Best to end things here. You accept Kirijo-sempai's instructions and return to the entrance. Yukari-san is flush with the pride of accomplishment. Sanada-sempai seems pleased with the development of his junior teammate. And you...
You could've kept going. Kirijo-sempai's dispassionate report of your own exhaustion and almost depleted energy reserves doesn't matter. You had another floor in you, easy. Probably two or three. Maybe even more if Sanada-sempai took more initiative instead of making it very clear that he was treating this as practice.
And that was the problem, wasn't it? This wasn't an exploration mission. Not yet. This was the shakedown run to figure out how much you could safely handle. To get everybody comfortable with the idea of working together. Getting an idea of where your limits were. Establishing a baseline for more suggested training exercises.
It flew completely in the face of your previous combat experiences. You had plenty of context for crisis response. Fighting for seven days across the streets of central Tokyo you could handle. 'This person dies in five hours unless you do something to change that' you could handle.
There were no death clocks here. There was no deadline to Tartarus exploration. You suspect that Sanada-sempai, for all his enthusiasm and apparent love of fighting, will actively push back against attempts to self-impose such a deadline where none exists.
Logically you understand the point of all this being that it's better to do something right if there's no imperative to do it fast. That without a barricade to hold you in or the threat of the world ending in seven days, you could afford to take this slower than you otherwise would have. Afford to give yourself more opportunities to grow.
Opportunities that you apparently needed based on the way that the fatigue wasn't disappearing while you rested in the lobby of Tartarus or how much harder it was proving to be to use your own power unassisted.
Sorting through these emotions wasn't making it any easier to suppress your own growing frustration with all of this. In fact, the only thing it seemed to result in was allowing Sanada-sempai to sneak up on you, shoving an unopened water bottle into your hands.
"Drink it." You comply.
Sanada-sempai looks at you with concern. "You've got an out-of-this-world power, but you're still human. Honestly? I came into tonight expecting to be talking to you about how important it is to put your all into combat. Instead, we're going to have the opposite problem, aren't we?"
Oh, here we go. You suppress the urge to sigh.
"I get it. You've been through a lot, and picked up a lot more baggage than just what you can do in a fight. And you don't want to talk about any of it, which is fine for now. I'm not looking to pry. We're pretty sure that your power isn't directly hurting you, and that's the only thing I really cared about."
Sanada-sempai gives you a moment to speak up. If he's disappointed that you don't, he doesn't show it.
"But what you have to understand is, we're the only ones who can do this. And we're not going to be able to do this if we're sick or burnt out from overwork. So don't misunderstand. Just because we're taking this easy doesn't mean we're not taking it seriously."
Sanada-sempai casually adjusts his SEES armband while pointedly looking at your own unadorned sleeve. A moment passes before he stands up and offers you a hand up yourself.
"As long as you're going to help us out a little, it's my responsibility to help you out too. And I figured you'd want the explanation."
You pretty much guessed at most of it, and you're not going to claim you're not mad about... all of this, but you get it.
Instead of saying that or anything at all, you opt to simply grab Sanada-sempai's hand to help you pull yourself up. You're frustrated with how tired you are. Sanada-sempai frowns briefly when you take his hand before relaxing again.
But you're not so tired that you don't notice the feeling of a faint spark that ignites between your clasped hands, the same as that time you took Yukari-san's hand in the hospital.
The means by which human souls gain strength from each other... A Bond has formed between you and Akihiko Sanada.
"Well, that's all for now." Sanada-sempai smiles. "We should get going. Not too sure what happens if you're still inside Tartarus when the Dark Hour ends, and I'm not too sure we want to find out the hard way. Let's head back."
Right. You're going to fall asleep way too easily as soon as you make it into your bed.
Friday, April 17
Morning
Bang. Bang. Bang.
The sound of fists impacting wood rings unusually loudly in your ears. Your everything is sore.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
Maybe fighting the first boss was not the best idea in hindsight. The good news is you're still pretty much functional. Wiped out, but not to the extent you were coming out of your hospital stay.
"-wake up, Kazuya-kun-"
And why is it already so bright...?
