Question: If we decide to fight, does that mean we start having to deal with bullet hell mechanics?

Because I'm in favor of any option that allows us to avoid bullet hell mechanics.

Wait. Is Ignore Aya a secret vote for "Take Aya along as she inevitably stalks us to get the scoop"? Because I am all over that. Please stalk and/or accompany Mokou, Aya. I'm sure Tenshi will appreciate your company as much as Mokou does.

[X] You have a mountain to climb and no daylight to waste. Fight the guard and get this over with.
-[X] Ignore Aya. She can't make you talk if you don't want to.

Given I haven't been able to watch any play throughs of the main games without muttering prayers to the Dark Beings under our feet, that's a no. Instead we'll be using the fighting game's Spell Card rules. I don't understand them either, but I can fake it.

I mean, kinda. She won't lift a finger to help in any way and I doubt she'll follow you to the mountain's summit, but she'll pester you for a while.

The vote is tallied and locked. Time to show this dog what for!

The part of Hatate in this image will be played by Aya.

[x] Talk your way past. Just because it's never worked before doesn't mean it won't now.
[X] Push past them. You'll never out run a tengu, but enough fireballs could make you more trouble then it's worth.

--[X] If push comes to shove, impale yourself on that sword to show them that you'll get past them eventually.
---[X] If that ends up happening, keep the sword. Even if it remains lodged within you. You can always just rip it out later.

For shame, you forgot a way to get to the moon: the LoLK method of going through Dreamworld :p.

I'm not sure Mokou is necessarily aware of that method, however. And it may be situational to the whole invasion incident, depending on if Doremy cut off the route or not.

-[X] Fight Aya too. Nip the paparazzi in the bud, it'll make things easier.

I have always found Aya grating.

Well~

This. Mokou doesn't know that way even exists. In fact, she's fairly ignorant all round about moving between dimensions. She's spent most of her immortal life dying then trying to make it stick before she found Kaguya. Then it was mostly killing and dying. And she was so busy with that she doesn't know the Lunar Invasion happened.

She's single minded like that.

Be that as it may, the vote is closed. Better luck next time!

So she probably knows a ton of unbelievably esoteric and strange ways to kill people, namely herself.

I bet she knows how to make every form of unquenchable fire.

You know the amazing number of ways you can die in a forest full of powerful, bored and creative youkai? Mokou does.

Maybe not unquenchable, but when you can burn anything, nothing can stop her from making more. Wood, bluidings, earth, rocks, her flesh, her life. It all burns.

Or, to paraphrase a famous line, "Twice as long, twice as bright."

I meant more along the lines of having tried Amaterasu (Naruto), which never extinguishes, and when that didn't work moving on to Fiendsfyre (Harry Potter), which incinerates everything, including soul vessels.

Like, it occurs to me the way you become an immortal fire mage is by looking for fire that can kill an immortal.

I wouldn't call Mokou a mage. She's clearly a user of flame, don't get me wrong, but labeling her a 'mage' makes it sound like a magical effect. While it's certainly magic to us, Gensokyo works on different standards. You could cast a magical flame, but you could also call on Koujin, god of fire, or make the spirit of a Salamander do your biding. You could raise the fires of hell, or have some type of inborn affinity with the blaze, and anything between the rest.

Personally, I view her ability as somewhat mundane compared to those, but perhaps more powerful for it. Evidence points to Mokou's fire mostly behaving like fire. The only thing she's really been seen doing with it are starting out of nowhere, and manipulating where it goes. If she wants to put it out she has to do it the hard way, and for more mystic effects she likely employs her skills in the sealing arts. So sometime in the thousand plus years Mokou spent as a undying suicidal vagrant, possibly in relation to many fires of fantastic origin she threw herself in, but who can say, Fire itself lent her its power.

She can start a fire however she wants, make it big as she wants, and it will burn as long as there is fuel. This is how I view that aspect of her power.

As far as I can tell Mokou is a mage in the same way that someone who knows how to use Wordpress is a webdesigner. She's been around long enough to pick up a thing or two, but no magician would consider it more than party tricks

Ohey, this is pretty cool.

Just gonna drop this here as a thinly-veiled excuse to ask how things are going.
