Good news, knocking worked. Now, would somebody like to roll me three d100s to determine the seer's temperament towards your group? Each dice is for a different member of your group.
It turns out that the seer's grandson was one of Brunhildr's suitors and he got killed by Bjorn, Astrid's father, after he was too pushy and refused take no for an answer.

[X] Use seidr to 'knock' on the ward, politely requesting entry as we seek the seer's wisdom.
-[X] If that doesn't work, press on, risking the effects of the ward and hoping you find shelter before nightfall.
"We should try knocking," you suggest, "It doesn't hurt to try being polite."
"And if it doesn't work?" inquires Astrid.
"Then we push on anyway," you reply with a shrug, "It is either that or turn back and I don't know about you, I don't feel like giving up when we are so close."
"I suppose there isn't much to life without a little," says Astrid consideringly, "You don't earn any Prestige if you are unwilling to face peril in your path.
"That's right," you agree, "We knock for politeness sake and if nothing happens, we go on past the ward. If we get a response, we'll deal with it based on what it is. Unless either of you have any objections?"
You say that last sentence with a look at your little sister. Astrid is onboard, but Sigrid might surprise you.
"I didn't come all this way just to head home at the first sign of trouble," says Sigrid firmly, "Let's do this."
"Alright, who does the knocking?" you ask, looking between the two girls.
"I'll do it," answers Sigrid without a moment's hesitation, "I'm better than both of you at Seidr. With a ward of this strength…"
"Sigrid has a point," admits Astrid, "I would have no problem giving it a shot, but while my spells are stronger, I freely acknowledge that your sister has devoted more time to studying magical knowledge."
"Then Sigrid will be responsible for knocking," you declare.
It takes a few minutes for Sigrid to come up with a method of knocking that she is comfortable with. Half of that time is spent studying the ward so she can get an idea of how it works and how she can interact with it without setting it off. The rest of the time is her attempting to put together a suitable spell that Sigrid is comfortable using to knock on the ward.
You would like to help, but your education in the art of the seidr is lesser than what the girls receive. It is one thing to use seidr in combat, but learning theory and a generalised of seidr? That is for women not men. Your father might be open minded enough to treat seidr as just another tool in his armoury, but many Norsemen out there consider it unmanly and something only for women to use.
Most of them will make exceptions for seidr from Bloodlines or Kennings, especially if one of the Gods got involved. Not many out there will denounce you for using lightning seidr when your ability to do so comes from sharing blood with Thor after all. But most isn't all and a good number of Norse warriors are strict enough that they consider any seidr unbecoming of a real man.
"I'm ready," says Sigrid after what feels like an eternity to you even if the sun has only shifted a little in the sky, "And here I go."
Your ability to sense seidr is limited, but your sister's action is impossible to miss when it is happening right in front of you and you know what to look for. Her magical presence gives a slight tap to the ward, not enough to trigger any defensive measures, but enough to sense a ripple across the ward. Hopefully that will get the attention of whoever made the ward.
The three of you wait for a moment then another before it stretches out into a prolonged period of waiting for a response.
"Nobody is watching us from within the ward," says Sigrid once your sister has apparently got fed up with waiting, "Either they didn't notice or they did, but just don't care."
"So shall we press on?" asks Astrid.
"We might make it back before sunset if we leave now and hurry back, but no, let's press on," you say, "We're Norse. Shying away from danger isn't what we do."
And with that, the three of you push on. Astrid volunteers to go first as her Dragon Aspect trait gains her some degree of resistance against seidr. Once she passes through unharmed, you and Sigrid quickly join her. Your party makes haste, hopeful that you will find the suspected seer before it gets too dark.
In the end, you find a campfire with a figure sitting around it. As you get closer, you can tell that this figure is clearly a man of great age and power. His face is all wrinkly while his hair is both thin and white. His tunic and trousers are simple in design except even at this distance, you can feel the power of the enchantments weave into them and you can make out a handful of magical runes on them.
"Greetings, noble children of the honoured Princess-Taker and daughter of the man who killed my grandson," says the seer with respect to you and Sigrid while barely concealed disgust is directed at Astrid, "I shall grant you the hospitality at my campfire for the night and following morning. As much as I may wish to deny it to one of you, I shall not spit in the face of the Gods by denying you food, warmth and protection at night."
"On the behalf of my companions and I, I thank you for your generosity," you reply as you and Astrid exchange a troubled look, "May I ask if you are the seer rumoured to be passing through?"
"Indeed, I am, Torvald Sigurdrsson," confirms the old man as he gives you a grin, "I am Ketil Lastingchange. I have lived for over seventy winters and over my life, I have learnt mastery of the seidr arts and have shown my faith before the Gods. I have come with my granddaughter to seek either weregild or revenge for the death of my grandson and her brother. What brings you here?"
"I have some seeking wisdom from a seer," you answer, "Sigrid came in search of knowledge while Astrid desires greater strength."
"Hmm," says the powerful seer thoughtfully as he looks between you and your sister, "The daughter of the Knightslayer shall have nothing from me, but I am willing to share wisdom with you, Torvald, and knowledge with you, Sigrid. My granddaughter, Ingrid Womanmaker, will be returning shortly from her hunt with fresh food for us to cook and eat. Her Kenning comes from a curse that her mother placed upon her and while it will affect you, it is harmless and shall not break hospitality."
"What is this curse?" you inquire, not liking the sound of it at all.
"Ingrid angered her mother, my daughter, by seducing and sleeping with a passing warrior," explains Ketil, "Her mother didn't approve of her unbecoming attitude to risking pregnancy so she cursed Ingrid to ensure that she wouldn't carry the children of a man who wasn't her husband. While in her presence, any man who isn't her family will become a woman. Sigrid, I can show you how to craft a ward that will protect Torvald from the effects of my grandaughter's curse."
"No way," protests your little sister, earning a glare from you "I want to see Torvald as a girl."
"In that case, here is a bit of wisdom, Torvald, there is nothing wrong with being a woman," says Ketil, turning his attention from Sigrid to you, "Society might judge you for it, calling you unmanly, but nobody will find out so it is harmless. Neither my granddaughter nor I will tell anyone about it, Sigrid will keep her tongue quiet as the price of me allowing it to happen and if the daughter of the Knightslayer runs her mouth, I shall turn her into a cow and sell her on the market."
At that, Astrid winces and you shoot her a look of sympathy. Ketil clearly cares about her, but it certainly isn't a good way and only hospitality is keeping this powerful seer from acting upon his feelings.
"Sigrid, you will stay awake with me tonight and I shall teach you seidr while the others sleep," says Ketil after a moment, "Torvald, I grant you leave to ask questions of me when we are not preparing dinner or eating it until the time for you to sleep comes. Choose them wisely."
"Thank you, honourable seer," you and Sigrid both thank him while Astrid remains silent.
You feel a pang of pity for her because for Astrid, this trip is wasted at best and perilous at worst, but you cannot pass up this opportunity. This is a chance for you to grow stronger and while it is unfortunate that she cannot join you in that, neither of you benefits from you rejecting what wisdom Ketil Lastingchange has to share.
What questions will you ask of Ketil Lastingchange in search of wisdom? You may choose as many as you want, but you may not have time to ask them all. All questions with half of the votes or more will be chosen.

