There is no one cause of CO Powers, and the idea that they're the same is just abstraction. Olaf and Drake use Whether Control technology, Red Alert style, Andy and Jessie deploy engineer squads and fuel ttucks respectively, Eagle turns on his forces afterburners, Colin and Sensei are fairly obvious and so on.

Like this, except the mix is distributed among Powers, not per Power.

I'm taking Orange Star, but I'm not doing one of the established CO's.

Instead, I'm doing something a bit different:

I am not sure how much this is common knowledge, but like in Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword, the player assumes a role of an a battlefield adviser who helps and coordinates the movements, battles, and operations with the deployed CO in Advance Wars One. Just like Mark in Blazing Sword, the Adviser is a blank state character who is addressed during mission briefings and debriefings as well as cut scenes. And like Mark, s/he was never heard from again after the war. Here is a brief bio on Allen "The Raven" Dager:

Commanding Officer Allena "The Raven" Dager
Age: 29

The Cosmo Land Wars that ended in the first defeat of Sturm and his Black Hole army has left many unanswered questions that people are still struggling to answer. However, the greatest mystery is the fate of one of the War's greatest unsung heroines, for Commanding Officer Allena "The Raven" Dager has dissappeared soon after the war and was never heard from again.

An upstart military graduate from the Orange Star National Military Academy, Allena was quickly placed into the tutorage of renowned Orange Star CO, Nell. Soon after this initial assignment, she proven to be instrumental in the Cosmo Land Wars, being able to effectively advice and coordinate battles and swing them to victories for the Orange Star with the help of the other Orange Star commanders like Andy, Max, and Sami. With their combined talent and expertise, all four of them prove victorious over the forces of Blue Moon, Yellow Comet, and Green Earth. Eventually, they finally defeated the mastermind of the entire Cosmo Land Wars, Sturm, and returned peace to the lands.

Because of her efforts, she was rewarded with an officer's commission, and she herself became an official Commanding Officer of the Orange Star Armed Forces. Her first assignment was to investigate an abandoned Black Hole technology base and recover any technology that might have left behind. With a small force of soldiers, scientists, engineers, and extra help, they managed to recover a prototype tank that the Black Hole was developing but never finished in time before the war ended. But before they can report their findings to Orange Star HQ, the whole force, the tank, all of their relatively ample supplies, and Allena herself vanished without a trace, leaving a completely empty base as an only clue on what happened to The Raven...

How do you think? I am still thinking of more things to add like traits, personality quirks, and other stats to flesh out her character a bit more, but I think that this will be suffice for now...

Name: Corazon

Rank: General (Level 10)

Appearance:


Biography: Corazon's life was formerly quite uneventful, as he served as the gatekeeper for his remote village on the eastern edge of the continent of Valm. While he and his fellow villagers had heard about a conqueror who sought to unify the entire world under his rule, and who was revered as unto a god, he had initially paid it no mind. He didn't much care what men or gods did, as long as his friends and family were safe.

Needless to say, that quickly changed when a Valmese platoon rolled up to his gate one day, and demanded his village's fealty to Walhart or face destruction.

While the villagers could certainly defend themselves from the occasional bandit raid, a bunch of well-trained soldiers was another matter entirely. And so, Corazon's village became a part of the Valmese Empire.

While most of the villagers were pressed into providing supplies for Walhart's armies, some enterprising commander noticed that Corazon had the potential to be more directly useful to the Conqueror, and conscripted him into becoming a Knight.

Corazon proved to be a surprisingly effective member of Walhart's army, and he was remarkably diligent in his training. While many of his fellow grunts thought that this was due to some sort of fanaticism to the cause, his motivation was a good deal more practical. He reasoned that as long as he made himself useful and stood out from his peers, his village would be spared the worst of the Empire's cruelties. Walhart and his followers respected strength, if nothing else. In a sense, he was still doing his old job as gatekeeper, only in a much more indirect way.

Perhaps this was why when the Shepherds came to town, and resistance movements started sprouting up like mushrooms as the Valmese Empire suffered defeat after defeat, he and his company of troops were stationed near his village, in the hopes that his presence would keep the villagers from forming their own resistance.

Throughout his term of service, Corazon refused to cling onto any delusions about Walhart. He did not believe him to be a god, or destined to rule the world. In fact, he harbored some extremely treasonous thoughts comparing Walhrt to an overcooked lobster, even as he respected the man's ability to maintain such a large empire. As such, he was one of the few Knights that was relatively unaffected by the death of Walhart at the hands of Prince Chrom and Robin. As many of his fellow Knights had either died in battle, or deserted en masse when Walhart was killed, he was one of the only available Knights remaining when the Empire collapsed and the old kingdoms reformed. He soon found himself promoted to General, and at the behest of the king of the nation to whom his village belonged, was sent to Ylisse to assist in the rebuilding of Plegia.

And then the Outrealm Gate exploded and things got weird.
 
The characters/OCs I'll be using:

Will: A former student of the Rubinelle Military Academy taken in by Capt. Brenner after being rescued from raiders by the man. Will is idealistic, and shows potential as a leader. Unfortunately, his growth was set back by the loss of his mentor after a betrayal by Admiral Greyfield. He has also shown great care for an amnesiac young girl he rescued, who named herself 'Isabella'.

1LT Lin: The Second-in-Command of the 12th​ Battallion, Lin has proven herself a tactical genius on most occasions. She tends to be serious and possesses a dry wit, and cared deeply for her former CO. With Brenner gone, she has assumed de facto command of the 12th​, and is trying to ensure the survival of her unit, and the civilians and liberated POWs under her care.

Isabella: An amnesiac young girl rescued by Will, she nonetheless possesses extensive knowledge of global military matters, including troop strengths of entire nations and the locations of secret bunkers. She's typically quiet and kind, and has grown attached to Will, even more so after miraculously recovering from an infection that proved fatal to anyone else to anyone around her age that contracted it.


OCs:

Sgt. Max Harper:
A tank driver in the 12th​, Max has seen action since before the meteors fell. He's proven one of their more reliable tankers, and has even survived encounters with War Tanks. Max tends to be snarky to deal with the stresses of war and living in a post-apocalyptic environment, but hopes to settle down somewhere and live in peace. If only those damn raiders would stop it with the murdering and pillaging.

Cpl. Allison Campbell:
A medic in the 12th​, she joined because the Rubinelle Army would pay for her medical school education. Unfortunately, the college she was attending was turned into a smoldering crater along with most of the world when she was in the middle of a deployment. Nowadays she typically tends to civilians who've fallen ill as a result of the lack of basic medical care. Allison tends to put work first, and would turn to the bottle after seeing young children fall victim to the Creeper (if it weren't for the fact that all the booze has been looted).

Also, it appears I'm liberating a country with less than 2,000 dudes (and that includes the liberated POWs) and a handful of tanks. I'm not too sure about the terrain or the political situation, though.
 
So this looks interesting. Have absolutely no experience with FE, so which of the AW factions are still open?