Bang. Bang.
"-going to be late! C'mon, this isn't funny-"
Your vision finally settles enough coming out of the throes of sleep that you can focus on your unset alarm clock. You have overslept and missed your window of opportunity for breakfast entirely. Unfortunate. You're extremely hungry.
"Sorry, but I'm coming in if you don't say something!"
...oh. The banging is Yukari-san at your door. You're surprised she's still here. It's somewhat touching that she waited for you, actually. Almost enough to outweigh the complete injustice that is that she seems to be more or less back to 100% already whereas you are demonstrably not that.
You finally call out that you're awake, mostly to prevent the awkward situation of her barging into your room to make sure you're not unconscious again or something.
"Good! Hurry up and get ready, we probably still have time to grab something if you're fast!"
Well, you suppose you might as well see what Gekkoukan offers its students for breakfast.
So loud.
You supposed that's to be expected of any dining facility in a primarily boarding high school. The area is suffused with the pent-up energy of teenagers and you can feel it in a way that most can't, beyond the simple noise.
If you weren't already here and terribly hungry, you'd probably have just turned around and gone somewhere else for food. Yukari-san parted ways with you at the station and it wouldn't be the first time you showed up tardy anyway.
But you can't find it in you to do anything other than press on into the sea of humanity in search of something passable to feed yourself.
Of course, the Kirijo Group would not suffer to be seen providing anything less than the utmost of care towards the children under their charge. As such the food choices here are well above standard high school quality and more in line with what would be expected of a professional catering service.
None of it is quite as good as what is possible when you're trying to feed twelve people rather than 12000, but it certainly isn't bad. You manage to feed yourself adequately and do your best to block out the noise until breakfast is finished.
"Oh no oh crap sorry sorry I'm late sorry I really need to get throuuuUWAAAAAA-"
And then you make it as far as the entrance before your hopes of nothing interesting happening this morning are dashed against the weight of a teenage girl crashing into you from behind.
You stumble slightly as she bounces off of you.
"Sorry it's my fault I wasn't paying attention I'm really late please excuse me BYE!"
...you're pretty sure she didn't even notice you weren't looking at her. And she doesn't stick around, darting past you and out into the hallway, heading away from the classrooms. You kind of wonder where she'd be in such a hurry to get to.
You're pretty sure she was a student, although her uniform was covered by a yellow cardigan, and you couldn't see much else past her extremely long and extremely pale blonde hair. You wonder how anyone could stand to deal with having hair that came dangerously close to being full body length, but you're not one to judge people's choices about their own bodies. She feels Significant in a way you don't want to comprehend.
...Nope. Nope. This is not happening. You're not dealing with this.
You force the girl out of your mind and focus on heading to class, turning over your plans for the rest of the day in your mind.
Regarding Iori-san...
[] Talk to him alone during lunch again.
[] Talk to him alone after school.
[] Talk to him at lunch and get Yukari-san involved. You maybe don't trust the Kirijo Group or SEES, but you could trust her.
[] Talk to him after school and get Sanada-sempai involved. New potentials are supposed to be his responsibility, right?
[] Something else? (Write-in.)
You're still feeling pretty tired... You may choose one after school activity.
[] Head to the parkour gym and start working on your body. You're exhausted and definitely going to eat a lot of floor if you do this, but Sanada-sempai kind of had a point about relying on your power too much...
[] ...okay, fine. Sanada-sempai will probably spend time working with you if you ask and he'll probably even take it easy on you. Ask to spend time with him.
[] Try to meditate more in your room. You still don't really know a ton about meditation but you do have multiple angles you could pursue now.
- [] Focus on processing the events of the past several days.
- [] Focus on the lesson from the Shomonkai priestess and processing your own senses.
[] Self-guided magic practice! There's still plenty you can do independent of the Shomonkai's guidance.
- [] Practicing healing magic. You'd rather not have to rely on brilliance under pressure if and when your only other reliable source of heal spells stops being that.
- [] Six entire seconds! That's not remotely okay. You have to get faster.
- [] Maybe it was the tower's doing, but you were running through MP at an alarming rate.
