Going for bats. Also yes while bats are cute, wait till you see a 2 footer. Those things scare me.

Chapter 3

The slime wanted to eat and it had eaten enough plants. It had seen other animals eat each other before and its curiosity was getting the best of it. Why would the animals eat each other when there were plenty of plants nearby? The only thing it could think of was that maybe the animals suppressed the hunger more than plants did. The mere thought stirred the slimes hunger.

With its mind made up the little slime began to watch its surroundings, trying to pick a victim. The rats varied in size greatly, but they also tended to travel in small packs. Not always, but it was often enough that the slime felt leery about fighting a whole pack. The dogs seemed to travel alone, but seemed to be much more effective fighters. The slime had seen the dogs kill rats in a single bite.

The bats seemed like good targets to the slime however. They were small, some even smaller than the rats, and the seemed to be afraid of conflict. The rats sometimes fled from fighting, but the bats always ran away from threats.

As the slime attempted to hunt them it found that the main issue was catching one of them. Every time the slime got near to one of the bats they would fly away until the slime left. The slimes frustration only grew as the night went on. It would lunge for them time and time again and every time it would fly through the air only to land on the ground.

Then the slime had a stroke of luck. As it lunged at one of the bats the bat flew away and the slime hit the ground in disappointment, but the bat collided with another in mid air. Though it managed to stay aloft, the bat it had struck careened into a wall and fell to the ground as the impact twisted its wings.

Wasting no time, the slime leapt at its target and the bat was quickly smothered and dissolved in green slime.

New data collected. Echolocation and flight are notable abilities. Form deemed useful. Evolution available.

Energy gained, General upgrades unlocked.


Information flooded the slimes mind, but its focus was on the blissful satisfaction that filled it as the hunger subsided greatly. It wasn't completely gone, and it was ever growing, but it was so much more manageable now. It wanted more. It NEEDED MORE.

The slime quivered in anticipation as it considered what it would eat next.

The slime hungers. What will it hunt next?

Scratch and bite: The green bat scratches and bites at its foe.

Regeneration (5 energy):
Recover lost biomass much faster by consuming organisms and moisture
Core (5 energy): Serves as a magical heart for the body that regulates body functions. Unlocks new upgrades and allows the slime to use an action to shapeshift to one of its unlocked evolutions.

Photosynthesis: Able to generate energy by being in contact with the sun, extending the time the slime can go without hunting in proportion to how sunny its surroundings are.

Impact: The Green slime launches itself at a target

Regeneration seems essential to me, so I would like to save up for it.

Just a reminder, but rats rarely travel alone and dogs can kill rats with one bite.... and we only have 2 HP and 2 Def.

We don't have enough for regen but that'd be my next vote for an upgrade.
 
Tbc. hunting bats will be easier if you become a bat since you will also be able to fly. In such a case however, i will be rolling to see if the bats attack you back because another bat is less intimidating to them than a slime.

Also tbc there are degrees to failure in this quest. If you lose a fight (hp hits zero or you flee) the consequences will be notable, but they won't always be death if you arent facing something super dangerous. After all the point of this quest is mostly to practice my art in a fun way.

How you can hit zero HP and still live is something you will have to see when it happens. Cus it'll prob happen eventually.
 
also, the way upgrades will work is if 50% of total voters or more vote for it then the upgrade will be bought. if multiple upgrades are above 50% and there isn't enough energy to get them all then the option with the highest participation will be taken. if its a tie then i will choose.
