Chapter Nineteen (To-Love-Ru)
Chapter Nineteen (To-Love-Ru)

Sainan High looked just like any other school that had the unfortunate consequence of being called Catastrophe and that had been drawn by the deft hand of an illustrator. Unfortunately, be it by design or effective will of some higher power, Yuuki Rito did not immediately appear in my sights. If he had, perhaps I might have solved the problem at its root by dragging him off somewhere his powers wouldn't activate.

I challenged him to slip and fall in the middle of the Sahara desert, for example, or in the heart of a volcano.

As I stepped inside, my presence remained hidden to the senses of the students, and the teachers. It didn't matter their level of technology, or their sixth senses, or how powerful they were. I was in another league entirely, and thus I trudged right past the students going about their daily motions. I rolled my eyes as I watched the perverted principal dash along the corridor while flipping up skirts before leaving my sight. My purpose was to find Rito Yuuki, and have a chat with him.

He was a high school student, and so he was supposed to be somewhere on the upper floors. He should have returned to his everyday life after the accident, especially because as a Planeswalker, it wasn't difficult to return home. It was instinctive and in his case, part of the Psionic commands implanted into his brain once he had been successfully struck. I could feel the lingering scent of my Slivers on him, the pheromones emitted at such a different level that only another Sliver could ever potentially smell them.

It was as I stepped inside his classroom that I saw him trying his hardest to concentrate on the words written on the chalkboard, and failing at that too. It wasn't his fault, and more like Nemesis' own since she was probably whispering lewd things at him. It was in that moment that I realized that the Psionic Slivers hadn't actually reported having hit the girl herself, the Transformation Weapon made of Dark Matter, but if she hadn't left Rito's body...I narrowed my eyes. She knew of the Home-Plane.

Threats to the Hive must be dealt with.

My conscience wasn't lying, but I wasn't going to do anything too drastic. She'd get a bad case of a headache, and I'd rip her out of Rito's body fully restored. That way nobody lost anything, and I could keep on talking to the boy without consequences on another plane. First, however, I had to get rid of professor Tearju. The current homeroom teacher was, after all, known for being a klutz. I'd make her fall gently and require medical assistance. Knowing Rito's luck, he'd be the one picked to bring him to the infirmary. As I quietly slipped towards the back of the classroom unhindered, I glanced at the gathering Dark Matter by Rito's shoulder.

I doubted he had sensed me, he looked too green to even feel my presence-

Unless he somewhat shared his Spark with Nemesis-

Oh shit.

I pounced. There were no other words to describe the pouncing of massive tons of flesh and scales that impacted with resounding vigor against the shield made of Dark Matter that sent Yuuki Rito flying out of the window, shattering it in the process as my battle form took the cue to follow through, my back sprouting three pairs of massive wings to hold my body aloft as sharp talons replaced my arms.

My mass impacted against the school's courtyard as I slithered forth, my sharp, magma-coated talon dripping with caustic mist that impacted straight through the Dark Matter shield, rupturing the midriff of Nemesis, the Transformation Weapon with dark hair and golden eyes that stared at me with a surprised expression. She had thought herself immune to physical attacks, or perhaps she had thought she could handle me in some way and gain time.

She had no idea that I could just as easily enter the shadows as she could, and that to me, her Dark Matter body meant absolutely nothing.

Psionic energies lashed out against her mind as Rito's body remained pinned by a dozen tentacles that had burst out of my midriff, the mist that surrounded us thick and impenetrable by normal means. I could feel at the edge of my senses Mea and Yami's forms rushing to the scene of the chaos, but by then, it would be too late.

I delved into the mind of Nemesis, seeking out only the last few days. As suspected, she had been within Rito while he had traversed the Blind Eternities, and only because of that she had survived the trip. During the attack by my Slivers, she had remained unfazed since they had targeted the neural pathways of the human, and hadn't really known about his uninvited passenger.

Thankfully, Nemesis hadn't made any caches, or alerted anyone of what she had seen. She thought to observe and draw her own conclusions, but the fact remained.

Yuuki Rito had ascended, and his Spark now burned brightly within him.

It also came to no surprise that his soul tasted of rotten tomatoes. He had always liked taking care of plants, and Nemesis inside of him...well, she was as Black as Black could get even if in the body of a cute young girl.

