Told you. Anyway, I'm glad. Do you still have your knife?" Uncle asked gently. He's probably expecting that you threw it away, but why throw away such a pretty knife?

[+5 Madness] [-5 Madness]

Huh, as you said that you feel a little...empty. Like you didn't really have the energy to mean it. You're not tired...?

Anyway, you answer Uncle, "Yes Uncle, I'll always keep it with me." You display the knife for the three friends. You remember slashing up Daddy with Uncle, but it's only a little smile on your face right now...

[+10 Madness] [-10 Madness]

Uncle smiles, "Good. If you like, we can start today. I wanted to teach you how to properly sneak up on-"

Suddenly Uncle goes very rigid. Uncle looks at you very...strangely, like he's looking into your soul, "Aria. Pick someone to teach you. I've got to work, now." Levi and Daniel snap to attention at that.

"Uhh...Aria, why don't you grab one of us? The other will go to work with your uncle." Daniel says, eying both you and your Uncle.

What's going on? Why do you have to choose? I mean, if you did, you'd...

1.6- Red Dawn
I tried to have you pick the fun option, but you guys had to be all reasonable.
So, with that in mind, time to write with a Low Blood Sugar and a Computer summer camp to attend in the morning. Dedication ho!
Then again, I should've gotten this out way sooner. Blame girls. In fact, blame the girl currently nearest to you, right now. Let me know what they say. :p

Final Arc: Red Dawn

You frown. Looking up to the increasingly tense form of Uncle, you ask the only question you really dare in such a...stressed environment.

"Why not both?" You say, looking up to the wide-eyed forms of Daniel and Levi. Both of them look at Uncle, who is looking off into the distance.

"Why not both? Da da da da da da daaaaa. Levi, with me. I'm taking the girls up, so I need you on the ground." Uncle snarls, before stalking away with his cloak billowing behind. Levi takes a look at you, and you find...utter indifference. Like he couldn't care what happened, even if the place was collapsing.

...He's scary. And Uncle's going off with the scary man, and he's mad, and did you do something wrong?!

You can't help to stop the tears from falling, vivid memories of what happened with Daddy coming back...

[+20 Madne-

Suddenly, big arms wrap you up in a hug and gently lift you up from the ground. He switches his grip by tossing you in the air a little, and holds you bridal style so you can see his face.

Daniel is smiling at you. "So, Aria, do you happen to have a Knife for us to use?"

[...-10 Madness.]

You manage a little smile back, though the tears, "It's a really big knife..."

You both smile together.

"So, we're going to play Hide and Seek. Except for one thing..." Daniel looks at you. He's led you far aways into Uncle's house that you're totally lost. He brought you to a room, and soon one of the friendly zombies milling around the place wandered in. Daniel paused for a quick moment to consider, and then took out a knife and stabbed it through the eye.

He drug it onto the table, tore off what little clothes it had left, then began making marks.

He made little Xs down at where the Zombie's ankles are, right on the back on top of that bulging...thing.

"That's the Achilles Tendon. If you cut a human or zombie there, they pretty much will never walk again."

Moving up, he made little circles on the outside of both legs.

"Now, on humans, there are important arteries and veins around this area that if you slice just right, you can make a human bleed to death. Be careful though, it's hard to do and would do nothing to a zombie."

Moving up more, he makes an X right a little ways above the zombie's butt.

"That's the base of the spine. Like the Achilles Tendon, if you hit someone there, human or zombie, they aren't moving again."

You make sure to pay extra attention to that one, because it's right at your height.

"Finally, to make sure it's not too complicated, we have one more target for you." He draws big circles on the zombie's back. "These are about where the Lungs are on anybody. Your knife is big enough that if you really tried, you could stab into them. If you do it right, a human's lungs will fill up with blood and it'll be a lot harder for them to scream out that you're there. Be careful though, it won't do anything to a zombie."

After waiting a moment as Daniel debates setting more targets, he finally sets you off to run around the base. Your job is to sneak up on the zombies without them noticing and hit one of the targets.

Best. Teacher. Ever.

