Journeywoman's Journeys, A Fantasy Age of Exploration Worldbuilding Quest (Updated Daily)

Slight tweak.
Combined Halana into a 6 day festival; 3 days fasting and racing at sea, followed by 3 days feasting on land.
The Halana text still applies.

[X] …Odus-Halana

A combined Harakai and Orisatl traditional festival.
It reflects The Exiles arrival during Halana, to be welcomed with open arms and a feast, after their long Exodus at sea.

3 days prior to Halana, young and adventurous sailors, of all races, prepare for 3 days of fasting at sea.
Boats of all shapes and sizes launch, and must race around the entire Archipelago, for 3 days and 3 laps.

The winners are seated as Honored Guests at the Halana feast, and may partake of drink freely, but not yet food.
They must wait until all boats finish the race, just as The Exile Captain refused to partake of food, until all his people were safe.

I just can't pass up a Halloween analogue

It's a university town, it needs a spring break.

[X] Shutterday

Named after the traditional closing and locking of the university's main gates to keep drunk students and their pranks out, Shutterday marks the end of the exam period and the beginning of a few rare weeks of relaxation and celebration without any looming deadlines for students of higher learning.

With thousands of energetic youths unleashed on the city streets, very little nonessential work gets done, and so many craftsmen and laborers get these days off as well to join the festivities.

While some scoff at the wild parties and mumble something about the degeneracy of today's youths, Shutterday has become a valued tradition and attracts numerous tourists from afar to partake as well.

An Appropriate Education

A curious and fearless child, Anne-Seht's favorite holiday was always the Amravolk tradition of Nartanatotin.

Falling on the Autumnal Equinox, Nartanatotin is Khot-Sen-Lanua's most macabre holiday and one that little Anne loves with a passion. Perhaps she's drawn to the slightly forbidden nature of the macabre, or is fascinated by the garish costumes and arcane contests. Or perhaps she's just delighted by the large numbers of freely given sweets.

As a festival largely thrown by Khot-Sen-Lanua's Amravolk population, both of Anne-Seht's parents are able to take the day off without needing to participate themselves in the planning or operation of the celebrations.

And, by mutual consent, her father keeps his networking to a minimum and her mother puts aside her dislike of crowds to join the cloud of cousins and parents as the clan tears their way through the festival devouring sweets and challenging all comers in the day's contests.

By night, Anne will often find herself falling asleep on her parents' laps, or the lap of one of her many aunts and uncles, as they watch Amravolk Bonebinders put on a show with their colourfully decorated charges, ancient magics and modern chemistry joining in an impressive show.

Even as she ages, Anne-Seht will never lose her love for Nartanatotin, though her appreciation will grow as she does, the things she appreciates about the festival maturing along with her. Few youths are able to resist the chances for acceptable mischief that the festival provides.

As part of that maturation the young girl, at perhaps seven or eight years in age, will begin to realise her part in her grandmother's plans for the clan. The clan's Matriarch is a woman with high standards and intricate plots, and the mild manners of Anne's mother and the ambitions of her father lead to them acquiescing to Annasavai's plans for the young girl. Those plans involve…

[ ] …A Guild Apprenticeship

Anne's education is an apprenticeship to one of the guilds at an early age. Though many children become little better than servants to guild members and workplaces who are expected to learn on the job, Anne's important clan affiliation means that her apprenticeship is a guided experience under an experienced Master as part of one of Matriarch Annasasavai's many alliances and deals with the other guilds and influential families.

A Guild apprenticeship will give Anne a firm grounding in the skills of one of Khot-Sen-Lanua's important professions, and also guild contacts. There will also be expectations that Anne will maintain her membership in the guild after she becomes an adult and will maintain professional ties and obligations.

[ ] …A Full Scholarship

Anne's education is a heavily academic one. Though too young to directly enroll with the universities, her grandmother insists that she receive a comprehensive academic education from a young age. As such the old woman has Anne receive tutoring from a number of her scholastic and arcane colleagues in a variety of academic fields, and simultaneously receiving a mixture of religious and practical teachings at the feet of the Divine Sisters of her family's church.

When Anne reaches the minimum age (14 in Khot-Sen-Lanua) she will be enrolled in a University program that she shows promise in, where she will be expected to attain a degree that would make her parents proud and make her grandmother satisfied.

[ ] …A Clan Education

Anne's education will be kept "in house" as it were. She will be expected to assist not just her mother and grandmother with the duties of the Archaeologists' Compact, but other members of the family. She will be immersed even more thoroughly in the past and even in the arts of magic and self defence.

When she reaches the proper age (14 in Khot-Sen-Lanua) she will be enrolled at her grandmother's alma mater and expect to complete a degree in both an historical or arcane field before graduating and taking up the family business. Annasavai will likely expect Anne to join or lead several expeditions to prove the quality of her skills and education to the Matriarch.

This vote will determine the kind of education that Anne receives and will also set us on the path to the sorts of adventure that we'll be following. and establish the foundational skills that she'll have.

Write-ins (120 words today) that catch my eye will be incorporated into the background as another type of education that some of Khot-Sen-Lanua's children are exposed to.

Worldbuilding one of the reasons why a Harakai and Silef pairing was sought by their Clan.

Harakai are part-spirit, Silef aren't.
A mixed race could gain the benefits of both.

Annasavai, Clan Matriach and archaeologist, sought to study Silef history... a little unconventionally.
Also Protagonist-chan needs an awesome backstory.

[X] ...a Spirit Guide

At age 7, Harakai children bond with an ancestral Spirit, who guide their education.
There has never been a Silef Spirit Guide.
It is made possible only by Anne-Seht's mixed race.

From the day of Anne-Seht's birth, the Clan laboured for 7 years.
After endless runic inscriptions, countless expensive reagents, and immense spiritual energy.
Finally, upon commencing the Harakai ancestral ritual, her long-awaited Education may begin.

Anne-Seht's spirit will call out beyond the veil of death, to commune with her Silef ancestors.
7 years of ritual sacrifice, to form a 7 year spiritual bond.
'Honored Elders, if I am worthy, teach me, guide me.'

What wonders could be learnt, from her Silef ancestors?
