Miracles of Ancient Wonder (RWBY/D&D Homebrew)

@Ericwinter, what is she? Is this some kind of sorcerer bloodline manifesting?
She's some kind of bird Faunus--hasn't mentioned the specifics yet--and you don't know. It could be She's a sorcerer, could be she's discovered normal Wizarding magic. Considering even Ozpin wasn't completely familiar with either, working on an entirely different system, it will take some effort to find the differences.
*coos*
Hungry birb. Does she have like, 5 stomachs?

[X] Introduce Aes.
-[X] "Yang, Lily, this is Aes. She's out here looking for some friends of hers who went missing. Aes, this is my sister Yang and my friend Lily. Don't worry, they won't hurt you."
I think it was less the hunger that was the problem and more the tiny healing that Goodberry provides that was sought after. She must have been really, really low on hp.
Not that tiny, each Goodberry heals three Wounds thanks to our Lifeshaper trait. That would mean she needed to heal 16-18 Wounds. For reference, Ruby only has 19 Wounds at Level 3 with a Constitution of 9, so yeah, she was in a bad way.
It was a combination of the two, really. Extreme, long-set hunger, and numerous old wounds that never healed properly among a few that were still in the process. Aes has lived a hard life.

[X] Introduce Aes.
-[X] "Yang, Lily, this is Aes. She's out here looking for some friends of hers who went missing. Aes, this is my sister Yang and my friend Lily. Don't worry, they won't hurt you."

"Yang, Lily, this is Aes." You say, stepping forward obliquely to place yourself between them and the faunus girl. "She's looking for some of her friends who went missing. Aes, this is my sister Yang and Lily. Don't worry, they won't hurt you." Yang's brow furrows at that, and you watch as she looks between you and the little girl behind you. Then her eyes alight on Aes's wings, and suddenly they soften in understanding. Lily, too, seems to take your explanation in stride. Relaxing his grip on his sword even if his body remains tense.

"Oh." Yang says after a moment, straightening self-consciously. "Does she…" Your sister trails off, clearly unsure of how to pose her question without giving too much away. You smile, but shake your head.

"I was getting to that. Aes is… she has a gift like mine, except not quite. I don't think she knows what our target is, though." Saying that, you glance back at the Faunus, who has at the least stopped trying to meld with the wall behind her, but is still watching the conversation warily.

"Is that a fairy?" She asks curiously at your gaze, pointing to Lily. "I didn't think they were real, but…"

"A lot of things are real." You answer easily, holding out your hand for a moment. Lily, ever-understanding, flutters over to land on it, before essaying a bow to your new friend. "As I said, this is Lily. He's supposed to be my protector."

"A pleasure to meet you, Lady Aes." The little fairy greets gallantly. "A shame it is in these awkward circumstances."

"I-I guess." Aes replies, looking utterly lost. Then she pauses, frowning. "Hold on, you said what your target is. If you're talking about the guy who took my crew…"

"I think so." You confirm gently, even as your lips twist into a sharp grimace. "We're not sure, exactly, but we think he might be a necromancer."

"Necromancer." The word is dull and disbelieving, but Aes's eyes sharp as they settle upon your own, the bronze orbs intense as they bore into silver. "You mean, like zombies and skeletons, necromancer." You nod slowly. It was just a theory, at the moment, but the only one you had to go on. As it is, you can only just hold back a wince at what she must be thinking. There's not much a necromancer could want with kidnapped children like her, and none of it good. Silence descends after that, until finally it is broken by Yang clearing her throat.

"So, uh… You want to help out?" She asks, just a touch awkwardly. Your eyes widen in surprise, but it is a fairly reasonable thought. If Aes's magic is anywhere near as powerful as your own, then she would be a valuable help, and she had just as much right to this is you. More, even. On the other hand, it would involve introducing her to Ozpin when you brought your findings to him, and you're not quite sure how that would work out. He shouldn't mind, but Aes might.

What do you do?

[ ] Ask Aes to join you as well, more firepower is always welcome.

[ ] Don't ask Aes for help. You've seen how desperate and fragile she is right now, and dragging someone into danger just doesn't sit right with you.

OOC: So I'm pretty sure I know how this is going to work out, but it was a good stopping point, and I figure auto-recruiting would be a little too much Agency-theft.

I imagine most children would want to go the famously good person who turns out to be an actual wizard for help when dealing with an actual Necromancer.

There's distrust of authority and then there's zombies.

Ruby, flexing: "I don't need firepower when I'm rocking these guns!"

Do we really want to reveal Ozpin's secret to Aes? It's not like she's got anyone to tell it to, but letting out Ozpin's secret too casually would be impolite at best.

Eh, Ozpin's the master of secrets.
He's like a secret cockroach.
Expose one secret and another ten pop out.

-[X] Warn her ahead of time that you'll have to introduce her to your teacher. On a good note, he could probably help her with her own magic too.

No need to reveal Ozpin's magic here. Short and simple is fine for now.

Probably should not get into the habit of outing Ozpin's magic. And not asking if she wants to join up might have her try to do something herself so...

Ah, guys, I think you may have gotten a bit confused here. As it stands, you can't invite both Aes and Ozpin on the mission without them meeting and learning about each other. It just doesn't make sense. Of course, you can always ask Aes along without taking Ozpin--you haven't even told him what you're doing yet--but that would leave you without your nice big safety net. If that is what you want, however, I'm gong to have to ask you to make a new vote with different flavor text, so I can tell it apart from the standard one which includes asking Ozpin.
EDIT: Also, it should be noted that in-character, Ruby assumes Ozpin wouldn't mind having another student, for a lot of reasons. The main worry here is how Aes would reat to Ozpin., not the other way around.

