gonna make me up the fleet sheet

starts chanting fleet sheet! fleet sheet! fleet sheet!

Going to say, 14 points spent on single Carrier doesn't look right. Did we remember the 3 points provided for free for wings and escorts for Carriers?

Also, when I was talking about the Frigate- I thought it was a different hull. That it was a Superior Class didn't click to me because the phrase "Pocket Carrier" is the trait name of the Bakunawa Class, so I was thinking it was that.

Superior isn't a bad choice for a Battleship group I would think.

Edit: Yeah, the Masauwu costs 6 points base and can only fit Escorts and Wings. So to cost 14 points total, it would have to buy 11 points worth of Escorts and Wings.

You can fill up a Masauwu with 11 points of escorts and wings easy. A Tortuga wing(3), Balor wing(3), Cruiser escort(3), and Gourd limpets(2), just for example.

Though it isn't quite the bomber/fighter platform as described.

Also....can I suggest, instead of outfitting ships from different battlegroups each round. It might be better to outfit each separate battlegroup in the round of voting.

0.4: Shadow Trials
The man who sometimes caught himself thinking that he was Admiral Bryce Garrison did not like the Metropolitian city that he had been sent to. He didn't like the fat, happy people who streamed past his windows in endless funnels. Cut one, and their blood would bleed silver with medichines and life extension therapy, not red. Cut one off from the Metropolian support structure they all ignored and they would wither and die. No extranet, no NHP oversight, no rapid action medical teams, no easy blinkgate travel.

They weren't humans, not really.

"It's funny," the man who was forcing himself to not think of of himself as Admiral Bryce Garrison said, his voice bouncing off the glass. "Are they less a man than me? Or am I still their shadow?"

The door to his chamber opened with a faint hiss.

"Admiral?"

The man who was not Admiral Garrison turned to face the slender androgen that had been assigned him by the studiously, meticulously ethical Department of Justice and Human Rights. He gave them the thinnest smile.

"Please, I haven't earned the name," the man said, quietly. "I'm here for the formality of the issue, and I will return whence I came once we've wrapped this all up."

Admiral Garrison's lawyer scowled at him. Their name was Zivian and they were like most pups from the DOJ/HR: Young, idealistic, and blind.

"Again," they said. "If you want emancipation-"

"I don't," the man said, shaking his head. "You still don't understand, Ziv. I was sent here by Admiral Garrison to deal with this..." He chuckled. "This...this farce. This dog and pony show. This waste of the galaxy's most precious resource." He gestured to the window. "It takes five years of Cradle-objective travel to move from the Periphery to a Blinkgate of sufficient bandwidth to allow for translation into the Metropolian space. Five years that Admiral Garrison is spending doing his goddamn job."

Ziv frowned. "Your progenitor doesn't deserve this loyalty," they said, firmly.

"On the contrary," the man said. "They deserve far more than I can give." He stood taller, his civilian suit looking well creased and painfully out of date. "Now. I take it that they're ready for the trial?"

Ziv shook their head. "If you are once more refusing emancipation protocols..." they said. At his nod, they continued. "Then, yes. The Harrison Armoy representatives are here. The trial can start."

The man inclined his head.

The trial was being held with all appropriate solemnity in one of the many, many, many manifold legal chambers within the New Division's multiplexes - which themselves were threaded together across half a dozen worlds by an intricate linkage of Blinkgates. This allowed the New Division relatively rapid reaction in the area of space they were least needed - but kept them equally as far from the parts of space where they chafed most to go. Blinkgate travel was limited, like so many things, by bandwidth and resources. Within the rich Metropoltian Space that blanketed the regions around Cradle - the regions that no Union citizen would ever deign to call the imperial core - that bandwidth was readily accessed, enough that travel time shrank to barely perceptible, quasi-theoretical chunks of subjectivity.

Once you got outside of the Metropolis, bandwidth shrank and travel times ballooned along frightening curves, creating bottlenecks and slowdowns that left the DOJ/HR's coveted critical action teams burning off years of their lifetime to reach anywhere of note.

That was why the man existed at all.

The gavel came down as the judge presiding, with their NHP assistant nearby, sitting in a cup of golden light like a coiled dragon, spoke: "Admiral Bryce Garrison of Harrison Armory stands accused of multiple violations of the Utopian Pillars and the Articles of War outlined by the Third Committee." The judge paused. "However...as you are a Beta Level Homunculi instantiated in a biological body, you are legally not Admiral Bryce Garrison and, thus, cannot be charged for Bryce Garrison's crimes. To resolve this dispute, we have called Ambassador Langly to the chambers, Ambassador Langly, can you please explain this extraordinary breach in interstellar protocols."

Langly was confident, brash, and metabolically inclined to bloat. HIs cheeks were ruddy red and he wiped at his expansive balding brow, while the silver seam of his cybernetic augmentation gleamed along the rear of his pate - working overtime to keep his brain functioning after a series of strokes he had had when he had hit his second century. "Honorable Judge Koing," he said. "Admiral Garrison here has sent his beta as a sign of respect. His current duties did not permit him to translate across the galaxy - as you well know, travel beyond the edge of the Periphery, in the Diasporan regions of space, is quite a bit slower than it is in the core regions of space."