Alright, you have met Ketil Lastingchange and Ingrid Womanmaker. They are a pair of semi-fleshed out characters that have enough details to be used in a pinch as needed, but still undefined enough to be adapted to the circumstances at hand. In this case, they are seeking retribution for the death of their grandson/brother and depending on how this arc plays out, they may appear again in the future.
Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to.
Actually, looking at the math, the bonus for Presence should be +0.8 (0.6 from Hugr 3 & 0.2 from Presence 1) so it looks like Deception is correct while the other Presence-based skills are wrong.

In that case literally all the skills are wrong. Literally all of them (except Deception) seem to be using (Stat+Stat+1) x .2 before adding Skill rather than (Stat+Stat) x .2 alone (ie: Swordsmanship is +5.2, 3.2 for the skill of 32 and +2 from Str+Hamr 9, not +1.8).

[X] Admit that you don't know what questions to ask.
I don't have any good questions, so I'll vote for this for now. Will try to come up with some questions, and will probably vote for any questions anyone else can think of.
Hey I don't want to be that guy but don't you think it is kind of useless to search for Wisdom when it comes through passage of time.
In a way say when he says for what Sigrid says about it.
Which I disagree Wisdom is acknowledging the fact anything can happen in this perilous world so one must be prepared for the worse when Sigrid can reveal it when things detoriate between him and her or the Seer is lying for his sinister schemes and the curse is permanent.
[X] "I would like to know how to convince people to do what I desire"
Eh...people who are bad at things can give you bad advice about that thing pretty easily.
I'm also pretty sure admitting we don't know does, in fact, result in us getting something, and likely something more within his area than social stuff.

The vote is now closed. Sorry about how long it took. I meant to do it at the weekend, but I recently got Rogue Trader and spent far more time playing it than I originally planned.

You pause at that, the response of the seer catching you off-guard. When you sought wisdom, you had hoped the seer would have something to share with you, some sage words that could guide you in the future. For it to be left up to you to choose what wisdom to seek never crossed your mind and now that it is up to you, you can't think of anything. No profound puzzles to solve, no meaningful questions that require seeking out a seer to answer.
"I don't know," you admit after a few moments of fruitless thinking, "I came seeking wisdom, but I don't know what specific wisdom there is to seek."
"Well, you're a sharper lad than most your age," replies Ketil with an amused snort, "Few realise how little they know and even fewer are willing to admit that."
"Thank you," you reply, "Is that your wisdom?"
"Hah!" exclaims Ketil as the old man slaps his leg, "Nay, boy, it is just the start of it. Let's start with knowledge. Knowledge is often overlooked for its benefits are indirect, instead favouring the easier and more obvious route of physical strength. They either forget or don't even learn in the first place that knowledge is also power and not for the faint-hearted. Strength of mind and soul is needed to claim greater education and the greatest of knowledge is reserved only for those beyond mere mortals."
You can see Astrid wanting to ask something, but your best friend stays her tongue rather than risk offending this powerful user of seidr.
"I kinda already knew that?" you say hesitantly, "It's sort of why I came out here in search of wisdom."
"Hmm, I suppose you do, but a reminder never hurt anyone," says Ketil, "I would give you another bit of wisdom, but it looks like my granddaughter is coming back."
The three of you follow his gaze to where a young woman is approaching. With brown hair and eyes, she looks oddly like Ketil and has a pair of rabbits and a bird slung over her shoulder. She hesitates for a moment as she spots just how many of you are sitting around the game before continuing onwards.
For a moment, you think nothing of it. Then as Ingrid Womanmaker approaches, she looks over the three of you and you can tell the exact moment she recognises Astrid as the woman's eyes widen in surprise for a moment. Then that shock swiftly turns to anger and your hand goes to your blade as you feel Ingrid calling upon her seidr. Astrid goes for her own weapon while your sister begins to call upon her own seidr.
"Ingrid, they are guests under our hospitality!" roars Ketil, startling all of you into pausing, "Do not shame yourself before the Gods."