Wait, we already invited Ozpin? Okay, in that case can we just bring her along and subtly show Ozpin that the girl has obvious magic? The man is skilled enough to make his own intro without startling her too badly.

*Facepalm*
Let me clarify. No, you haven't invited Ozpin along yet. There was, hoewever, an earlier vote where it was decided that you would tell him after investigating the problem and you had proof. It hasn't happened yet, but is still slotted in unless you change your mind now that Aes is here. That's why I need a different vote to cancel the previous one, basically. You can try what you just said instead, but I can tell you right now it would be really difficult, both for me as a writer and Ruby in-character. There just isn't any other reason you would be bringing her along, and Aes would get really suspicious if you told an authority figure that you had found this starving, homeless person on the street and wanted to bring them with you on a raid into the necromancer's dungeon, and he just accepted it. Also, Ozpin doesn't really need to be shown that she has magic to figure it out himself if they come into contact, and would probably introduce his own magic to earn her trust, much like he did to you.
To be honest, as the DM, I don't quite understand your reluctance to reveal Ozpin's magic. That was never the reason I put a denial option in, and it's not really a concern. He has made it clear that the more resources he has to figure out why magic has suddenly changed, the better, and finding new magic-users is a part of that. He would want to meet Aes, so it's not like you have to worry about sharing a secret you weren't supposed to. The main problem Ruby has is worrying that Aes might not want to meet him. But hey, it's you guys' choice. I'm just here to explain things and make the world function.

You know. I've always had a soft spot for necromancy, but it's always the de-facto villain. Noone ever does evil Enchanters or Diviners.
Can you imagine how scary an evil Diviner would be? They know exactly what to do to make their plan succeed, when the players are going to attack, etc. Much scarier, IMO than 'horde of zombies and evil experiments'.

The paragraphs aren't separated again.

Hey sorry i've been inacive, had some stuff to do.
[X] ask aes if she wants to join up and meet professor ozpin, who's also a magic user
Its better if we vote for this because atleast then we'll have a support net incase if this goes pear-shaped.

"We really could use your help." You say after a moment's thought, Yang nodding along as you support her. "The more magic we have to fight, the better, and my teacher would love to meet you. He's been looking for more magic users."

"Teacher?" Aes asks, a little wariness creeping into her voice. "Who's that?"

"Well…" You start, hiding your wince. "You know the Headmaster of Beacon? Professor Ozpin?"

"Yes…?" Aes replies slowly, questioningly. Then her eyes narrow, and she takes a step back. "Wait, you can't be serious. The Headmaster of Beacon is your magic teacher?" And now she's looking around for an exit. Brilliant. Quickly, you continue talking, almost stumbling over your words as you rush to keep the girl from running away.

"It's okay Aes, really. He won't make you do anything you don't want to, and Ozpin is really cool. I've only just started learning from him, but I already trust him." There is a moment of hesitation, where it looks like the faunus girl doesn't quite believe you, but then she looks at your earnest face and something in it must have convinced her, because she relaxed slightly.

"You're sure?" Aes asks quietly, still searching your face. "You trust him?"

"Yes." You answer firmly, nodding. "I get it if you don't trust people with authority, I do. But Ozpin is nice, and he'll gladly help us. He's been trying to stop things like this necromancer himself too." Again, there is a moment of wavering, until you hold out your hand, beseeching. "Please, Aes. Trust me, if nothing else." That was enough. Aes takes in a deep, slow breath, before grasping your hand and shaking.

"Okay, Ruby. I'll meet him. I guess I owe you that much, for the berries. But beyond that, I make no promises." The smile that splits your face at her words is absolutely radiant, to say the least. This looked like the start of a beautiful friendship.

Gained Comapnion: Aes Flare

Interestingly enough, you don't go directly back to Beacon after that, a fact which seems to set Aes a touch more at ease, at least. First you have to check out the last area where children have been rumoured to disappear, and most likely the one where your target is currently based. Determining the exact location isn't difficult either. In an act so blatant it had to be on purpose, the necromancer appeared to have taken up residence in the oldest, creepiest building in the whole town, an abandoned mansion the likes of which could be found in horror stories the world over, standing upon a tall hill which paled in height only besides the cliffs under Beacon Academy. With the grounds almost glowing beneath your magical sight in some kind of magical ward--which Aes identifies as some kind of Divination effect--it is clear this is where you shall find your prey.

Eventually, however, you are forced to retreat by dint of the sinking sun and the need to inform Ozpin of what you have found. There is also the issue of Aes, and how you intend to introduce her.
How will you handle this?

[ ] Arrange a meeting with Aes and Ozpin before talking the necromancer issue at all. (May take a few days, but allows for the most interaction between them)

[ ] Tell Ozpin about the Necromancer, then let him meet Aes when you go to assault the mansion. (Will take a day or two, and allows for moderate interaction before the assault)

[ ] Bring Aes directly to Ozpin, and drag him out to deal with the necromancer as soon as possible. (Begins the assault ASAP, but Ozpin and Aes will have little time to interact)

OOC: Sorry this took a few days, I got distracted. Give me a few minutes and I'll throw up a character sheet for Aes and the Arcane spell list.

Healthy medium. Doesn't sacrifice too much time, and allows Ozpin to meet Aes without feeling rushed.
