We are talking about Servents with supernatural sneaking skills. It doesn't matter what Cauldron wants right now they have set up the system where almost all capes with allies escape. They can't suddenly turn that off when it's inconvenient for them that isn't how systems work especially when all said allies are blank spots on path to victory. I am actually surprised that they are capturing her I would have expected them to go for the kill they have to know they can't hold her, but all authority figures in Worm are usually dumb and incompetent at all level well at the same time never acknowledging their fallings. If 90% of the people with allies who get captured by the PRT get broken out in transit or on base:
95% of the 90% get broken out because PRT incompetence and Cauldron policy.
5% get broken out when Cauldron has no interest in their status either way and the PRT is its usual self.
0% get broken out (in PRT influence zone at least) when Cauldron does not want them free.
I doubt Kathy has any chance to break free with help from her allies when the Triumvirate has an interest in her continueing incarceration.
Maybe if she gets birdcaged and not delivered into some Cauldron Lab she can finagle something there...
I liked the chapter, the fight was fun, don't like Armmaster bringing Kid Win into this. While Kathy not wanting to hurt him might be true, He is bringing a ward to a fight against an extremely strong opponent. Can't wait for the consequences to hit the Beardmaster and everyone who assisted in/approved this clusterfuck.
Really hope she stops being such a little bitch honestly, having read Tinker of Fiction, Kathy's Brockton Bay Adventures and I want a refund! almost back to back I can confidently say this is arguably the worst version of the concept.
Now with this chapter specifically however, I have no complaints other than her aforementioned limp wristed half assed stance on dealing with and entire guild task force and goddamn Alexandria but I really hope she goes "allright, I'm sick of your shit, time to play hardball."
This doesn't match at all with what I know of Scapegoat's powers. He heals and transfers wounds, but taking her gear? Even if the gear was causing her damage, he'd just get the damage and not the gear itself."Scapegoat!" Dragon shouted into the coms.
As one Strider and Scapegoat appeared, and the latter managed to touch her.
Instantly her suit was gone and on Scapegoat while she was naked.
I think the idea was sometbing akin to 'healing' her biomods, it's just that her suit is basically skin. So the consequences for grafting it to himself isn't going to be pretty. This doesn't match at all with what I know of Scapegoat's powers. He heals and transfers wounds, but taking her gear? I'm pretty sure this line's messed up unless Kathy's enjoying the hate."But the moment I see Alexandria, I just… snap. I hate her, the way she does things, what she represents; I find itappealing.appalling"
They are going full pants on the head... ugh if they tried just as hard with criminals the endbringers and scion Earth beth would be a utopic worldArmsmaster gave it two weeks before someone leaked that particular detail, and the Guild and Protectorate PR departments had to deal with another set of lawsuits for using it in a wide area in the middle of a city.
I really doubt that quite a lot lmao"She won't attack Kid Win," Armsmaster responded calmly as he detached the useless stump and grabbed the giant-sized halberd from his back.
No shit what was your first clue?"Ok," Scapegoat said, scraping at the bio-suit he was now wearing. "Now, someone gets to take this thing away from me because I can feel the inside of this thing touching me!"
Armsmaster offered no response; someone else would take care of this.
Instead, he focused back on the girl, who was now laughing.
He didn't feel like he had won.
I argue they plan this very well using capes with unique powers, its not like Kathy knows about international capes from Canada or Europe, I bet Taylor would easily get captured by this type of international taskforce with all the planning went into it even taking in her unknown powers.I am actually surprised that they are capturing her I would have expected them to go for the kill they have to know they can't hold her, but all authority figures in Worm are usually dumb and incompetent at all level well at the same time never acknowledging their fallings.
But again, he transfers the wounds. Even if he could decide to 'heal' away something attached to someone - which isn't something he does, instead being able to transfer the wounds he gathers on himself onto someone else as a form of attack - it would just transfer the damage and nothing else.I think the idea was sometbing akin to 'healing' her biomods, it's just that her suit is basically skin. He can't decide to heal away John's wounded skin and gain another layer of skin on himself while leaving John skinless, or Jane's heart and gain a new heart in his chest. He heals the target and their wounds get transferred, when he heals blindness his eyes are rendered blind - not that he takes their eyes away and replaces his own eyes with theirs.
appalling >< appealing"But the moment I see Alexandria, I just… snap. I hate her, the way she does things, what she represents; I find it appealing."
That is correct. You didn't win. In fact, you lose the war.
Tinkers are bullshit."Sorry, sorry, but I think I figured it out. Her powers! When she did that shout and sped up, one of my suit scanners picked up a reading."
I thought that Kathy would tear off Alexanderia's helmet and like that force her to stop her involvement in the fight."I will take care of that." A fourth voice pitched in.
"Alexandria, no!" Dragon shouted back, "Narwhal and I already told you! Involving you, someone she clearly hates, is a bad idea!"
"She is out of the city; collateral is no longer an issue," Alexandria argued.
"What part of her trying to kill you didn't you understand?!"
"She isn't the first one to try." With that, a new light appeared on Armsmaster's HUD.
She can sue them for child endangerment and nudity for minors. Nothing like them getting raked over that.Instantly her suit was gone and on Scapegoat while she was naked.
