1. you are confusing points. Repeatable addresses your idea that we have to prepare for as much as possible so we can "do it as well as possible". it implies we can only do it once. Since we can still get the "best result" at a later repeat the only question is "does doing an instance of it now provide better results per action than whatever else we want to do"

2. we got sunny AND a dog AND the lone wanderer all with us. There is no way we won't find any geckos. As for running out of ammo, your plan is to literally train marksmanship by shooting at a practice target, which uses up bullets and gives inferior results to training marksmanship by shooting at an enemy! Also, we are going hunting with the person who sells us ammo, so if we run out of ammo we just buy more from on her on the spot. and since hunting gives us income via selling the meat then it pays for itself, unlike training by shooting at empty bottles and cans which just costs us

3. you are voting to train marksmanship which is a bullet sink which consumes bullets to maybe levelup shooting skill. actual hunting consumes bullets to have a better chance of leveling up shooting than shooting at a practice target, and a 100% chance of leveling up skinning and a 100% chance of leveling up gecko shapeshifting and a loot roll and possibly other rolls too. So there is a 100% chance of giving a greater reward than your idea of just shooting at a stationary target and on top of that there are multiple rolls for additional rewards

Right, so yes we want to hunt as much as possible because it'll bring in cash and give skill boosts. We also want to do the special events we've unlocked. Aside from that, one shot at the ranch solely for the Caps right now to definitely afford ammo, which will be depleted on Hunts. Afterwards, there are a lot of skills we need/want to level that still have either good success rates and are useful or are so core that even with mediocre/bad success rates we still need to do them anyway for now. I don't think doubling up on the ranch is worth the time--we need a one time infusion of caps to definitely afford ammo but aside from that it's very costly action wise for improving only one skill and in the grand scheme of things a few more caps now is a pittance compared to skill gains on two different skills.
