It's certainly not a common ability to develop. And that specific Menos wasn't old enough to be involved in the mural. So why did I point you all that way?
...I want to say more. But I can't because it would be giving too much away.
Anyway, does anyone want to try voting on the last chapter now?
Using what you've managed to deduce, you might be able to change the situation with some words of your choice.
[X] Ask that they stop in the name of shared blood.
-[X] There is a terrible enemy under the earth. Explain the shadowed creatures and their penchant for possession... how many of your own people were made to slaughter each other.
-[X] Describe the mural, and the noble kami lit by sun and moon, and how they fought and guided mortals along different paths in opposition to ancient foe.
-[X] Your own people. Kami of the underground were guided here by that relic as a sign to gather together no? Not to massacre each other...
I feel like there is perhaps a better way to present this but... I don't know.
[X] Ask that they stop in the name of shared blood.

"Wait, hold on." You called out to the arguing pair "I don't think you really are each other's enemies!"
They turned to you, indignance still in their eyes. You'd have to push through that.
"You're of shared blood, you're both Kami, aren't you?"
You threw out the guess and prayed that your reading of the burning gold figures was right.
When you saw a confused nod from the burning gold figures, you knew you were on the right track though.
"There's a terrible creature we've encountered under the earth called the Abyssals. They are creatures of darkness that can corrupt and possess anyone and turn them into puppets. They made our kinds slaughter each other. It's possible that the stories you have of one another as enemies comes from them possessing other Kami."
"We've never encountered anything like that." The Lunar Seijin refuted "They may just be a creature of earth."
"But your stories come from when you were both on earth, right?" You pointed out "The creation of the Hollows and those magma-masked entities?"
Granted, none of the abyssal-possessed had masks but you weren't thinking about that at the moment.
"We have stories too, we have ruins with murals! It showed Kami bathed in the light of the sun and the moon teaching humans together to fight against an ancient shadowy enemy."
You took a breath "I told the Lunar Kami of this earlier, but we were all guided by a bell-"
"We have already told them that bit as well." Endymad mentioned quickly.
Nodding to him, you continued "We had that sort of ancient relic because we are Kami too, Kami of the underground. That relic must have been a sign that we should come and gather together right? Not to massacre one another!"
It was difficult, but you had managed to get some of the younger members of both groups to nod along. What you said made sense. The problem was the leaders.
The brilliantly gold Kami looked… unsure. It was the Lunar's Seijin that spoke up though.
"Earthly Kami? Then what of the… no!" He looked up, a furious expression on his face "It seems I was indeed mistaken about who our enemy was."
He raised his fists, but not towards the Solar Kami.
"It's you, the people of Yama!"
What? He was looking at you and your team.
"Magma cooled off to form rock, how blind I was to miss it! My apprentices, you have your targets- Go!"
The Lunars looked more confused by what was going on than anything else but they still followed their leader's order.
The leader of the Solars was deep in thought as he repeated the Seijin's words.
"The people of Yama, yes, I heard that term. Those driven into hiding after losing the war-"
Golden figures are hunched over in the corner, above them is a craggy roof. One of them holds a spear.
An image flashed through your head. But it didn't make much sense. Another plate had been-
Golden figures clash with dark figures, there is a dark figure with a spear in it that appears to be releasing a butterfly.
And that showed the spear uses fighting against the dark ones. Unless Kami at that time all used spears? But that was a guess that you had no real evidence for.
Regardless there was no time for thought. Tsukisen was running towards you, the Lunars having split up to deal with your team.
The history teacher and the principal were taking on the Seijin between the two of them. They should be strong enough together. The leader of the Solars had yet to move though.
He was coming for you fast and you knew you'd need to deal with his aura if he closed the gap. You needed to get something out in front!
He blocked the charge and as he did you activated your defensive aura. You needed to prepare for the long term.
Tsukisen didn't attack your double, instead he seemed laser focused on you as he tried to flank around it, triggering an attack of opportunity from your double.
His arms snapped up and a shield of yellow moonlight negated the attack but shortly shattered. Some sort of shield ability? It created a shield between his palms. Curious.
Also, annoying as it meant your double had just wasted all that reiatsu. Well, not really. Not that you were to know but those shields became easier to break with each one shattered so it would make it easier to attack him in the future.
For now though, Tsukisen tried to get around your double again.
Honestly, you'd been lucky that apparently you'd been out of flash step range for him at the start of the battle, otherwise you would never have had the chance to pick away at him so easily. If not in body then in reiatsu.
As he ran towards you though, you fell into the area of his aura and had to resist it.
Again, he brought up his shield and let it shatter to stop the attack cold. He needed to dodge your orbs and another opportunity attack but he was now in close range to you.
Save against your orbs: 7+13-7 (Your lingering Kido)
Damage: 8d4, 20
A fear gripped you as he charged you. He hadn't just been running towards you those three turns. He'd been moving slowly and studying your moves.
You'd felt like this once before while fighting a Shinigami, one with an ability to kill by striking assassination points.
Oh dear.
Tsukisen leaped forward, slamming a palm into your chest and a symbol shimmered into life on your chest. A circle shimmering completely with white light.
You flashed away from him, jumping between different fights between your classmates and the Lunars. The Solars were standing back but the noble members of the class that had been with them had followed the principal into the fight, helping out and fighting alongside team B.