"One cannot simply ignore a summons by the Union in these matters," the judge said, her voice going flat. Harsh. She removed the spectacles she wore while her NHP lifted his snakeish head. "Let me make sure that I understand what it is you intend, Ambassador...your Admiral stands accused of flagrant violations of the Deimos Accord and of using illegal rampency inducing memetic weaponry on nonhuman persons in his opponents battlefleet. The consequences for this, had they been noted beyond that region of space are impossible to overstate. And in response to this legal demand, he has created a slave and sent the slave to die for him - and here, now, you from Harrison Armory are willing to stake your corponational reputation behind him?"

Her eyes flashed, and she stood.

It was clear, the entirety of Union stretched behind her - the Third Committee and their Utopian pillars, vast and terribly powerful.

"Is that what you intend to do, Ambassador?"

"Yes, well..." Langly smiled, broadly. "He did win the war, though."

Afterwards, when Ziv had discharged the man into Langly's sky-limo, Langly poured himself a fine drink and started to knock it back. The man leaned back into the plush seats. He had never felt something this quite comfortable. "Was that wise?" he asked - causing Langly to choke.

"Goddamn, you even sound like Bryce sometimes," he said, coughing and choking. He shook his head. "Union gets thirty two percent of their military product through the Armory, and we sit on half a dozen blinkspace transmitters - we run a fifth of their goddamn bandwidth." His face was starting to turn red. "They fight us over you, then it'd be a goddamn clusterfuck for those smug ThirdComm dipshits."

The man nodded.

"So, what happens to me now?"

"We see if Union's willing to set the galaxy on fire to get ya," Langly says, grinning. "Well, not you. Bryce." He shrugs. "But they better decide quick."

The man half remembered a name. It tingled on his tongue. "Diamond Shoals," he said, quietly.

"...ech..." Langly said, shaking his head slowly. "This is why I don't like betas. You never quite know what it is they'll get in the copying and transferring." He smirked. "If you wanna live to see reintegration with Admiral Garrison, you'll forget you ever heard of Diamond Shoals for the next few years, okay?"

The man considered all the fleeting self he had - the shadows of Bryce Garrison's mind. The copying process that created homunculi was inexact and inelegant because human minds were inexact and inelegant. But despite that, the core of Garrison remained within him. The man considered that core for a moment more.

Then he smiled.

"Okay," he said.

Langly poured him a drink.

And the two men clinked glasses in the waning sunlight streaming through the windows.

Okay, following the really good advice, we're gonna finish up the build for BG December all at once, then finish up Diamond, then do the other two, all as one group, rather than shotgunning them around!

...I had a reason why I was doing that, but I don't remember...what it was. We'll blame sleep deprivation.

[ ] Write In

[X] Plan: Guns. Lots of Guns.
-[X] Big Gun Creighton, with a single superheavy
-[X] FKS-Calendula class, how many superheavy guns can we stick on this thing?

I think I'd like one of our battlegroups to be a Speartip build but it probably shouldn't be BG December. Same with the Calendula - want to see it, but maybe not in December? BG December should maybe escort-focused mid-range brawler. If we're gonna be equipping Corvettes, makes more sense to put them on a Tongass than a Superior. And Sven will probably appreciate being on a Tongass - a dedicated subline support vessel with streamlined logistics suites - more than a second-rate pocket carrier.

[X] Plan: Lock'n Vette
-[X] GMS Superior Frigate (swap out subline berth + corvettes for a shield or piper drones)
-[X] GMS Caspian Sea Frigate
-[X] GMS Tongass-Class Carrier
-[X] IPS-N Eiland-Class Command Carrier

This doesn't leave a ton of points for extras, so we'll be mostly using lower-cost add-ons (corvettes!), but quantity has a quality all its own.

Well, our Pocket Carrier Frigate is already holding a Missile. So:

[X] Plan "I've got a Payload for you" *wink wink*
-[X] Capsian Sea Class Frigate, Aggressive fire-support with Boarding Payload (Defensive Screening will provide Lockon against enemies, and rerolls when Allied Battlegroups consume Lockon supports this Payload Battlegroup with Lockon, and Supports other battlegroups that actually roll attacks)
-[X] Hesperis Class Battlecruiser, Missile Barf Brick (Makes those Missile Payload weapons move faster, consumes lockon to force rerolls for interdiction against Missile Payloads so they hit more often, A Capital Sized Missiles as a Trait, and an escort. Does more damage the closer it is, and does more damage the faster you go. GAS GAS GAS)

Okay, reasons beyond those noted. I kinda built this around the Superior Frigate we already have since it is loaded with a Payload Weapon, an Escort, and it's trait will provide healing so we will want to be a bit more reckless to make use of it. In short, a Tactic should be used every round on Defensive Screen for either Frigate depending if we need the healing or if the Lockon can be used. Since this supports a GAS GAS GAS theory, a Boarding Payload on the Capsian allows more flexibility and another angle of punishment. I haven't played Battlegroup but I hear Boarding is good, and it was mentioned in a different meme ship so it should work?