- [] Something else. (Write-in.)
[] Okay, lesson one with the Shomonkai was beneficial. Return to the shrine for more teaching.
- [] Stick with the lesson plan as devised by the priestess.
- [] Ask to cut past the fundamentals and get to the practical applications. Namely... (write-in.)
[] Call your friends again for a check-in.
[] Spend some free time just wandering around alone, enjoying the sights, not thinking about anything.
- [] In the Station District.
- [] In the Museum District.
- [] On the Gekkoukan campus.
[] Something else...? (Write-in.)

Seems like she doesn't have a canon surname. But Google suggests that Niko Yamada would basically be the Japanese equivalent of Jane Smith #2, right?
Why, she's getting breakfast, of course! So many interesting new foods she hasn't gotten to try. Isn't it wonderful? Isn't life wonderful?

So in the interest of being more forthcoming, overworking yourself results in less time to spend on other things due to exhaustion. Had we chosen to just reach the access point and then stop, Kazuya would not be exhausted today (and, had we all voted to spit on 20% MP and keep going, you would've been able to get through five more floors to the next access point and boss before Akihiko dragged you back to the entrance and we would've ended up losing this entire day to 'you spend all of today sleepwalking through it').
I feel like I probably could've made that more clear instead of just relying on the narrative assumption of "you're not able to do as much when you tire yourself out beforehand." Whoops!
It isn't immediately obvious because the list of actions includes both physically strenuous activities (like gym, city exploration, or magic training) and some relatively relaxed ones (calling your friends) that you wouldn't expect to be affected by exhaustion.
Yeah, the gym choice got reworded because of it, Akihiko will in fact take it extremely easy on you if you take the 'spend time with him' choice, and I don't consider the 'walking around the city' options to be physically strenuous and therefore it won't be although that might just be an oversight on my part. You can still do these things the same way feeling out of it doesn't stop anybody in real life from dragging themselves out to the gym anyway.

[4] You chose to enlist the aid of Yukari-san regarding Iori-san.
[4] You chose to ask Sanada-sempai for his help.
Iori-san is at his desk when you arrive in the classroom. He seems far more subdued than he has in previous days.
That's both a good thing and a bad thing. He's not obviously panicked but he's also not at his normal level of overbearing energy. Resigned. In need of direction.
Like some of the refugees had been...
Iori-san might have looked exactly like this around the fourth day of the lockdown, and gone on to be one of the many lashing out in a dying world with an altered COMP that you'd have had to break two days later.
Yukari-san notices you staring and moves in for a conversation. "I can't remember Junpei ever being this quiet. What's up, you think?"
What do you think?
You think you probably could handle this situation alone if you had to, but you don't have to. You think that you still don't trust Kirijo-sempai, but neither does Yukari-san... and you're willing to keep investing trust into her, a little bit at a time. So you decide to tell her and enlist her aid.
He's awakened something within himself and now experiences the Dark Hour. We should talk to him about it.
Her eyes widen as you say that. "Wh-?! Kazuya-kun! That's-"
Class is starting. Let's talk about this over lunch.
Yukari-san fixes the nearest clock with a Look as though she's trying to will time to turn back on itself so that this can be discussed now. When that doesn't happen...
"Okay. Fine. But I'm going to want an explanation."
That's fine.
Friday, April 17
Midday
Iori-san agrees fairly quickly to meet you and Yukari-san on the roof after he's finished with his lunch. This has given you enough extra time to work out what precisely you want to say to him...
"Right then. So, first of all, how do you even know this?"
...and for Yukari-san to question you over this new development. You get the feeling that she's mildly irritated with you for springing this on her so suddenly, but it can't be helped considering the time-sensitive nature of this issue. It's probably a safe bet that she would've been far more irritated if you hadn't gotten her help, in the end.
You-
"And don't you dare just say 'it's magic' like that explains things!"
-don't sigh at the missed opportunity as you begin to offer a more complete explanation.