Spinning around, you command your orbs after Tsukisen and your double tries to strike him again.
He was bleeding now. They bled the same golden ichor as Gaians did.
…What were you doing? Hadn't you been talking earlier about how you thought this was all a way the Abyssals were trying to get you to shed one another's blood?
Well you'd been fairly sure you weren't possessed but everyone had fallen into so much chaos.
His Will save to escape: 9+11-7 (lingering Kido)+15 (Reiatsu)
Yes, he can now move but he's still bound. Next roll to escape in: 2 turns again
"You are of Yama's kin." came his reply "Seijin's orders were to kill you all."
"Do you even know who Yama is?" You asked, angry "Because I have no idea and you all looked as confused as we did earlier."
"That doesn't matter, our Seijin-"
"Didn't explain anything to you and just turned on us suddenly when we'd come this way to work together. I don't know what he thinks we are but we know nothing about whatever he's saying."
"Even so, our orders are clear!"
He had been talking to waste time, to make your spell run out and to give him a chance to struggle free.
His Will save to escape: 6+11+10 (Reiatsu), fail.
Next attempt in 4 turns
But his struggling failed and you had more time to talk.
"Please! I don't want to fight you! We shouldn't be fighting, the abyssals-"
"They don't appear in our scripture at all, I only know what I've been taught. About hollows and those who used them to gain additional power. From what you've been saying, Abyssals and Hollows aren't the same thing."
Well… that was right as far as you knew? Abyssals come from the Dangai. Not from any sort of living being. They were distinctly two different sorts of being.
What had he said though. That Yama's people used hollows to grow stronger. That kind of reminded you now of the story of the red jewelled lance. And how many Gaian folk stories were saying something like "Be careful that you don't claim power that isn't yours."
…You didn't want to hear it. That was obviously more to it right?
"Look." You sighed telepathically across the link "We don't know. We're ignorant of whatever crimes our ancestors possibly committed."
"Ignorance doesn't make you innocent."
"Nor do the actions of our ancestors make us guilty." You argued.
You barely dodged again, a full moon appearing on your shoulder. You were glad that you'd had your second wind while talking earlier.
"That's just rubbish you idiot!" You yelled before chanting "Your eyes cannot see, The shine of the pure-hearted, Their brilliance blinds you! Bakudo number twenty four: Taiyō o Osoreru."
You spread the spell out to all of the Lunars fighting nearby.
He endured the curse that would have made the sun blind him for a few seconds. Not all the Lunars did though and your classmates used the moment to press the advance.
Despite that, Tsukisen was looking exhausted. Even so he tried to press into you to deliver another hit.
Another moon. You knew you had to settle this before Tsukisen had the chance to let one of those seals kill you.
Even so, you wanted to get through to him.
"Unlike you all who left, we've been the ones defending the world from the threats of those like Hollows and Abyssals. We're the ones that didn't abandon that duty, regardless of what our ancestors did or didn't do- we are not responsible for them. We are responsible for what we do!"
Stepping away again, you summoned another double in front of you. The battle had been going on long enough that you could summon your full host. You called the one from before over too.
The new one you had summoned went to try and grapple Tsukisen.
"I won't work with you, not unless my Seijin tells me to. But we should get his input with your added context."
You sighed and the moon symbols across your body faded and vanished.
The other battles were still going on around you but as you looked to the solar, you met eyes with their leader who stood up.
"I announce the following as a Sixth amongst equals and as a descendent of lady Amaterasu- These Gaians are not Yama's brood themselves. If you Lunar Kami won't accept that, we will join in the fight against you."
"What?" The Seijin barked as he was still fighting the two teachers (In what you think was a losing battle for him? The principal was keeping him on the back foot at least.) Many of the Lunars did back down at that. They were already fighting roughly two on one odds with both Gaian team A and B against them and they couldn't take three on one.
The Seijin looked around furiously "No, how could you be so deceived? These are them, the legendary brood that ruined our ancient peace. The ones the Grand Elder fought!"
"But you didn't fight them, and neither did I." The self-proclaimed "sixth amongst equals" mentioned "Times change, people change and societies change."
"Their sins are too immense to be forgotten!"
"And yet they have been." The sixth amongst equals gestured to the group "Look, if you're not so blind you cannot see, do you see any masks on them? Burning magma beneath their skin? Do you see any hollows among them, answering to their call?"
"The sins of their ancestors are their sins you cretin!"
The fight had stopped though. The Seijin had noticed that no one else was fighting anymore.
"All of you? All of you! Do you not see? He asked if I was blind but I must ask in turn, are you not all blind? These are Yama's followers! They may not use their dark powers anymore but that doesn't change the fundamental truth of what they are! If a hollow decided to stop killing and devouring souls, does that make it any less our duty to slay it to ensure it passes on through the cycle! No! By the Grand Elder's orders we are to slay Yama's brood to ensure peace for humans! If you would pity them, simply remember that by passing through the cycle, if they are truly pure then they would be reborn as cleaner beings!"
Some of the Lunars were in agreement with him and they raised their fists again.
Tsukisen didn't. Nor did some of the others. Tsukisen actually stepped forward.