This is built from Trashtalk Knowledge since I don't have the books, so the point costs are beyond me but this should fit?

Edit:

I'll make a more basic option too.

[X] Plan Reasonable
-[X] Anti-Fighter Huron class, with close ranged weapons
-[X] GMS Thoreau-Class, built around having as many big huge middle ranged guns as humanly possible

Simply put, this provides a flexible amount of defensive and endurance, combined with a Battleship designed to just never stop shooting. Where the first plan rewards being super aggressive, this one is more about being able to put ourselves in the worst place for the enemy fleets and just using obscene amounts of guns firing every round to force them to deal with it or otherwise exploit slash crush the biggest threat that has to be handled now.

I'm good with either of these. We are likely going to want to have the Big Gun Creighton to be in our 3 Frigate fleet, and the Double Gun Calendula is a bit too fragile to have centerpiece to a Superior. If we are fielding a Calendula then it should be elsewhere.

[X] Plan: Lock'n Vette

corvettes are cool (this is ENTIRELY based on my time playing Homeworld and in no way reflects a decent understanding of this game).

Well, our Pocket Carrier Frigate is already holding a Missile. So:

Yeah, I don't think these go super well together - I really want a Hesperis build, but it's one of those you kind of have to build around, and the Hesperis doesn't pair well with the pocket carrier.

...really the pocket carrier is not amazingly useful for most things, which is why I suggested moving the corvettes to a Tongass and swapping out the subline berth for a shield or something like Brace for Impact.

The build I'm envisioning for Lock'n Vette is something like:

[10] Derecho
(6) IPS-N Eiland-Class Command Carrier
(2) Subaltern Combat Crews
(0) Long-Cycle Primary Lance
(2) Subaltern Combat Crews
(1) Corvette Escort
(1) Corvette Escort
(1) Corvette Escort

[4] Gale
(4) GMS Tongass Class Line Carrier
(0) Messenger Lead Laser
(0) Messenger Lead Laser
(1) Corvette Escort
(2) Destroyer Escort

[3] Bomb Cyclone
(3) GMS Caspian Sea Class Frigate
(0) Primary Single-Stage Torpedoes
(0) Messenger Lead Laser

[3] Hurricane
(3) GMS Superior Class Frigate
(0) Primary Kinetic Batteries
(0) Brace For Impact!

With most of what we're doing being "Screen+Lock On to something, do 4 damage, then either shoot something with one of our guns or use an escort on someone".

I haven't got the battlegroup rules, so I'm mostly here for the story, but I want to chip in and take note of some stuff because of how hilariously terrible this all is.

And in response to this legal demand, he has created a slave and sent the slave to die for him - and here, now, you from Harrison Armory are willing to stake your corponational reputation behind him?"
'Rampancy inducing memetic weaponry on nonhuman persons' means he was damaging the shackles on paracausal entities, which means they go crazy, then gradually maybe stop obeying the laws of physics, and there's some in universe theorization that this teaches every NHP in the universe how to build metavaults faster. Then he illegally cloned himself because he didn't want to show up at the war crimes tribunal, on the grounds he would need to spend a long time not doing the job where he commits war crimes.
"We see if Union's willing to set the galaxy on fire to get ya," Langly says, grinning.
I think the answer might be yes, is what I'm saying.

Admiral Garrison is a dick, is what I'm saying

I point out that Lock'n'vette can't work for DECEMBER, which is established to be one BB and two FF
it might work for DIAMOND, though, because Diamond is two CV, two FF.

[X] Plan Reasonable

Yeah, I love the Hesperis but shoving it in with a pocket carrier is not playing to their strengths. The pocket carrier isn't going to want to go on a Crazy Ivan all-or-nothing close range dive. The Superior is also going to want to screen and help with survivability of the BG.

It will be a little sad to just have the single payload out there due to how it can be interdicted, but it's not terrible as it frees up actions while it's in flight for the other ships in the BG to shoot.

[X] Plan Reasonable

This is well before Harrison II got connected to RA's wifi, right?

Yeah, I don't think these go super well together - I really want a Hesperis build, but it's one of those you kind of have to build around, and the Hesperis doesn't pair well with the pocket carrier.

I am a bit of the same, I thought the Superior was the Bakunawa due to the Pocket Carrier statement, my mind going to the Trait of the same name instead of to the actual Superior Class. Not really a fan of the Superior dropping the system for an Escort. It feels like it is clashing with itself too much as someone that really knows nothing of the game. So I am all for changing it.

However, as mentioned before your plan really isn't 'legal' because the Battlegroup is supposed to be 1BS and 2F. So keeping the Pocket Carrier sort of role on a Frigate then forgetting the Tongass and swapping the Superior for a Bakunawa or Cirsium in your plan would serve well, changing the added unit to match the slot of course.

I am also a fan of dropping the escort entirely and putting in a different system since dropping the system on the Superior doesn't seem (to me) to mix well with it's traits and a system could better synergize with the Battleship of choice?