You've been trying to pay better attention to the extended senses you picked up, and you noticed that Iori-san had a different feel about him. Admittedly, your sense for this is kind of coarse and vague, but it had been helped along by Iori-san getting halfway through confiding in you regarding a nightmare he was having before thinking better of it and changing his mind.
That was enough for you to decide to follow up on it when the feeling of difference got even more pronounced the next day, and sure enough, with a little coaxing Iori-san described the Dark Hour in great detail. From there it was just a matter of breaking the bad news to him. After that... well, bluntly, you weren't really sure what you were going to do after that. You're open to her suggestions.
Yukari-san stares up at the clouds, quiet contemplation written on her face.
"We're kind of supposed to be keeping all of this secret. But... yeah, no. Not even Junpei deserves to go through something like this alone. What if you were wrong, though?"
You shrug at that. You weren't wrong, so it isn't important.
"I guess." She's not entirely convinced, but willing to move on from this line of thinking. Just in time, too, as Iori-san chooses that moment to appear on the rooftop.
"Heeey, Yuka-tan! Kazuya! Good to see ya!"
Same to you, Iori-san. Glad to see you're looking better today.
He looks hesitantly at Yukari-san for a moment before sighing. "Yeah... I stayed up to see it start. Guess it was easier since I knew it was coming, but... man. That's seriously going to happen every night?"
"Unfortunately." Yukari-san confirms. She's still looking up into the clouds.
"Damn." A mirthless chuckle from Iori-san. "So, what now, then?"
You're not really sure what happens next.
Yukari-san, on the other hand, turns to look straight at Iori-san for the first time. "Mitsuru-sempai will probably call you into a meeting at some point and have you moved into our dorm. For your protection. And then she'll ask you if you want to help her - help us out. And knowing you, you'll jump at the chance. But... in exchange for power, you can't turn your eyes away from the truth anymore."
"Whoa. Do I detect some concern, there, Yuka-tan?" Iori-san teases her. You figure he's probably trying to lighten the mood, but his heart's not really in it.
"Ugh! Way to ruin the moment!"
There's a moment of awkward silence before Iori-san speaks again. "But it's not really much of a choice, you know. As long as I have to live through it either way, I might as well do something with that time. Damn right I'll jump at the chance. I don't want to be the type of guy who sits around and does nothing when he could've made a difference."
You're fine with that. As long as Iori-san knows exactly what he's getting into... it's not going to be a fun ride. Probably not going to be that short of a ride either.
Iori-san lets out another mirthless chuckle in response to that. "We'll see about that. If nothing else, I sure can't complain about the company."
Almost in spite of herself, Yukari-san cracks a smile. "Yeah. I'm sure there are worse people than Junpei who could've ended up on the team. Probably."
"Right- Hey!"
You smile slightly at your two classmates as they trade barbs with each other. The back and forth is entertaining.
And then it is over as Iori-san turns to look at you. "But man... I gotta say... all of this puts those rumors about the school being haunted into a new light."
That stops both you and Yukari-san short.
"What?! What rumors?"
You would also very much like to hear about these rumors. Iori-san seems surprised at this.
"You mean neither of you have heard? There's this rumor going around that all the stress of school life at Gekkoukan is attracting evil spirits and that they're to blame for... well, pretty much everything that goes wrong, depending on who you ask. I wrote it off as a bunch of the new first-years having overactive imaginations, but..."
Considering where Tartarus appears every night, that kind of rumor hits surprisingly close to the truth.
...You wonder if Kirijo-sempai knows what rumors are circulating in the halls of her school. Or if she even cares. Quite possibly, she doesn't care, rumors are by definition terrible sources of information. And yet...
You ask Iori-san to keep paying attention to the rumors. He's in the best position to stay in that loop.
Now it is Yukari-san's turn to look surprised. She looks like she's about to protest, but stops herself. And after a moment, she agrees with you.
"Yeah. I think it's probably a good idea. I hate rumors, but if the school has rumors like that..."
Iori-san nods. "You can count on me!"
Friday, April 17
Afternoon
The rest of the school day passes fairly uneventfully. You're almost surprised that Iori-san isn't summoned to the Student Council room or something similar at the last bell. He instead pauses at your desk long enough to thank you again for giving him the heads up about 'stuff.'