"Honoured Seijin, it is clear that many of us are doubting this because our generation doesn't know about Yama's brood in totality. Perhaps we should return to the moon for now. If you believe us ignorant, you can teach us, but here and now is not the proper place."
The Seijin nodded, though he was still clearly furious. He gathered the Lunar to him and with a cast of his teleportation kido, they vanished.
Well, after all of that you were exhausted. The most simple question was "What do you want to do?"
Feel free to include multiple in a plan vote.

[ ] Just relax until it's time to make another decision.
Well, there's the answer at last. You got the first half "Solars, Lunars and Gaians are all Kami." but you missed the second half "Those evil monsters they both talked about were the Gaians."
Hey, what's the name of this arc again?
Anyway, I'm sorry if it feels like I didn't give enough clues. Plus there's that tablet of the mural that I mentioned that has a spear-using Kami fighting the dark creatures (hollows), I can't remember what I was thinking when I made that tablet really. I probably had a reason that made sense but I can't remember it now.

Hey, what's the name of this arc again?
This is also an amazing blindspot for us to have (from an ic perspective) you know?
Of course we wouldn't assume that our people were villains or monsters in the past... amd of course our own history has been white-washed. Even the abyssals called us assholes. XD
[X] Talk to the solars
-[X] Ask for a chance to visit them, and ask about their history and the history of your own people.
-[X] Thank then sincerely for their aid, and their forgiveness.
As another aside- that went about as well as we could possibly expect given a two on our diplomacy dice.
Of course we wouldn't assume that our people were villains or monsters in the past... amd of course our own history has been white-washed. Even the abyssals called us assholes. XD
Fun fact (As it won't be explained for a long time if ever and it's a fairly minor point): The abyssals have their own, unique, reason to hate Kami that isn't even slightly connected to the reason the other Kami hate Gaians.
Part of Gaian history can be refered to as "How many other factions can we cause problems for?"
Looks like the Gaians where menaces back in the day which is pissing off other races.

The Gaian and Solar Kami hung around for a bit and you took the time to speak to their leader.
After thanking them sincerely for their action, or maybe their inaction and then action, you asked for more information on them. Everything you'd said so far was guesswork.
"My name is King." The leader said "Ah, that's a play on Kin, or Gold in the ancient tongue. I am no actual King."
"Kalina is my name." You told him "But I don't know if it's particularly special."
King nodded and you went into your questions.
"So, as far as you can tell, how does our shared history even go?"
"The history of the Kami before they left earth?" He clarifies, at your nod he goes on "Much of it has been lost, even to us. We didn't even know the Lunar Kami existed. All our records just say something to the effect of 'and then after the feast, the Kami left the world upon which they'd been born forth from.' We knew of the name Yama though, is it truly lost to you completely?"
"Before today I never heard the name." You noted "Our own history only goes back four thousand years or so. Everything before that was lost and can only be seen in ruins. It was from ruins like that that I found a mural which had clues that you and the Lunars were both Kami."
"Hmm… What did the Mural show exactly?" King asked "I'll try and fill in where I can."
You needed to draw in the sand to get the proper layout of the tablets over to him but once they were all explained, King sighed.
"What on earth were they thinking? Those events were ordered in a really bizarre way."
So… turns out reading the Mural was kind of insight out?
It told an abridged history of the Kami, starting at the top middle before going down and splitting left and right later before arcing back up. The entire thing was meant to be read like some demented letter "W".
Golden figures are looking to the top right and reaching out to it. Red gemstones decorate the ground around them.
A golden figure with the sun behind it raises its hand, figures both in gold and carved from the rock are praying to it.
A rock falls from the sky, golden light trailing behind it. Below it is a golden figure pointing up at a field of stars.
A golden figure with the moon behind it raises its hand, figures both in gold and carved from the rock are praying to it.
Golden figures are looking to the top left and reaching out to it. Red gemstones decorate the ground around them.
Figures carved from the rock fill this area. There is not a single gold figure here.
Figures carved in stone with the features of animals fight with dark figures. One of the dark figures has claw marks in it.
A group of figures in golden robes are in a circle holding hands.
Golden figures clash with dark figures, there is a dark figure with a spear in it that appears to be releasing a butterfly.
Golden figures stand over a silver city full of figures carved from stone. Some of the stone figures carry silver swords
Three golden figures pointing at one figure. Around all four of them are red gemstones and dead black figures.
Figures carved from the wall can be seen practising martial arts, a golden figure watching over them.
Golden figures can be seen talking to other figures that are carved in the stone and without gold
Dark figures burst out of figures carved in the stone. The golden figures look to be fighting them.
A golden figure standing over a brass city, figures made of the same brass-like metal stand around it.
A golden figure, shot through with black veins, is killed by a golden bird.
Golden figures are fighting the dark figures and black tendrils using magical blasts
A gold figure is standing alone in a desert, black figures around him. Black tendrils reach up from below

All you can see in this area is cracked stone, was there something here before?
Golden figures are hunched over in the corner, above them is a craggy roof. One of them holds a spear.
A golden figure is struck down by another gold figure, the attacker is full of veins of black.
Black tendrils wrap up from below, reaching to the panels above.
Black figures march to the right, clashing with figures carved from the rock who wield silver swords.
Golden figures point down at the ground as black figures fall into a pit.
Kami lived on the planet before humanity, how they really lived during that time is debated by Solar historians and you doubted any research on earth could help figure it out.
