Is calamari patriotic? - HELLDIVERS

Eruptor compared to Autocannon has very slow firing rate, has less total ammo than Autocannon and projectiles have maximum range before they auto-detonate.

Also significantly lower reload time. Fully empty Eruptor reloading is about same speed as Autocannon, but autocannon can be speed loaded as long as you don't empty the chamber.

Autocannon is fun for its versatility: It's got a good range of targets it can effectively engage against, giving you more room or utility in the rest of your loadout and stratagems.

The only thing it's "bad" against are hordes and the stuff like heavy chargers or bile titans, and even then flak or aiming carefully can do some work.

Or you take it to the bot front and laugh because literally everything the tin cans have can be taken down by an autocannon

I just feel like… If you're only running five shots before reloading, what is the autocannon bringing that you can't do with the AMR or Eruptor? Both of which reload faster, and don't take a backpack slot.
AMR is noticeably less powerful per shot, bad against squishy anatomy because it doesn't explode, and can't be used to demolish nests and factories because it doesn't explode.

To write my own comments on autocannon, it's main advantage is its versatility. There is no enemy it can not kill. It has enough AOE to deal with crowds, fast enough fire rate to lay down fire, rapid reload if you are tactical about it and so forth. It can basically go into any situation and work.

In contrast, AMR and others are more specialized in their roles. They are better in one thing, but worse at others. AMR for example struggles with crowds.

I mean it's not heat as much as hyperbole- if you like the AC then by all means play it.

Taking out the gunships can be done with anything that penetrates heavy armor- machine guns, AMR, and eruptor all shine against them.

For complete overkill, any of the anti-tank weapons also work fine, albeit also carrying way less ammo.

Gunships are mostly a problem when they flank you and ragdoll you for eternity- if you're loaded for a good mix of units you or your team can probably swat them if you don't get snuck up on.
The Eruptor is a primary and a very slow shooting one, it isn't really comparable aside from single target damage, the projectiles self-destruct at like 140 meters too iirc? It's much more specialized and frankly I don't see people using it over Crossbow pretty much ever.

Also, the shot-to-shot bolt time on the Eruptor is 2.4 seconds. The tactical reload on the Autocannon is 1.7. The fast reload on the AMR is 2.6. I don't really see the reload issue tbh, it's like having an extra few rounds on tap for emergencies at the cost of dealing with the long reload later.

The breakpoint on a gunship engine is like 1 AC / 2 AMR. An AC is great at clearing an entire wave without reloading. AMR is great too. Kinda interchangeable in that respect, but the autocannon needs less shots / needs less reloads. You can shoot gunship engines with anything that has medium pen, but it's like a mag and a half with a Lib P or 2-3 Crossbow bolts. And it feels like a waste of ammo with the MG-43.

It is a role that AC is very good at though on top of handling trash and medium enemies. When attacking a gunship patrol or fab it's nice to have an AC watching the air.

AC also is pretty reasonable at taking on heavy targets that AMR would typically need several reloads to do; I think the full mag on AC will pop belly hatches on a Factory Strider for example. 5 shots will do a Bile Titan head or a Charger butt. AMR definitely cannot handle those same heavy enemies without many reloads.

AMR's exceptional at medium/armored enemies like reinforced Striders but it doesn't hold a candle in either heavy / boss enemies or trash clear.

If there's ever a Halo collab, what would you expect? They probably won't give us the assault rifle due to a lack of sights. I'm going to bet on a silenced SMG, the shotgun, and the battle rifle.

If it were to happen it'd almost certainly be the BR, the shotgun and the magnum. Ideally there'd be a stratagem weapon but a lot of the likely options have a lot of overlap. There are a lot of launchers, the Hydra would likely be second best to the WASP, and the game already has a Splaser.

Given they indicated that if they did a HALO crossover, it'd be ODST... I'm kind of expecting the silenced SMG.

Well, I see it going one of two ways (theoretically), either maximum nostalgia with the ODST stuff or trying to plug Infinite or whatever the current product is at the time. I imagine given the "where is the line" post that ODSTs, Marines, and maybe S-IIIs/IVs would fit the power level of Helldivers better.

M7S SMG, maybe the normal M7 (might as well if you're gonna model it), Magnun, silenced Magnum, BR-55, the Spanker, and the chaingun emplacement as a heavy MG hip-fired strategem would be really fun. They could probably add any of the MA-5 ARs, I think some of the Infinite ones have holographic "iron sights." Plasma grenades would make my day.

