I would rather focus on social issues than can vastly improve peoples lives and well being, and this is it. It will also lead into other social issues such as women and LGBT rights. Pushing for a "Space Race", as shown in our TL is a bad idea. You get both superpowers throwing more and more money at it, bringing forward deadlines increase risks, and at the end there is a lot of fatigue and spending that could have been better used elsewhere. You get caught up in the prestige of being first, instead of utilizing a more qualitative and efficient approach. We also shouldn't want to accelerate the Cold War, nor push it into space.

You guys are vastly underestimating the amount of money that we have, and the amount we need. On the first point, the majority investment decision currently is based of Van Ropen's quote of our money being $13 million, but that was before we finished the movie and got another $9 million. As it stands, you wish to invest at 4.5 mill, 4 mill, and leaving $14 million in the bank. It isn't a good idea, not least of which we haven't even had a decision to purchase anything yet, much less purchase it immediately and it costing several million. You are planning for contingencies, that as of now, we have been given no clue are even needed. Money sitting in a bank is just inflating away, invest it instead and gain both more capital and influence.

I completely disagree on this. I don't think space travel would have happened at all without the space race. We might eventually have seen satellites for the commercial benefits they confer, maybe, but I don't think anything further would have happened. No one would have gone to the moon and we wouldn't have sent probes to other planets. Also for that matter every dollar or ruble spent on the space race wasn't spent on building a bomb, and it provided a non-violent stress release valve for the Cold War.
We have $14 million. We got $9 million from the movie and only had about $4.5 million before the movie. Go look at the front page for our finances. You've made a serious error in calculation here. Possibly because of a misunderstanding between money and net worth. The QM was previously posting Net Worth and Money as separate indicators and our net worth was a fair bit higher than money, he has dropped the net worth statistic and just has money. Presumably a significant portion of our net worth was in record contracts or something that we lost from lack of use.
Incidentally I'm surprised that no one seems interested in maintaining our fame.
