Miracles of Saint Lucretia of the Chains [Warhammer 40k] [Sisters of Battle/Eldar] [nsfw]

It is, I think, emblematic of how long it's been since I've last updated this story that I have managed to actually misspell the main character's name throughout the update.

I've lost the plot of the story; just keep reading for the prose. And I liked this. You get down to the basic idea, whether it's BDSM or religion. Someone take care of me.
Make me feel I matter.
Make sense of things.
Touch me and make me feel I'm real.
Protect me from the things that go bump in the night.
Take away my worries.

And those are true, regardless of whatever human (or alien) artifice gets accreted over them.
(Got more thoughts on sacrifice, ritual, and transcendence, but still working on them.)

Also, I'm wondering what a completely secular take on the 40K universe would be like.

I think a reading of Chaos as the collective paranoia, rage, desperation and despair of the galaxy makes sense, and there are probably relatively sympathetic interpretations of much of the factions (if nothing else in terms of being more managable/self-defeating/a result of non-permanent circumstances and survivable within that time frame). I could see an interpretation of this being the consequences of the collapses of the Human, Eldar, and perhaps whatever previous civilization's as the limits of discovering psychic powers and other stuff were reached and left them with gilded age on steroids views while stretched to the limit and rotting from the inside headed by unaccountable psychos who then pushed big red buttons and created massive collective psychic no-mans-lands in space.

My idea would be that probably the Daemons are so strong as they are basically echos of a much larger population all popped at once by various disasters, and that as time would go on Tyrannids end up downsizing through adaptions, the Orcs settle/end up being hilariously easy to trick into thinking anything green is just a shitty orc orc or goblin and populations just sort of work around them being massive hams, Daemons fade to much smaller levels as they burn through the energy that made them, etc. The Tau could be the main faction, with schisms in it's empire providing conflict. Weapons of the past era could be like super weapons and you could have more lower level combat and more mixed units in certain circumstances (Eldar and Imperium remnants not necessarily having to maintain old standards, Orcs who insist they're part of the same faction as you regardless of circumstances, Tyrannids that have conveniently evolved into bug dogs so people will do work for them, whatever excuse you wanna make).

So anyways Merry Christmas.
