Jurassic World: Dominion

Why are there so many dinosaurs with no timeskip? Including ones not seen at park / known to survive park. The real escape would be InGen's genetic technology, which is God tier, but even then it's not like most people could make viable ones.

They'd do other stuff that would probably lead to a Planet of the Apes situation, but not instant problem dino populations. Maisie Lockwood is still some kind of teenager at most.

The dialogue remains suggestive that Maisie is something far more interesting than a mere human clone. Claire and Owen aren't talking about Blue. They're too concerned and they can't seriously be in favor of protecting Blue's freedom so much (or the whole story is nuts; Blue can kill for fun if bored). The dialogue is referring to Maisie.

The way people talk about Maisie has never made sense in a world where "write a dino" has been a physical fact so long its gotten stale.

I mean, the last film basically copied Rise of the Planet of the Apes ending 1:1, so I'm not surprised they're riffing on the latter two sequels.

In any case this looks perfectly eh, Fallen Kingdom was a pile of trash but hey dinosaurs in the snow.

Colin said in an interview that there's a four year time skip between Fallen Kingdom and Dominion.

Also, Camp Cretaceous indicates that other people are messing with dinosaurs, so maybe they added to the breeding stock?

I don't think that 4 years is enough time to get what the 3rd movie implies happened. Also, did anyone else notice that the T-rex mere presence caused a projector to start sparking wildly like it was a TNG console?

I'm reminded that in the original jurassic Park the entire threat was confined to the t-rex being a gigantic land carnivore indiscriminately wrecking shit and the raptors being, essentially, a pack of hyper aggressive jaguar/wolves.

Edit : Also the raptors were smarter than anyone but the chief of security expected. Not human level, mind you, but the danger came from underestimating them.

Yeah. I mean, it endangered nobody who wasn't on the island. Now somehow... it's an existential threat to mankind? Sure, the locusts might be, but they're not dinos.

I mean, if your entire movie is having a point of failure that can be summed up as: Wait a minute, why not let some hunter's bag 'em, you have a problem.

Jurassic Park is just slowly coming to terms with wanting to be Resident Evil.

In the next movie Doctor Henry Wu's genetic engineering research will come to fruition and his true motivations will be revealed.

To create the perfect being!

Cloning tank opens and vapor clears to reveal a naked Mila Johavavich. :/

I'm bizarrely hyped for poor man's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Oh yeah that's right this movie still exists doesn't it? And oh yeah ~The Director~ decided that this needed to go on the record:

Colin Trevorrow Teases New Dino in ‘Jurassic World Dominion’: “I Wanted Something That Felt Like the Joker”

"It just wants to watch the world burn," Trevorrow said of the Giganotosaurus' personality.

The director previewed the new threat in an interview teaser with Empire magazine published Saturday, in which he revealed its name and origins. Called the Giganotosaurus — or "Giga" for short — Dominion's big bad gets its origins from a real-life source. Unlike the prior films' Indominus and the Indoraptor, both born as genetic hybrids, the theropod (or dinosaur characterized in part for its three-toed limbs) was the product of the Late Cretaceous period.

"I wanted something that felt like the Joker," Trevorrow said of Giga's personality as the film's big dino terror. "It just wants to watch the world burn."

So, three things come to mind here:
1) This is what happens when you give the unbridled... something... of Book of Henry what seems to be a lot of creative freedom and an effects budget larger than some developing countries' GDP.
b) I am now simultaneously sad and relieved that Trevorrow didn't get to do Duel of Fates instead of Rise of Skywalker. Sad because holy shit if this is any indication it would've been amazing, and relieved because the fan reaction probably would've destroyed the planet.
iii) If there aren't 100,000 Jokersaurus memes out in the big wide world by Monday then the Internet is officially a mistake and needs to be destroyed.
3.5) I am never giving any of the people involved my money, but I will pirate the shit out of it as soon as a good camrip becomes available.

I want a movie or TV show that is about bringing dinosaurs back. That's it. No resident evil dinosaurs. No megacorp shenanigans. Just a group of scientists and interest groups trying to accomplish an unprecedented feat comparable to the moon landing. Where much like the landing it has both herculean innovation and logistics obstacles to hurdle, but also faces a public skeptical of what purpose the achievement would serve.

I mean, the country would have been better off if the moon landing money was invested in, like, public healthcare or something.

There are a vast number of scientific inventions that were enabled, advanced, or outright invented as a consequence of space exploration. In terms of direct healthcare applications that includes artificial limbs, insulin pumps, LASIK, invisible braces, CAT Scans, and infrared ear thermometers. Challenging blockbuster projects like it lead to all sorts of innovations, many of which would not be immediately obvious.

Even if the hero was on Pluton, I think he will still busy to work on a bike.

....

They should switch all the dinosaurs with bikes. Monstruous self-sentient bikes which hunt humanity. Fast bikes. Big bikes. Smart bikes.

And the hero will have a deep relationship with a gentle bike. There will be a cute mascot bike too. And all of them will save the world by bike. It will be a truly masterpiece movie. Better than this one.

If only mankind had developed a tool, to propel bits of metal out of the end of a tube, at a very high velocity...

So far it's looking i'd say about half as good in terms as writing as Sharknado.

This looks so dumb, I love it.

I wonder if they are gonna get Grant and Sattler back together in that movie.

So this looks like War/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes mashed into a Mission Impossible flick, right? With dinosaurs.

Definitely going to be big and dumb, I'll grant it that.

"Blue had a baby, that's impossible" nice to see them recycling plot points straight from the original.
