I vaguely recall Halla having had a chance to get a small Fervour pool somehow. Would having a legit kenning qualify Aubrey for a small Ordstirr one?

Added a section to the rules summing up Item Quality and how it matters on weapons and armour. The answer, for a Knight, is usually not much, but interacting with quality levels when it comes to rewards here does indicate it can come up as relevant.

He even had a little surprise for her! He had noticed her depression over not being able to secure some of the Shale–and thanks to his own gains from the battle previously, he took a moment to secure two portions! "The trick in this case is to buy in bulk." He explained, offering her the first of them. "Even if I don't have a use for it, I can still offer it to someone else down the line–like I'm doing now. Think about it in the days to come."

The important thing was she didn't have to worry about the Shale!. Even if she was still a ways off from adding it to her Temple anyways.

(Gained Bornholm Shale! Will be slotted when you reach the Fifth Decade, and stored until then)
SHALE SHALE SHALE SHALE SHALE SHALE

Of course we would've bought in bulk if we could afford it. It would've made a very good 3rd Decade present for any of our future Squires. But buying in bulks takes a lot of money, and I'm not about to quote another ABBA song.

[ ] There's an interesting form of wood that just showed up in the middle of the contest. "Stalwart Ironwood". You've taken a look at it and found it should be a highly efficient option to slide into your Temple–but getting a cord of it is going to be pretty pricey on short notice… You can probably live without it though. (3 Wealth, Wood Slot Foundational Material, which gives +2 Athletics Successes for one Slot)

This is a lot better than people give it credit for. While Athleticism might be one of Audrey's neglected skills, it is the one in charge of physical exertions, AKA it is the one that governs all non-combat uses of Grip of Samson. If we want to do things like help common folk on our Fief literally move their homes, we will need to invest more into it, and this is a very good investment indeed.

That being said:

[X] Plan axes and Save for Fief

'Better' is not the same as 'good enough'. I am confident will eventually find better uses for that slot.

Meanwhile, having three Franciscas is enough for almost any situation in which we use them, meaning we won't need to slot in Pulling the Thread as often. This is basically paying 1 Wealth to reduce the Capacity cost of Francisca Toss to one, and that is money very well spent.

[X] Plan axes and Save for Fief

It's good to note that these Francesca are a tier above our current one as well, so not just a quantity upgrade, but a qualitative one too.

Okay, so if we don't want to keep getting shamed by our teacher and now underling, here are the skills we need to level up.

Athleticism 3 (0/8 Zeal) (also the skill Grip procs off, so you shiny magpies should want to boost this anyway ;v) - costs 24 to bring to level 5
Horsemanship 4 (0/16 Zeal) (this one is a bit more iffy thanks to the spurs from Alfie, but I'd imagine people want to clear this up eventually so that we can start improving our Combat skill again without debuffs) - costs 16 to bring to level 5
Administration 3 (0/8 Zeal) (we will be having our fee soon. This is VITAL) - costs 24 to bring to level 5
Diplomacy 4 (0/16 Zeal) - costs 16 to bring to level 5
Scholarship 3 (0/8 Zeal) (this is what we have been told repeatedly by multiple people now to improve in addition to admin) - costs 24 to bring to level 5
Scouting 3 (0/8 Zeal) (this is more covered by Crowley, but if people are worried about not being able to bring Bradamante places they should probably also worry about not being allowed to bring Crowley into places where we're worried a trap could splatter our frail bird friend) - costs 24 to bring to level 5
Insight 4 (0/16 Zeal) (I forget if this is purely materials, or if it includes insight into people. Either way it's *probably* not as high a priority as some of the others, but I personally would rather we shore it up rather than devoting even more of our focus into pure killyness when we just showed that we're head and shoulders ahead of the curve in killy) - costs 16 to bring to level 5
Precision 3 (0/8 Zeal) - costs 24 to bring to level 5

Of these, personally I would say that Athleticism, Administration, and Scholarship are the big ones we need to bring up to speed. After all, Audrey has already proven that she's far and away the better of her peers when it comes to cutting people to bits. Why should she accept being at or below average in anything else? Bringing those 3 to level 5 would cost us 72 zeal, or about 60% of one year's zeal income, but I think that's a fair price to pay for having been delaying and letting these skills sit on the back burner for so long.

I'd actually like to see all our skills except precision and horsemanship up to 5 in the next two years, but I imagine that's a hard sell. Diplomacy has obvious power (especially if we want to do stuff like try to convince the York lineage to teach us about Hama), Scouting works nicely if Audrey ever has to pull a Jack and sneak around personally, and Insight's emphasis on understanding esoterica and metaphysics could play well with our eventual Hama trip as well as Severance's ability to degrade magic and its own esoteric applications.

I get the idea of not spreading ourselves too thin- but Knights are supposed to be troubleshooters given the need for Thanes to husband their strength, Audrey has established herself as a reliable tool in Wessex's halls of power, and she's definitely demonstrated her combat bonafides. We ideally want to establish ourselves as a very capable troubleshooter that can handle a wide range of assignments.

I am 100% on board with that, I just don't know how much the thread as a whole is. I think Athletics, Admin, and Scholarship are vital to get up to speed ASAP, while the others are stuff that I'm more willing to compromise on if stat crunchers must be fed :V

I do think that if anything this tournament has proven that we have the wiggle room necessary for us to be able to focus on these non combat parts of our job, since our combat is clearly ahead of the curve

Psyche 7 feels highest priority, then the rest. It's a boost for most mental skills like admin or scholarship, in addition to its combat and companion boost.

It is worth keeping in mind that "4+" is the expected level of Knightly Skills for a Knight just going into their 5th Decade. Which we aren't expected to reach in the next decade at least. Meaning that Audrey is only really behind on those skills by her own standards.

Of course, Audrey has high standards, meaning that her standards are the best standards and should be applied to everything.
