I said I'd update, and I didn't. Well, I didn't really promise anything, but this idea was kicking around so I made it anyway. Hopefully you can pick out who Uncle is from all the clues so far. I'm still not going to tell you without sufficient evidence to your guess, though.
Omake: The Three Amigos
The Throne Room was a horrible place to hold meetings, in terms of security. The old Cathedral Sanctuary was built to be impressive, with stained glass and architecture to maximise the echo effect of the preacher. Now, the glass is broken and re-boarded, but there has been no attempt to soundproof the room.
It's very telling that the lord of the house holds his meetings here.
Said man was also sleeping, pitched over in his throne and napping soundly. It has been a long day for him, after all.
Of course, there were meetings to be held, and he never sleeps that much anymore, anyway.
Two cloaked figures walk in, one carrying himself with a straight back and the other just looking around, as if in a small reverence to the Sanctuary. The master of the house sleeps lightly, and is awoken by the intruder's loud footsteps. He immediately draws a gun, before growling as he puts it away.
"Put down your fucking hoods, we're inside. Aren't you hot as balls?" He says, sitting up.
They both comply, with the one who was paying respect to the surroundings taking of the cloak entirely. He was a strongly-built man, all muscles packed in a 5'10 frame. The other plopped down into a pew, he was less developed yet taller. The un-cloaked one spoke first.
"Hayes, why are we even wearing these? It's not like people don't know who we are. Well, Levi is probably more unknown than me, but still."
The house owner- Hayes- shoots a flat look back at him. "Daniel, why is it after all of
this-" He motions to indicate the surroundings, "...You still insist on calling me by my last name. Not like people don't know who I am."
The other man-Levi-chimed in, "I'm with Dan on this one. If you're not gonna soundproof this damn room we have to at least
try to keep some secrets.
Hayes just rolled his eyes, "Fine. You guys are no fun." Having said that, he gets up and slides down the lead-up to the throne to be on the same level as the others.
"What did you find?" Hayes asked, trying too hard to sound nonchalant.
Both of them groan at the same time, "Jesus christ man, just give it up. We didn't find anything, we
won't find anything, and all we're doing is making people ask questions. Even if she's not dead, she's probably not going to come back to you." Levi said.
Hayes wants to get mad at him, to hit him for talking down to his better. Yet, they've all been friends for so long, and frankly Daniel could kick his ass, so he's more among equals here than anyplace else.
And Levi's probably right. That too.
Daniel pipes up next, "Dude, I get it. I was friends with her too. But she left you for a reason, you know that. Face it, we're not the good guys."
Hayes looks at him, "There are no 'good guys'. Only degrees of guilt."
There was a pause. "Uh, Rood." Levi says.
...
Hayes moves on, "Where's Connor?"
Levi smirks, "We ditched him. He's still looking, probably thinks that finding her would earn him a book." He flashes his Necronomicon to provide context.
Hayes rolls his eyes at the mention of the final 'apprentice'. "Great. Awesome. Maybe he'll get killed."
"Aw, now that's a bit harsh man." Daniel says weakly, as if he himself didn't quite believe it.
There was a moment of silence before they all burst out laughing.
A while after they all settled down, Hayes went into the final bit of news, "Oh, and I'm adopting a girl. She's sleeping in the Monk Cells."
That got the others attention, "So you're a dad now? Grats. How long before she becomes a psychopath?" Levi asked.
Hayes smiled, "Too late."
Daniel laughed as Levi rolled his eyes. "So who's child is it?"
Hayes smirked. "Mine."
Levi deadpanned a look, "So who's child is it?"
Hayes rolled his eyes, "One of my underlings. He let his daughter listen in on his plans to assassinate me, and thought he was going to kill
her. So I helped her get rid of her problem."
Another pause, again with Levi speaking up, "That'll do it."
Hayes leaned back against the Throne-Walk, "Wanna meet her? You guys can stick around if you want."
They both shrug.