"Grandfather, that is the daughter of the man who killed Havardr," hisses Ingrid as she points an accusing finger at Astrid.
"Yes, I'm not happy about it either, but she is one of our guests tonight and shall be treated as such," says Ketil sternly, "And we are here for wergild. Fighting a feud can wait until there is one, Ingrid."
"Yes, grandfather," replies the young woman with a glare at Astrid, who matches it with one of her own.
"I'll happily give you a friendly duel," says Astrid, her hand still on the handle of her axe.
"And I would be happy to accept it."
"Save it until after dinner, girls," orders Ketil, "And sort out the stakes before the fighting begins."
"Yes, grandfather," says Ingrid, giving her kinsman a look before turning back to Astrid, "When I win, I shall use my seidr to curse you and you shall accept it without resisting.
"That curse can last no longer than a week," counters Astrid.
"A month," argues Ingrid.
"Only if I win, you make me an enchanted item of my choosing to the best of your ability," says Astrid.
"Acceptable," agrees Ingrid.
"With that settled, I'll give you another couple bits of wisdom before we get to cooking dinner, Torvald," says Ketil as Ingrid takes a seat on the opposite side of the fire and you can feel the edge of her curse pushing up against you, "Since we're on the subject, hospitality is an important thing, lad. Hospitality is important to civilisation, allowing people such as traders to travel beyond their homes and yet it is a tricky thing.
"Those receiving guests should make sure that they are generous with what they offer and less they find themselves on the receiving end when they are a guest. Likewise, a guest should be careful not to be greedy, never taking too much or staying too long lest they find the kindness of their hosts turning into loathing. Just because kindness is being offered, it doesn't mean you should take it. A good norseman knows when it is proper to turn down hospitality."
"We already know that," says Sigrid, speaking the thoughts in your head out loud, "Father made sure to teach us all that."
"As expected of a man of his legend," says Ketil, "My last bit of wisdom for the night is another tale of moderation, this time in risk-taking. I'm sure that Sigurdr Princess-Taker has also taught this to all of his children, but there is a fine line between bravery and stupidity and also between caution and cowardice. A line that isn't universally agreed upon either. One man's caution can be another man's cowardice and one man's arrogance may be another man's courage.
"Don't be afraid to take risks, but don't be reckless either. The Gods won't smile upon someone who shies away in a fight, but there is no glory in getting yourself killed due you didn't think things through."
"And how does the upcoming duel fit into that?" you ask carefully
"An unnecessary fight, but one that shouldn't pose an unacceptable risk to either of them," says Ketil with a glance at both girls, "None of them will take things too far unless they wish to feel my disapproval."
"I know how to keep things friendly, grandfather," retorts Ingrid while Astrid remains silent.
***
Once dinner is cooked and eaten, Astrid and Ingrid get down to the duel that both girls have been eagerly waiting for. Astrid with her axe and shield while Ingrid holds a bow in her hands.
For a moment, there is silence with neither girl saying a thing before Astrid rushes forward. Ingrid reacts within moments. A spell ripples across Astrid and while you see it take hold on her, you don't get to see what it does before Astrid throws it off with a usage of her Rewind spell.
And that sets the tone for the rest of the fight. Ingrid is clearly skilled at keeping out of melee range of her opponent and finds little difficulty in landing spells on Astrid, but Astrid has a degree of magic resistance from her Dragon Aspect trait that makes it hard for Ingrid to make her magic stick. And when she does successfully land a spell on Astrid, your best friend just ignores it thanks to using her Time Seidr.
It quickly becomes apparent that it will be a matter that the duel won't be a quick affair. Despite Ingrid having a few years of experience and growth as an advantage, both her and Astrid are equally matched in different ways. And both are without a doubt stronger than you.
How is Astrid so much better than you? You're the same age as her yet she is beyond you and in the same league as someone with few years on her? What makes her special?
In the end, Ketil steps in to call the fight a draw as neither girl gets the upper hand, something neither Astrid or Ingrid are happy about. Both look at each other with a promise that they will clash again and hostility that indicates that the next duel is unlikely to be as friendly as this one.