They'd watched humanity evolve and they eventually began to understand death when they'd see a human spirit that other humans couldn't.
The next bit of history is very vague and foggy, as it does cover what King admitted was about but a Kami called Yama (Or Enma, sources vary but Yama seemed the more popular name) began experimenting with souls, both of humans and of Kami. While it isn't strictly known if he invented hollows (As hollowfication appears to be a natural process in some ways), he did certainly create some empowered hollows.
"So were they called Enma? Or Yama?" You asked this because you actually had once heard the name Enma before. It was in a Kido chant that Aizen had demonstrated in a lesson.
"Sinner, your time's up! For your crimes there is only, The final option. Face Enma's punishment in, The roaring fires: Jigoku! Hado 64: Mugenjigoku Nessen Rihi Kado."
"Most of our records say Yama." King noted "But some people think that was a nickname or something like that for a Kami that was on the high council of the Kami at the time, who yes, was called Enma."
King continued the story, It seemed Yama/Enma had created some sort of powerful hollow, or based on the legends of the Lunars that you'd both heard about when they were yelling, the ancient Kami might have learned how to corrupt Kami into some sort of Kami-Hollow Hybrid.
The other Kami had worked together to fight Yama/Enma, training humans (Depicted in stone), how to use various spiritual arts.
"That silver city is likely the Seireitei, those using swords being Shinigami. Some Solars actually have retained the knowledge necessary to forge Zanpakutō, actually-"
He turned around "Hey, Beler, come over here for a moment."
The Solar he called to came over, and you saw with surprise that they wore what seemed to be a Zanpakutō at their waist.
"We're not experts in their use." King noted "Our own innate powers are stronger without specific training, however for one like Beler here who has taken the necessary training they are something to respect at least."
Beler bowed and left as King continued "The city of brass? Likely the Albawaabat Alburunzia. It was another experiment of the Kami, their first attempt to create something like Shinigami. I don't know much about it though. All I know is that it's hidden somewhere in the Dangai."
What else was there?
Ah yes-
A golden figure, shot through with black veins, is killed by a golden bird.
"That one… that's probably Yama/Enma's death." King suggested "That golden bird is my ancestor, Amaterasu Hi-no-Kami, she was a legendary talent, sister to the first Kami to ever exist who was simply called 'The first'"
He tapped the spot directly above it.
Three golden figures pointing at one figure. Around all four of them are red gemstones and dead black figures.
"I'm not entirely sure, but I expect this was soon after that. I don't get the full context but this might be the final feast before the Solars and Lunars left. The one in the center would be the Gaians but… I don't know why there's another Kami there."
"Maybe there's another group of Kami out there somewhere?" You suggested.
King shrugged "If there is, we've never encountered them either. Regardless, after that feast, as I mentioned earlier the Solars departed for the sun and the Lunars likely left for the moon at the same time. Under the leadership of my ancestor they built the solar capital in the heart of the sun using advanced Kami magitechnology."
After that, skip about four thousand years to the present. The Solars changed from being pseudo-monarchy to a… what would be the proper term? A commune where everyone is equal?
"The solars on the sun are post-scarcity." King explained "There's no real reason for us to fight for resources when we can use a mix of mana and sunlight to just create whatever we want. Even so, there is value in historical importance. Me and my friends here saw that earth wasn't in the best way and thought it might be worth coming here to help humanity out."
You tilted your head to the side "That's all nice and all, but we don't like showing off for the humans. Since they can't see the spiritual, the beings like us which are half-and-half are something that would just freak them out more. If you could learn to disguise yourself it might be better."
"Hmm, I'll take that advice."
Thing is if Africa really didn't have its own defenders right now as the history teacher had suggested, having the Solars might be good for them.
"I don't suppose there's any chance that we could go visit the sun is there?" You asked "It sounds incredible."
King winced "Not a good idea. My friends and I ran out here against the direct orders of the highest authorities among our government. We're… probably criminals now? Besides I know they'd probably hate Gaians. I talked with the rest of your class before about the Gaian Empire and I have to tell you that the Solars are so fiercely anti-monarchy and Anti-Yama that they might actually come here to invade if they knew what 'Yama's brood' was doing these days."
Well that was just great wasn't it?
You ended off the talk thanking them again for forgiving you so easily. King laughed at that.
"Well, you don't really seem all that bad for imperialists. That's still a black mark but it's a lot better than the evil cultists to Yama that we were all told about as children."
After that talk, both groups decided to go their own way. The Solars would be heading south-west into the desert to set up a hidden community of sorts. They'd try to find a way to make an easy line of communication to the Gaian empire but that might take time.
Either way, the problem was sorted and the mystery solved. The bell had rang probably as some sort of Yama-age early warning system of "Oh god the other Kami are coming back, Run!" or something like that.
Once you were out of school and Pseudo-exiled, maybe you could come and visit the Solar village. You might be able to learn a lot from them.
Returning to the Gaian Academy took a few tiring days but soon you were back in place for your final year of schooling.
Was there anything specific you wanted to do over the last few months of your education?