My talons dropped the hold on the unresponsive Nemesis, allowing her form to return within the boy, before quickly wiping out the memory of the last few seconds. I took a deep breath, my powerful lungs gathering air. I unleashed it next, altering my form into something nimbler and faster as I practically flew at the speed of a jet away from the school courtyard and high in the air, even as the fog dissipated to reveal an unconscious Yuuki Rito for Yami and Mea to bring to safety.

I took deep, shaky breaths as I wiped the non-existing sweat off my forehead. None of them had been to Phyrexia. None of them had come into contact with the Eldrazi. They had returned here after the Psionic attack, and knew nothing else. It was good. It was great. It was fine. The Hive-World was safe. The Hive was safe. The Queen was safe.

I landed in an empty side-street, and as my breathing evened out, I stepped outside in my human form, my hands in my jacket.

"I've lived enough for the next thousand of years," I whispered to no one in particular, even as I ordered from the nearby stand half a dozen of Takoyaki and then hastily began to eat them as I moved on to grab some fish pastries of sorts filled with delicious chocolate and cream.

I moved on along the street, stepping into every shop, eating at every food stand, ordering at every take-away and even grabbing one of each at a local equivalent of the Mac Donald franchise.

It was only once I gave the final bite to the last fried chicken bit and sipped on the last sip of coke that I exhaled loudly, letting my throat reverberate the hundreds of tiny sighs that I felt like emitting. I didn't like fighting, but I didn't like losing my Hive more.

"Home visit it is," I murmured, planting my back against the bench, crossing my hands behind my head. "I'll bring a bottle of wine rather than slam my talons inside his chest though."

I chuckled.

He could slip and fall and survive against females, but against males...

...his powers would not work.

what I want to know is why Shade is eating so much. I get that eating for pleasure is a thing that he can do, but going and getting food from every shop along the way, including the McDonald's equivalent? That seems like it would get to the point where eating is a ton of work

He stress eats. When you don't have to worry about weight gain and you're immortal you develop rather interesting habits. This is rather mundane honestly, there's likely planeswalkers that when they become stressed turn into a meteor and crash into a civilized world over the course of a decade.

Yuuki Rito as a Planeswalker..... This has the potential to either end up very amusing or extremely horrifying. Judging by his character in the show, his Mana will be a mixture of Green-White with some accidental Red every time he encounters a female Planeswalker (Hardened!Fuuka perhaps?). Also IIRC, Yuuki Rito is supposed to become the King of the Universe or something like that, due to being 'engaged' to Lala, who's father is the current ruler. I am pretty sure he will refuse Shade's offer of an apprenticeship, considering that in the presence of unlimited power, his first thought was to return home and stay there.

Chapter Twenty (To-Love-Ru)

Yuuki Rito was not expecting the Sliver Inquisition. Then again, nobody expects the Sliver Inquisition. Rito's house from the outside looked even normal, at least as long as someone didn't have a peek at his backyard. There was one such thing as too strange to be called a plant after all, but he didn't seem to bother watering them all the same. I had a bottle of red wine in one hand, and a package filled with sweet treats in my other hand.

I rang the doorbell once, gently.

The one who opened the door was Mikan, Rito's younger sister, and as she looked up at me with a puzzled expression, I smiled in turn. "Good evening," I said with a smile, "Is Rito inside? We have much to discuss."

Mikan furrowed her brows, "I don't know you," she said in the end.

"He fell on my daughter," I answered with a bright smile. "That means he's got to take responsibility, because that's how it works." My smile turned up a notch on the predator scale, and Mikan didn't even need to be mind-whammed to allow me entrance. She simply sighed, the thought that I was lying not even crossing her mind once as she allowed me entrance. She even offered me the guest flaps as she showed me the way into the living room, where Mea was lazily slouching on the couch, a teen magazine open with the strands of her hair as she munched on to some treats while waiting for dinner.

"Who's that?" the Transformation Weapon asked, her long braid twitching slightly.

"A concerned father," I replied with a smile. "I brought treats," I added as I placed the package from the most costly patisserie in the whole town down on the table, placing the bottle of red wine right next to it. "Hopefully we can solve this peacefully." I grinned as I thanked Mikan for offering me a seat at the armchair, where I sat while crossing my legs and planting my elbows on the chair's arms, crossing my fingers together to drop my chin on it.

I needed a fuzzy cat, and then everything would be set for me to welcome mister Yuuki, Rito Yuuki. The shark tank was unnecessary, since I could make do with a Sliver tank. Though I had to warn them not to eat too much of him, or they'd get whatever sickness he had.