"Even if I still kind of wish I was just going crazy instead... hah."
Iori-san departs for points unknown after that. You, on the other hand, take a moment to think.
While you're pretty sure you don't look it, you still feel fairly exhausted. A lot of that has to do with the way you spent through most of your magic reserves much faster than you expected to in Tartarus. But if you're being honest with yourself, then 'walking around' doesn't really count as an exercise strategy and you could stand to be taking better care of your body. Sanada-sempai had some good points. He's also likely the best resource you have right now on figuring out how to handle yourself inside of Tartarus better, and he did offer to help...
And, between your two sempai, he's easily the more reliable one.
There aren't any good reasons you can think of not to ask him for that help that he offered. Having decided on this, you set off to locate Sanada-sempai. He's not in his classroom, but one of his classmates helpfully points you in the direction of the Boxing Club, where Sanada-sempai serves as Team Captain.
You, of course, are not so desperate as to interrupt an athletics club meeting, nor are you going to just hang around the one room you now know Sanada-sempai to be in lest you find yourself recruited.
Athletics clubs are officially open to incoming students as of this coming Monday. Strictly speaking, you don't have to join one. But there's no reason not to use this time to take stock of what clubs will actually be available to you.
There are a lot of clubs that are about to be available to you. As is only befitting a prestigious school on the level of Gekkoukan, if there are national competitions for it, you can find a team for it. And with the pride of the school at stake, there's no doubt that the level of intensity brought to the competitive teams is quite high.
...so you immediately discard roughly two thirds of the potential clubs out of hand. You have no real interest in taking the Gekkoukan Tigers to the National High School Baseball Championship, nor do you have any big dreams of bringing home the gold for the Track or Kendo Teams. Having done that, you're left largely with the more obscure and less prestigious sports, as well as with the groups that are perhaps charitably stretching the definition of an athletics club.
Sanada-sempai's club meeting lets out just as you're beginning to compile the list of clubs you could see yourself joining in your mind.
"Thinking of joining up?" He asks you.
Actually, you came here to get his advice.
Sanada-sempai smiles at you. "Yeah, I get it. Alright. Walk with me?"
You agree and allow Sanada-sempai to take the lead as the two of you begin walking towards the station.
"Physical strength is everything. Your powers won't be any good to you if you get exhausted easily... so you need to make sure that you can keep your body going, before anything else."
Sanada-sempai lectures you on the way back to the dorm.
"I'm going to take a guess here. You're frustrated because of how tired you're feeling, right? Part of that was unavoidable. You haven't had many opportunities to get acclimated the way that everyone else has. Don't worry, you'll adapt, and it'll get easier. Beyond that... well, like I said, the most important thing is to build up your own endurance."
He takes an appraising look at you as you admit that it's been a while since you've done anything endurance based.
"Let me warn you, if we start training together, I'm not going to go easy on you. Still want my help?"
...Yes.
The confirmation earns you an approving smile. "Good answer! Of course, we can't get started today. If you don't rest, you're only going to cause yourself more problems. So, you should get to bed early tonight. When you're fully recovered, then we can get started properly."
Surprisingly open-ended of him, but you suspect that once you 'get started properly,' training with Sanada-sempai isn't going to just be something that happens whenever you want. That's fine by you, though.
The rest of the journey back to the dorm passes in companionable silence.
Friday, April 17
Evening
Heading to bed early tonight is a good idea. That doesn't mean you can't finish the day on a strong note.
You decide you'll make up for not being able to make breakfast this morning by making dinner instead. As far as hobbies go, you could do worse. Cooking is a relaxing and productive way for you to spend time.
As you work on putting dinner together, you notice that somebody other than you has done a grocery run and left a note behind for you.
'Please advise if anything else is needed.'
The note is unsigned, but... you're fairly confident its author is Kirijo-sempai. Something indirect like this would be a very 'corporate heiress' way of providing a contribution to your efforts to make dorm cooking a regular occurrence.
Not that you'll complain about not having to make any grocery shopping trips.