The morning sees the three of you wake up shortly before sunrise and with silent agreement, your group begins your journey home before your hospitality for the night can expire with the rise of the sun. Normally, the hospitality would extend to when you choose leave rather than just sunrise, but given the hostility that Ketil and his granddaughter hold towards Astrid, none of you are willing to test the extent of their hospitality.
Hopefully, you'll reach Torstenby first and be able to warn Father of what is coming on this day. What will be Torvald's adult goal?

Okay, this quest isn't dead, but I lack the enthusiasm for a mechanically-complex quest. In hindsight, it was a mistake for me to make the system so maths heavy. I'm also not enthusiastic about turning this into an open-ended quest either hence the current vote. You'll be voting for a goal that Torvald will work towards upon adulthood. We'll have a few or several updates of him working towards that goal, which will then see the quest end with Torvald having succeeded or having failed.
One more update for this arc, four or five updates for the final childhood adventure and then roughly ten updates to wrap up the quest with Torvald's adult goal. Maybe one or two updates to serve as an epilogue to tie up any loose ends. Mainly so I can move on from this quest without having yet another unfinished quest in my history.
Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to.
I kind of want him to focus on self improvement by doing so the rest will follow.
After though it may sound vague it would make him keep pushing himself so he will not be found lacking and it is an immediate goal he can focus upon instead of fantasising about killing someone or thinking about being Great leader.

I'm going to veto that as too open-ended. This vote is for a clear objective to work towards as an end goal of the quest and Torvald attempting to become his best is too vague for that to work.