[Stealth-D: You can reliably move silently, albit at a slower pace. Sneaking up on more than one person, or someone particularly alert, is likely beyond your ability]

[Combat Trick: Assassin Style- You know exactly where to strike to take down somebody, and can do it unfailingly so long as you get the drop on them]
--
You don't always manage to hit the targets right, and the base of the spine was a shock when you realized you needed to stab a lot harder to actually get through it. But you got the hang of it, and most importantly, memorized all the targets Daniel set.

Hunting the last zombie, you find yourself on an upper floor's hallway. Just when you think you've caught him, the zombie turns abruptly to attention. Bursting from the doorway, a red-headed girl emerged. She stretched out and yawned loudly.

She looked left. She looked right. Then, she made a 'tut' noise and disappeared back into the room from which she came.

...That was weird.

2.1- A Harvest Moon, So Aptly Named
Part One: A Harvest Moon, So Aptly Named.

Harruph. That's not fair, the zombie can't stand with his back to the wall like that! All the other ones were just milling about, this one can't go and change the rules. Well, people don't usually mill about, so it's probably appropriate.

Still. Not fair!

Trying your best to stalk along the walls, your knife ends up making scraping noises that get's the zombie's attention.

[Stealth D Check- FAIL] {No Dice in this Quest, just comparing your skill letter to the target's resistance to the skill. A detailed write-in will give various +++'s to your Skill letter}

The zombie turns sharply to regard you, and for a moment you're scared this one will attack you for being someplace you're not supposed to. You hope you're not in trouble...

But then as soon as it sees you, it turns to stand at attention again. Rude.

Oh well, stabby stabby!

Taking the time to prepare, you carve 'AC' into his chest. Then, you get around behind him and cut the tendons like Daniel showed you, causing the zombie to fall to the floor. As he's lying there, you wonder...

Daniel said that stabbing the base of the spine was effective, but what about the base of the neck? Is there anything there even worth considering?

[] Stab the Base of the Neck
[] Stab the Base of the Spine

Anyway, after the stabbing, you consider going back to Daniel to tell him everything was completed, but you're curious about the red-haired girl. Such pretty colors, and you looooove Red.

Slipping through the open crack of your door, you find...

[Stealth D Check-PASS]

...red-haired girl doesn't have a shirt on. It was a bit surreal, because this is the first time you've seen ANYBODY shirtless, not including yourself. Oh, she had to wear that thing around her chest too! Always nice to know you're not alone in things."

You watch her for a bit, as she shuffles about her bed and her closet, presumably for a different shirt. Her room was...Red. Very red. Not excessively ceiling-to-floor red, but...Red.

You like her.

Red-haired girl, in her Red room of Red, took a second to notice you. Once she did (considering you had nothing to hide behind), she paused.

"How long have you been there, little girl?" She asks.

You pause, wondering what an acceptable answer would be, before shrugging. "Not long."

Red-haired girl nods, before finally selecting a red shirt to put on. She was wearing a darker kind of red, and black pants that seemed to be really tight and uncomfortable! Also, while you were waiting for her to finish dressing, you saw her put on some kind of necklace. You didn't really see what it was, but it looked like a star encased in a circle. It looked pretty.

Once she set herself, she turned to you. You fidgeted under her gaze for a little bit, not daring to speak. Eventually, she smiled. "Hi there! I'm Madame Red. What's your name?"

No way! Her name was even Red? Why can't you have a name like that?! You feel a bit overwhelmed with all the red.

[+10 Madness]

"A...Aria. Aria Hastur Crowley!" You stammer out in the presence of such Red.

Red noticed you smiling, "I see~" She says, walking over to the door with a bounce in her step. There's something...off about her, but you can't tell what. She's really fun and nice though, like Uncle!

Maybe she's a Magical Girl! Squeeeee!!!!!!!!

[+5 Madness]

She opens the door and spots your stab-victim.
"You?" she asks, pointing outside. You nod enthusiastically. She smiles another pretty smile.

"Well, I'm going off to visit one of my friends. Want to come along, Aria-chan?" She asks, using a nickname common to...Uncle. Huh.