I felt Yuuki Rito's presence even before he came into my view, and I was pretty sure the same could be said for him and Nemesis. Yet they appeared all the same from the hallway into the living room, and as my gaze centered on him, it only partially glanced over to where Yami was. After the stun of this afternoon, even though they didn't know what was going on, they had probably decided to spend the rest of the day guarding him.

It didn't matter to me. The only threat could come from Nemesis, because she was the only shrewd enough to fully understand half of the powers of a Planeswalker quickly, and she had been rendered harmless to the Hive by having her memories erased. If push came to shove, I could contain them. It would be an expenditure of resources, but containing a whole Plane wasn't impossible, and it would keep them stuck inside for as long as I lived.

"Yuuki Rito," I said crisply, "Take a seat."

He squirmed as he did that, even though it was pretty clear he was trying his hardest to remember just on whom he had slipped this fine morning, and whether or not it could have anything to do with me. I smiled. "Would you like a pastry?" I gestured at the treats, "They tell me they're the best in the whole town. I thought we could start off with a sweet thing since you thoroughly defiled my daughter with your grubby hands," my smile turned ferocious. "You understand this will not end well for you unless your next words are I will take responsibility, sir."

Rito tensed, swallowing nervously, "I-I don't remember-" I growled at him, "B-but yes!" he bowed his head abruptly, "I'll-I'll take-"

"Wait a moment!" the sharp exclamation came from a pink-haired young girl with a devil-like licorice black tail, who stepped inside with a huff. She was Momo Deviluke, the youngest sister of Lala, an alien capable of communicating with plants and with super strength...which meant that her threat level was somewhere below even Fuuka's White Rabbit's summoning. She basically summoned food, just like her sister Nana. "I've been following Rito all morning, and he hasn't slipped on anyone I don't know the parents of!" she pointed a finger in my direction, "You're just a fraud!"

I smiled and snapped my left finger.

More than a dozen Slivers burst out of my back, slithering their way with unparalleled speed towards their intended targets. Before Momo could summon even a single plant, her cellphone-like device shattered in ashes and cinder, even as chains of light ruptured the ground to block all of Mea and Yami's movements.

I stood up from the armchair slowly, hands in my pockets as I began to walk towards Rito, who had fallen off his seat and was now on the ground, looking up at me with wide eyes.

"I am not here to kill you, Rito," I said gently, "But I will have you take responsibility all the same," I continued with a low growl. "Now let's go talk somewhere else, shall we?"

"Rito, run!" Nemesis' voice came audible enough, "He's-He's stronger than Gid!"

As dark matter formed around Rito's form, pushing him away from my grown talons that struck the floor and broke through it, I sighed and turned to glance at Mikan and at the Slivers surrounding and holding her in place. "Do you really want to run?" I queried as I gestured at the Slivers to push Mikan forward, enabling me to snake a sharp talon dripping with caustic poison around her neck. "Because if so, just tell me," I grinned as more talons emerged from my body. "I'll ensure you'll have nowhere to go back to."

"Nemesis, stop, wait-" Rito said as the dark matter around him retreated back into his body. "If he just wants to talk-"

"He's clearly the one responsible for what happened at school!" Nemesis snapped. "Who knows what he wants?"

"But if he wanted to kill me," Rito said, "He would have done so already, right?" I smiled and nodded at him as I drew nearer still. "Just...let the others go."

"Once we're out of here," I said with a hand over my heart. I took another step, and Momo stepped in front of me, her arms outstretched and her expression determined to stop me.

"I'm not letting you go without me," Momo hissed out. "Whatever you want with Rito, you'll have to bring me along too-" her eyes drooped down as she suddenly fell asleep, falling down to the side as I walked past her sleeping body without missing a beat.

I came to a stop and knelt right by Rito's side, my Slivers gathering back into my back as I dropped Mikan on the ground. I grabbed hold of Rito by the scruff of the neck and smiled as I lifted him up, before dragging him through the Blind Eternities into another plane entirely, one of sand and giant worms.

I challenged him to commit dishonorable acts of slipping and touching women in the middle of the desert of the planet Dune.

I challenged him to do so!

...there are women on Dune, somewhere, on those ships...
he slips on sand and goes flying miles away to land on her...
Shade jumps on and stands on him the entire flight....
hey, free travel...