[ ] Plan vote, feel free to write in as much as you want. Some ideas though are-
[ ] Talk with a classmate you haven't got the chance to talk to a lot (You could even find time to speak to one of the noble students while no one was paying attention) (Write in who)
[ ] Visit something in the imperial capital as you won't be able to return (Write in what)
[ ] Do research on an advanced subject (Which)
This act isn't actually over yet, Lost Sins has two adventures in it! Either way for now it's just a question of what you want to do leading up to graduation. I could have just skipped to the next major events but that's after nearly a whole year that I wanted to put some kind of filler in.
The Yama/Enma thing is actually a bit of a mistake. The evil Kami's name is just Enma in all material in this TTRPG, but I forgot and called them Yama over the last few chapters so I need to include a reason they can have both names.
[X] Let's EARN that exile baby! Woo hoo!
-[X] Talk with your friends about your suspicions about... well people actually knowing the histroy of Kami. And just covering it up.
-[X] Interrogate your teachers
-[X] Sure is convenient that we were apparently vastly despised and engaged in dark bargains with hallows. And then collectively forgot the reasons why.
-[X] I clearly recall you deciding not to tell us about the Abyssals. And then we ran directly into them anyway.
-[X] Also thinking about it. The Abyssals seemed to be mentioning an ancient grudge... the destruction of their home? And what did they say? "Well, it's not like you would know."
-[X] Implying of course that there are those who know your people's collective history. Besides your dire enemies anyway. Of which there are apparently a lot.
-[X] You are pissed because the lost knowledge came back to bite you and your entire class a second time now.
"We didn't tell you because we didn't think you'd be targets." Your history teacher noted "Previously it was only commoners, and the non-important ones at that, that were targeted. That any of you students would be targeted… we didn't expect it."
"The history of the Kami before they left earth?" He clarifies, at your nod he goes on "Much of it has been lost, even to us. We didn't even know the Lunar Kami existed.
"Well, you don't really seem all that bad for imperialists. That's still a black mark but it's a lot better than the evil cultists to Yama that we were all told about as children."
That would be really great to do, and being exiled would be a mark in Kalina's favor here.

Late October was when you found time to speak to Hesiodio in private about your fears.
You both were in a small park near the edge of the Imperial City, it was growing trees with a rainbow of leaves.
Hesiodio and you sat on a park bench.
"What we learned from the Solars…" you began "how much of our history is covered up."
"A lot, I'd expect." Hesiodio remarked "Though in the case of what the Solars mentioned, that happened before our collapse. That could be said to be 'lost' instead of 'hidden'."
You smiled slightly "You're making excuses now?"
"Well you said it didn't you?" He asked "Before, those evil Kami weren't us. They weren't nobles or commoners specifically. I don't feel that there was any real cover up there, just ignorance."
There was a pause in your conversation before he went on "That said, there are points in our history that are really vague. What is it now? Fifty to seventy years ago?"
There was something missing from the history books around the time of the great war between the east and west. What it was had been impossible for you two to determine though. But after whatever it was, the Gaians had wanted to take a very closed stance to the rest of the world during the war and the time after it.
It didn't look out of place if you weren't paying attention, Gaians always liked to keep to themselves, a reflex that now looked natural when you noted that only the Gaian Kami that had been the best at hiding had escaped a purge from the other Kami after serving Enma.
But there was clearly some change there. Something that set the Gaian's willingness to interact with others back fifty years. Despite the fact that Gaians did fight in the war on the side of Soul society.
"Then there's also whatever the Abyssals said before." You remarked "Something about us destroying their homes, not that we'd know. Or something like that."
The question of "What was their home" was obvious enough. To the best of what you knew, Abyssals came from the Dangai and you were fairly sure it had always been like it is now. Not that you'd done much research on the Dangai.
"That makes it sound like it was definitely covered up." Hesiodio remarked "Some great sin, probably done by nobles."
You weren't quite so sure, Nobles seemed to do their absolute best to fulfil their obligations as nobles. They didn't seem the types for wanton destruction of a species' home.
Gaians had a lot to answer for, but it was all obscured in darkness for you. You didn't even know where to start looking for whatever happened before the war and you couldn't ask an Abyssal what had happened to their home as they were trying to kill you for it.
In November you stopped by the imperial library, it was relatively close to the Academy, basically just a source of (less military) teaching information. The dangerous stuff was kept in the academy's own library of course.
Your goal was to uncover a few more secrets, or potentially lost knowledge. How to become an archmage, what all the races of the world were (including the ones that were forgotten about.)
You were able to find mention of them at least. It was truly an ancient path of training. Few records remain of archmages.
Archsages are more common. It was a druidic path in some ways as it taught you how to fight better by taking traits of an animal's form and adapting them to your body, along with how to improve healing abilities. Yet they didn't actually have anything to improve Kido despite requiring a good amount of Kido knowledge to learn.
The path to being an archmage, the ones actually able to improve upon or modify Kido, was lost.
…Maybe the other Kami would know? The Solars and Lunars.
Well let's look at the lore you did have on the archmages.
The least of the archmages could cast Kido of 70 and above. That was far beyond anything you were capable of yet. You'd need to devote yourself to a single branch of Kido if you intended to get there anytime soon.
It also required knowledge of Eishohaki, how to shorten incantations without losing too much effect.
All archmages would carry on them a charm of some sort, a necklace, a bracelet. Sometimes a wand or a staff. They could use the item of power to empower their spells, allowing even the weakest of spells to hit hard enough to deal with powerful enemies.
