It Belongs to a Museum

A big thing that draws me to the vampirates is that yes, the attendence would more often then not be the undead, but boney has already hinted that the vampire coast undead aren't as braindead as we think. I love the idea of a bretonnian sailor zombie having discussions with a old juton wraithknight about our selection of classical bladed weaponry of the reik basin.

Just think of all the Lizard Trinkets we could have on the Coast and all the Nehekharan artifacts we wwould want to nab! We could piss off two ancient magical polities known for mercilessly razing thieves off the face of the earth at the same time!

The Asurs are the polity with the most extensive trade network in the world. We could get both those, and also steal things from Cathay and piss off the not!Emperor of Mankind as a bonus.

I feel like the Asur are too sensible for that though. Like they'd use their financial and diplomatic mastery to get interesting artifacts with no risk of razing, because they're smarter and more sane than Altdorf.

The *real* dark horse pirate museum is the bjornlings deciding to make a museum of everything they've raided and traded for across the entire planet. They've got as much reach as the Asur really, somehow.

It'd probably be similar to Sartosa in that It'd be a blatant attempt at making people think they're more than just chaos worshippers for diplomacy purposes.

Vampire Coast remains very slightly ahead, by 2 votes out of 400+.

And looks like Altdorf is now at a solid third place, ahead of Sartosa by twenty votes, but it likely won't matter as it's still 50 votes behind the top two contenders.

Tilea is still last, still just over half the votes of the next option. Sorry Tileabros, it was an interesting option, but I guess the other ones are just even more interesting.

Tilea would have been interesting just for what sort of da vinci style steam tanks or flying machines or whatever would have cropped up as wunderwaffen for the city to posture against the others.

Well, seeing as Tilea is in dead last, I'm now wondering which option will allow us to play as a druuchi. I'm amused by the idea of some dark elf corsair treasure hunter becoming a museum curator for one reason or another. They couldn't cut it in regular politics and the museum is a chance at obtaining power, prestige, and showing off their intelligence. Plus druuchi are catty bitches and I think it'd be very funny to play as one outside of dark elf society.

Marienburg favors high elves, so it feels unlikely that a dark elf would end up in charge of a museum there. Vampire Coast feels like a better choice to get a druuchi curator, but I'm not sure if I'm feeling the pirate or necromancy vibe. Learning about elf history and gathering artifacts from ancient human dig sites sounds more interesting to me.

Antiquarians basically grabbed shit they thought was cool and showed it off. They didn't care that much about chipped pieces of pottery, trash piles, fire pits, etc. It had to be big, flashy, intact, and cool. The obsession with material culture deprived of its social or geographical context was par and parcel with the entire process, as stated in the opening post.