ETA:

Assuming it's a 3-Page Warbond format, maybe like

PG. 1: UNSC Army Trooper
Halo Reach Trooper Armor (Siege-Ready Medium)
MA-37 Assault Rifle
M-392 DMR
(Spnkr if we're lucky)
Civilian Warthog FRV Skin
Fall of Reach Memorial Cape

PG. 2: ODST Pt. 1
HALO 2 ODST Armor (Medium)
BR-55 Battle Rifle
M7 SMG
SRS-99AM Sniper Rifle Strategem (or a cosmetic reskin of the AMR)
Plasma Grenade
"HELLJUMPER" Player Title

PG. 3: ODST Pt. 2
Halo ODST Armor (Medium, maybe Buck or Dare variants? In an ideal world both lol).
M7S Silenced SMG
M6S Silenced Magnum
AIE-486H Chaingun Strategem
"Warthog" FRV Skin
"Rookie" Player Title

But we're talking like a $40 crossover easily with that wishlist haha.

So I didn't see this being discussed here, but what are people thinking of the announced Helldivers movie? I get the joke that we already have (it's called Starship Troopers), but I do kinda want to see how one would translate the absolute chaos and casualties of average Helldiver mission into a movie.

Unless the movie leans into it and we follow a group of faceless Helldivers who just die over the mission, always replaced by some brand new actor who dies two minutes later and by the end of the movie our cast is entirely different than the one we started with.

It's a film based on a videogame; not only that, but one without a defined story structure for them to work off. There's no point expecting anything good. If it is, that'll be a pleasant surprise, but I'm expecting a flaming pile of shit that completely strips out most anything Helldiver for bland spaceman wars.

Johnny Helldiver, who just had his application to Helldiver training rejected, singlehandedly stops a Terminid and Automaton plot to invade a peaceful human settlement (by reporting a sighting of undemocratic activity to a democracy officer), and is recognized for his heroics by being assigned as Democracy Officer on a Super Destroyer with a super elite helldiver team sent to infiltrate the Illuminate and rescue the designated love interest from illuminate mind control.

Each named actor playing an actual helldiver appear in only one scene each, unless their character is adressed by name in which case they get a second scene.

I dunno, Sonic and Mario movies were apparently good, and Fallout TV show was great. I would wait for some news first, before declaring it shit in advance.

Honestly, I actually think it could be a really fun movie if they basically make it an extended version of parachute sequence from deadpool 2. Have a cast of Helldivers take off their helmets to reveal stars only to die like thirty seconds later, each death more hilariously stupid then the next. Importantly, have the movie frame each death in the most overwrought dramatic way possible like they're trying to win an Oscar, and none of the characters realize how absurd this all it.

Regardless of number Spartans are Spartans, in the hypothetical universe where such a crossover happens it would be pretty exclusively ODST.

Trying to complete a mission with a constant revolving door of actors would be funny, I don't know that it would carry a whole film.

I think Arrowhead would want ODSTs, I just meant plugging newer media would probably be the goal for Microsoft with any crossover as opposed to older parts of their IP / the MCC.

If nothing else, there's the Superdestroyer's crew that could be cut to to break up sequences of Helldivers fighting. And also I'm like 99% certain that any Helldivers film is going to include riffs on those propaganda bits of Starship Troopers.

Hmm, idea. What if the movie won't be about Helldivers, but rather the Super Destroyer crew? How they go through Helldivers like a hot knife through butter, and nobody comments on these super elite soldiers keep dying like snowflakes in Sahara?

Is it just me or is the Sta-52 the best assault rifle in the game. Stahl Arms gave it iron sights instead of a red dot to contain it's power.

It's pretty fun with the Siege Ready armors for the extra ammo and faster reload. Otherwise I think the reload's a bit too long for me when its main job for me is crowd control, and it doesn't have many magazines. To me the other ARs are more usable without speccing out with Siege Ready all the time.

Helldivers PATCH 01.002.101

"Time for a big update! FRV handling tweaks, tons of fixes, and the RETURN OF EMOTING WHILE RAGDOLLING!"

They decided to keep support weapon magazines for "Siege Ready" armor, you can toss grenades and strat balls from the FRV, stim boxes restore 4 stims, supply pack can give stims. The Warp ships should work with grenades properly now.