That was about all you were able to find about them, so you turned your attention to races instead.
Your old stealth teacher, the one that was stolen away, had once given you a list.
Humans, Gaians, Shinigami, Quincies, Hollows, Agents, Lost Souls, Bountos, Shikoukenjin and Djinn.
And onto that Solar and Lunar Kami.
Humans were largely ignorant of the Gaians and the Gaians liked it that way. They lived normal lives in normal ways. That said, you did see records of humans that were spiritually aware and had stranger abilities. Strength and ability that surpassed normal humans, humans that could fly or throw fire, humans that used seemingly mystical tools that acted similar to a Shinigami's blade. There wasn't that much info on them here though. There wasn't any close relation between them and the Gaians. Though there was a note that Gaians should expect to see more of them in the new world. There were multiple theories on why, but most boiled down to "There aren't actually more spiritually aware people there, they're just less careful in hiding their abilities."
Apparently it was quite a headache for agents, though they didn't seem to be as focused on hiding these superhumans as Soul society was about keeping their grip on the supernatural.
Shinigami and Quincys could be skipped, you'd experienced both of them in person.
Hollows… yeah, they could be skipped too.
Agents were the Shinigami of the west who served in heaven, they were tense allies with the Gaians. Not exactly friendly but they fought on the same side against Lost Souls who were just the western equivalent of Hollows. Apparently they tended towards more humanoid forms, but they could be as monstrous as any Hollow.
Bountos, or just "The Bounts" were of two sides. Dusol had taught you about those before. Vampires, some natural evolutions and some were the result of a Shinigami experiment. As far as the Library recorded they might as well just be seen as "More sentient hollows" as they were also devourers that needed to be dealt with one way or another.
You did find mention of the pact that Dusol had talked about, the one that forbade lethal feeding. If a Bount didn't kill then they didn't disrupt the cycle even if they fed on a person.
There was even mention of the different clans of the Bount and what their powers tended to be.
First a note: True Bounts are created, Artificial Bounts are born. That might seem the wrong way round for most races but it was due to the nature of how they came about. An Artificial Bount is the child of another Artificial Bount, with the parenting happening as normal. When they are born they obtain a "Doll." Something like a Shinigami Zanpakutō. That allows them to stay stable as without it they'd age to dust in moments.
Natural Bounts however turn a human into another Bount through feeding on them and then giving them some of the Natural Bount's blood. The human needs to already be powerful, else they will age to dust much like Artificial Bounts without a doll.
You read the list of clans quickly.
Clan Attentater, blood-hungry assassins.
Clan Habgier, sophisticated nobles.
Clan Uberleben, near-feral beasts.
Clan Sterben, secretive necromancers.
Clan Schatten, masters of the dark underbellies of civilization.
Clan Wahnsinn, mad men, lunatics and fools.
Clan Verzerrung, thieves and con-artists
Clan Behandlung, doctors and healers- and seemingly the only clan it seemed Gaians and Shinigami had any amount of respect for.
Clan Zauberbann, masters of magic. They apparently had their own brand which was quite different from Kido called "Magia Sângelui" or "Magic of the blood."
Next were Shikoukenjin. These were a race with animalistic features. They came in many different sub-races.
The most well known were the four guardians.
Kirinketsu - Children of the azure dragon - Guardians of Japan and eastern parts of China
Tora - Children of the white tiger - Guardians of western China, India and Western Europe.
Shougakubou - Children of the black tortoise - Guardians of Russia and many other northern areas.
Hououza - Children of the vermillion phoenix - Guardians of Oceania
There were more though, all over the world.
Tatanka - Children of the white buffalo - Guardians of North America
Sugmanitu, also called Tyrir - Children of the sun-eating wolf - Guardians of most of europe.
Shirokuma - Children of the white bear - Guardians of Canida, Alaska and parts of the arctic the Shougakubou don't manage.
Jinchou - Children of the ice emperor - Guardians of the south points of south america, africa and antarctica.
There were some more that had gone missing
Mamushi - Children of the red snake - Would-be guardians of north africa if they hadn't all gone missing hundreds of years ago. Might be related to the clans that went missing during the Jigoku escape war you heard about.
Sasori - Children of the nameless scorpion - Would-be guardians of India, had they not gone missing with the Mamushi.
Henpuku - Children of the great bat god - Would-be guardians of central and south america had they not also gone missing.
And some more minor groups.
Suzume - Children of the tongue-cut sparrow - No true home, more like mercenaries.
Icra - Children of the sea - Guardians of the deep, but not normally treated as a true member of the alliance.
Wanizame - Children of the great shark - Guardian of small island nations, mostly those located in the pacific ocean.
Uiba - Children of the master of stories - Would-be Guardians of Africa if they hadn't all gone off somewhere without telling anyone in an incident unrelated to the Jigoku escape war.
They all seemed to get on alright with Gaians it seemed. It was another situation where they were all fighting the same enemy and protecting the same world.
…Hmm. You wondered if those were the ones with the features of animals that appeared in the mural?
Djinn were the last on your list for now. Though little about them was known. They lived in a world/city called Albawaabat Alburunzia that had apparently been created for them somehow. It was a separate place to the normal spiritual world and was therefore not on the same "plane" as the Seireitei or Heaven.