Your cooking ends up drawing in the rest of your dormmates and you all enjoy a team dinner together. Not much is said, but not much needs to be.
Saturday, April 18
Morning
Going to bed relatively early yesterday was the right call. You feel much better today.
As Gekkoukan holds a half day of classes on Saturdays, today will mark the end of your first full and uninterrupted week of classes. A lot has happened, and surely there is a lot more that will happen in the coming days...
But for now, you can simply focus on making it through the last couple of classes and then utilizing your weekend time to the fullest.
As it is the weekend, you will have an extended amount of time to spend on activities. This vote will cover both Saturday and Sunday.
[] Spend a longer amount of time on fewer activities. (Choose four.)
[] Spend less time on more activities. (Choose seven.)
[] Spend time on building and maintaining relationships with somebody.
- [] With Yukari-san.
- [] With Sanada-sempai.
- [] With Iori-san.
[] Head to the parkour gym and start working on your body. You feel physically up to it and the worst that could happen is you embarrass yourself.
[] Figure out an actual physical training plan with Sanada-sempai and commit to it.
[] Arrange another expedition into Tartarus now that you've recovered from the last run. The only way you'll get better is through practice, right?
- [] Saturday night.
- [] Sunday night.
[] Something else...? (Write-in.)
Well I'm still not entirely happy with this update but sitting here staring disapprovingly at it isn't going to make it any better SO!
You can pick multiple suboptions under something and they'll count as separate. (You can choose to go to Tartarus on both nights but that's probably not the best use of your time.)
EDIT: To provide additional context; the option to spend less time on more things is largely there as a concession to "hey wait a minute if we're spending eight hours in school on a weekday and still getting two after school activities why do we only get two activities on a day where school takes four hours or isn't in session at all" - if it's a landslide towards wanting to spend more time on less things I won't offer that choice again but I figured I'd throw it in. You can assume that spending more time on less things means bigger returns on investment.)

Excuse me if I'm wrong about my terms here, but I was wondering if there was some kind of bojutsu club to join. You know, since we use a staff. I know it's probably not gonna be a thing, but I just like the idea.

I want to double down on training for this weekend and work on some of our kinks regarding combat. Puts pressure off of us without having to worry about some 'essential' pick options that could potentially come in future days that bite into our very limited amount of picks, preventing us from dealing with them.
EDIT: Oh, yeah, and I was wondering if Yukari and Iori should have some kind of bond already, which they seemingly don't right now. I don't know, I was under the impression that by the time the MC meets them, they're already at least somewhat friendly with each other, if very sassy. I don't remember P3 too in-detail

Alas, there is no such club. If you manage to get four other students and a professor on board you could start your own. Otherwise, Akihiko's got connections and will figure out how to get you proper weapons training as part of the overall fitness plan so don't worry about finding a source of weapons training.
The clubs that Kazuya would be interested in joining are all casual self-improvement type fitness clubs (I had Yoga Club and Hiking Club in my head but that might change) rather than anything particularly rigorous - although if people really want to unlock the "it was a sports anime the entire time" B-side for this quest, I was planning on including Baseball as a club that the thread can vote to join where if it wins, Kazuya will end up on the baseball team in spite of his own desires to not be there. (I haven't worked out what that plot actually looks like but, you know, details...)

I'm just imagining Kazuya deciding to go along with whatever crazy idea Junpei's got now. Next thing you know, he's on the team and everything is on fire. And, even worse, he has to explain why and how it happened to Mitsuru. Likely ending with Junpei thrown under the bus.
"High heat was a FIGURE OF SPEECH!" The bus is also on fire
I've got some things to take care of, so I'm not going to formally close the vote until I can start working on an update (although in practice going forward it'll largely be a 'well nobody has voted in a day or so therefore it's closed' deal). I'll try to get it out faster than "three days from now" and will let you all know when I get started on the next update.
EDIT: The work proceeds and the vote is now closed. Update to follow. As the decision to spend more time on less things was unanimous we won't be getting that choice on any future weekends.
EDIT 2: OR I could just start playing Warframe again instead of doing the thing I said I was going to do. WHOOPS
