Jessica Jones

I mean I'm a DC fan and I'm not a big fan of Jessica Jones as a character or of Alias as a comic itself so I don't have a lot of skin in the game so to speak.
Ah. I'm one of those filthy 'I like both' people when it comes to Marvel/DC. Not much of a fan of Jessica herself, but Purple Man's delightfully vile and I've got a thing for Daredevil and Iron Fist so I'm pretty invested in the Netflix Marvel stuff.

I will say the Daredevil show was better than any of the movies so far.

So, the series is just out.

Watched the first episode just now. Compared to Daredevil it was a lot slower and more tightly focused on the protagonist, though there is a lot of build up on Kilgrave, who, even though he barely appears, is the sickest motherfucker in the entire MCU.

It really says something when even the Joker doesn't call himself the bad guy.

Another thing I'm liking is how slick Jessica is when she lies to get info.

Mid way through the second episode now.
Why would Kilgrave give the guy he took Kidney's from a way to survive? Does the idea of him living the rest of his life like that amuse him?
Also, something bad is going to happen to those incestous twins, isn't it?

What channel is it playing on?

Netflix released the whole 1st season in one go as part of their exclusive line of Marvel shows, the first of which was Daredevil.

If Kilgrave gets his own fandom of adoring tumblrites because of Tennant I will drown in my own vomit.

There's tons of people all over actual factual Hannibal Lecter's dick, so I'd ready the bucket.

Blowout Kilgrave fandom soon, fellow tumbler...

Honestly I could see how his powers might play into something of a submissive sexual fantasy. However I doubt most fics will play into that and instead focus on how he's a misunderstood bad boy that just needs a good heart to help change him. Sort of what happened to the Joker after the Dark Knight.

Man so up to episode 6 and I have to say Jessica has fantastic taste in entry level bourbon. Quality advertising.

Man, in episode 9 with the torture and the beatings and the mental torment etc that Kilgrave suffered through, I was actually starting to feel sorry for him. Then BOOM! Death by a thousand cuts.

On episode 4 now.

I was kind of surprised with the scene where all the victims of Kilgrave come to the lawyer's office. I thought the scene was going to be almost entirely played for laughs, but only the first couple were. Kind of scary that these innocent people are going to get lumped in with the crazies and liars that come crawling out of the wood works.

I'm torn on the cop who was mind controlled. On one hand, I feel really bad for what he went through, on the other hand, with the way he acts the police brutality jokes write themselves.

Kilgrave is probably the evilest character on television. And what's worse is that pettiness and spite that would reduce a lesser villain makes him even scarier.

Ending spoiler: (There really was no other option other then to kill him. His powers had reached the point that he could control entire cities if he went to a campaign rally or a concert, and he was an unrepentant monster that made even the Kingpin look like a saint)
Regardless, Tennant was perfectly cast. His natural charisma helped pull the audience the same way the people in the show were being pulled.

There's a rather infamous scene in the comics where Doctor Doom no-sells Killgrave's powers. If that scene were replicated in the series, who should stand in for Doom since Marvel can't use him? Fisk, maybe? Loki?

I loved how later on..

They look like they're giving the net everything they need to make Kilgrave misunderstood with the 'hero' scene. Then they make it abundantly clear that he's doing it in order to try to get her to feel more for him given his powers aren't working on her anymore.

Then they give him a full on sob story with mom and dad.. and it all turns out to be a lie to get people to sympathize with him either to sucker them in the case of most or in another twisted attempt to get Jessica to try to be with him.

There were only two things that disappointed me, both in the finale and both fairly minor:
One, they only did the purple vein effect for one shot rather than letting him keep it for the rest of the episode. Two, that Kilgrave's death wasn't more gruesome, I was hoping for a manual decapitation rather than just a neck snap.

Just finished Episode 6

This is the type of villain that amuses me most. And worries me of course, because how do we know KIllgraves first victim wasn't himself. Considering how hard he had to try in episode six not to use his powers... imagine the type of stuff that would happen because you simply spoke a random thought out loud.

Of course if they try and give him a Freudian Excuse I'm gonna riot. Because DAMN IT, we need some decent crossover badguys.