Details were scarce, just that they were occasionally encountered in the Dangai and they were quite warrior-like as a culture. They and the Shinigami seemed to not like each other that much, but really who did like the Shinigami? In general you mean, some Shinigami were pleasant to be around.
There was also mention of a few others, though little was known.
The Broken were some strange variety of hollows found only in the Japanese city of Hiroshima that were partially incorporeal even to spiritual weapons. You couldn't find any more mention of them in the library though, or any mention of why Hiroshima was special.
Abyssal Ones as you've observed before are some kind of Dangai native that can possess normal people to force them down destructive ends. They were said to be nigh-immortal, always returning to the Dangai when killed unless someone killed in a way that prevented reincarnation.
The last thing you found was a single line that was discussing species.
"One should take heed if they encounter a piece of the spirit king, for they tend towards power on a level thought of as impossible by any normal person."
…That was worrying.
That was all you found though.
After the new years, you started finding time to say proper goodbyes to all your old friends. When you were able to find your noble friends in private they apologised to you again that there was nothing they could do.
Helenria even gave you a big hug as she apologised.
Mariannerie had looked like she wanted to give you one too, but decorum kept her back.
Sigubert who'd grown into a fine teen over the years wished you the best of luck on whatever journeys you decided to take.
Endymad promised that if the worst happened, you should alway be sure to send a message.
"Send it in code if you have to, but I and all of the class will do everything we can to help you."
You took time saying farewells to your common-born friends too as it was likely that if they were stationed in the main area of the empire (as was likely with them being as skilled as they were) then you'd never encounter most of them again.
That said, Hesiodio was fully planning to get a position at the edge of the empire so you might run into him at some point.
As spring moved on, bad news reached the capital. Rebellions were brewing anew. Many Terra Knights were dispatched to quell the rebellion before it reached the heart of the empire.
The school felt much quieter without many of the substitute teachers there. They even had to take the medical staff so sparring was temporarily banned unless you had a student with healing abilities.
When there was only one week left until your graduation on Saturday, you really felt all the weight bearing down on you. One week until you'd leave.
You had been studying a lot during the year though, enough that you really had grown!
Level Up!
Level 9! That's big, well, not really. Not anything new. I'm just commenting because now I'd argue you could be seen as "Very weak captain level."
There's much to do! Two feats, one spellcasting grade, one blade arts grade and one new ability for your innate power.
Feats first! I'm going to Bold the new thing as you should probably take note. Remember that your plan should contain two feats.
[ ] Improved Gaian Spear (Increases your spear's critical range to 19-20)
[ ] Earth Son (Allows you to disguise yourself as human)
[ ] Heroic Attribute (Allows you to gain +2 in any stat of your choice)
[ ] Reiatsu Healing (The reversed form of deadly touch, can be used to heal allies. Not technically a form of Kido, but instead reiatsu manipulation)
[ ] Seasoned (You're getting the hang of a lot of related bits of information, this adds your int to all of your skills that aren't directly used in combat (It boosts Bluff for example but not weapon skill), halved for non-favoured skills)
[ ] Academic Knowledge (Your knowledge checks are now roll 10+1d10 instead of a D20. You can't botch knowledge checks. A roll of 10 is treated as a natural 20)
[ ] Improved Spellcaster (Your spells' damage and saving throws scale with your spellcraft ranks)
[ ] Kido Focus (May be taken once for each school of Kido, allows you to learn spells from there as if it was one level higher. You wouldn't learn any new spells yet though unless you also took something like enlightened)
[ ] Eishohaki (You may pick a number of spells equal to half your spellcasting mod, they may be casted as standard actions with only a minor loss in power.)
[ ] Countdown Spell (Metamagic, you may delay the casting of a spell for a few turns)
[ ] Origin Spells (Metamagic, you may designate a different location to act as the origin point of a spell, instead of originating from you)
[ ] Well Versed Spell Casting (After a long rest, you may exchange the spells you know for others you could know)
[ ] Time Ticker (Metamagic, you may concentrate on instantaneous spells to allow them to recur each turn for a discount for a few turns)
[ ] Hard Evasion (You can make a handful of your spells harder to evade, raising their DCs slightly)
[ ] Distance casting (Increases the range of your spells)
[ ] Reiatsu Manipulation (Technically you could have bought this as soon as you gained blade arts but I forgot, Your damage dealing spells and blade arts add your Spear's damage to them, a second time in the case of arts that already deal weapon damage)
[ ] Prestige class: Battlecaster, first feat: Warrior Mage (Gives you a bonus to avoid attacks of opportunity and you add your spellcasting mod to spell damage)
[ ] Boost (Use your reiatsu to push one of your physical ability score higher for a few turns)
[ ] Melee mastery (Charges reiatsu through your spear to increase damage)
[ ] Overbearing reiatsu (Magnifies your reiatsu so you can do much greater feats with it, part of a tree that leads to discounts in all uses of reiatsu)
[ ] Prestige class: Member of the Igneous Order, first feat: Volcanic Uprising (Your spear attacks ignore DEX modifier of damage Reduction)
[ ] Gaian Power (Adds another new ability to your innate ability)
[ ] Improved Flash Step (The start of the long tree to get Shunpo)
[ ] Super Gaian Power (Adds another Bankai ability to your innate power)
[ ] Prestige Class: Terra Knight: First Feat: Pressure Release (Gives you an upgraded version of your innate power, won't be designed now though.)
[ ] Write in (Just in case you want to ask about something else I've mentioned in the past or if you want a specific ability. I can tell you if it's possible.)
Secondly: a new ability for your innate power (Chose one)
[ ] Heavenly Power (Your doubles now get their own sets of orbs.)
[ ] Heavenly Rift (Your doubles increase in size and get better stats because of it)
[ ] Angelic Host (You can summon +1 double at a time)
[ ] Dancing Lights (All of your orbs do +2 damage per orb, meaning that right now they'd be doing 9d4+18 holy damage)
[ ] Illumination (Makes your spear glow in the dark, opens up more of the tree's abilities)
[ ] Deflect light (Gives you the ability to go invisible)
[ ] Fused strike (If you haven't summoned your orbs, this allows you to make a melee attack empowered by your orbs, their damage is added on to normal attack damage if you hit.)
[ ] True sight (You can see through more convincing illusions)
[ ] Awareness (Gives you a general purpose awareness boost)
[ ] Speed (Gives you +10ft land speed)
Lastly, Kido and Blade Arts
For the sake of sanity, I won't go through all the spells/arts this time. Just chose:
[ ] Bakudo 3rd Grade
[ ] Hado 1st Grade
[ } Reido 1st Grade
For Blade arts I can assume you'll just want to take another grade of Diamond Mind so that isn't a problem
Please put all four votes under a plan to make it easier to vote for.
The comment I made about the Solars and Lunars knowing about Archmage is because the class's name is actually "Lunar Archmage." but being a Lunar isn't actually a prerequisite so all Kami could take it. Hell, anyone can take it, there are no class limits on it unlike Gaian Archsage or Solar- actually no, the Solar version (Called Solar Hierophant) doesn't have a racial requirement either. You could probably end up learning both if you knew what you were doing. Both require 7th level spellcasting though.
"One should take heed if they encounter a piece of the spirit king, for they tend towards power on a level thought of as impossible by any normal person."
Bakudo 30 and 32 can deal damage if you get your positioning relative to your enemy right (they inflict knockback and if an enemy is slammed into a wall they take damage) and 34 creates a spike pit that enemies can fall in. That's it though.
The least of the archmages could cast Kido of 70 and above. That was far beyond anything you were capable of yet. You'd need to devote yourself to a single branch of Kido if you intended to get there anytime soon.
Also pretty straight forwards, take the '[ ] Eishohaki (You may pick a number of spells equal to half your spellcasting mod, they may be casted as standard actions with only a minor loss in power.)' feat.
All archmages would carry on them a charm of some sort, a necklace, a bracelet. Sometimes a wand or a staff. They could use the item of power to empower their spells, allowing even the weakest of spells to hit hard enough to deal with powerful enemies.
This is the most obscure instruction. It's obviously a specific type of magical/wonderous item, so do we need to take a crafting feat, or something else I wonder...?
I think that Bakudo is probably best compared to the Conjuration/Abjuration D&D magic schools, while Hado is more like Evocation. Bakudo is less about direct damage and more about battlefield control. There are some direct damage Bakudo, such as No.99, but that's a ways off.
For the Lv. up, I agree with ZX for the feats, but we should probably continue with our specialty for the time being. Speaking of, I think we get a new rank of Kido once every other Character level? We got access when we hit Lv. 5, 7 and 9 so far, so if we focus on Bakudo we'll hit no. 70 by the time we're level 17. But there's no level cap of 20 in this system is there?
[Edit:] Also, we do eventually want to get Bakudo No. 81 Danku, which (at least in Bleach Canon) is supposed to be able to block almost any kido, or kido like ability, with power equal to Lv. 89 or lower. Not sure how it function in this setting specifically. [/Edit]
[X] Plan: Mage Knight
-[X] Earth Son (Allows you to disguise yourself as human)
-[X] Prestige Class: Terra Knight: First Feat: Pressure Release (Gives you an upgraded version of your innate power, won't be designed now though.)
-[X] Dancing Lights (All of your orbs do +2 damage per orb, meaning that right now they'd be doing 9d4+18 holy damage)
-[X] Bakudo 3rd Grade

Level Up!
Level 9! That's big, well, not really. Not anything new. I'm just commenting because now I'd argue you could be seen as "Very weak captain level."
Knowing the class is in their hands makes visiting them much more of a priority, learning both would be really awesome,
[X] Plan: Mage Knight
-[X] Earth Son (Allows you to disguise yourself as human)
-[X] Prestige Class: Terra Knight: First Feat: Pressure Release (Gives you an upgraded version of your innate power, won't be designed now though.)
-[X] Dancing Lights (All of your orbs do +2 damage per orb, meaning that right now they'd be doing 9d4+18 holy damage)
-[X] Bakudo 3rd Grade
Getting the Terra Knight Class would be great, it can be our focus class before Archmage and Hierophant. Dancing Lights is a nice ability and Bakudo would be a good advancement.
There are enough votes but zxzx24 didn't do theirs as a plan vote and they missed part of their vote. Do you want to switch to the plan (As other than Bakudo which wasn't included, their individual votes are the same as the plan that is being voted for)
