In Which I Play Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment

It basically makes as much sense as Yui and Pina being able to be downloaded into Kirito's NERV gear and transfering over to Alfheim.
 
Can't we have any decent MALE characters in SAO? Most series have a lack of female cast, SAO has a lack of male cast members.

Children's Card Game Eugo is ONE male character out of .... how many actual male characters are there in SAO? Oh that's right, Kirito is such a high ranking mesophage that he has literally suck all the good qualities of any male characters around him, which is why he's the hero and every other dude else is touchy touchy rapey person.

Other than that, yeah, Eugo's cool.

Yeah, Agilbro needs more deban. Just four or more male characters would be enough to spread the agency around, not even Kirito could suck out the agency from four or more competently written male characters.

I am, I'm actually more of a games and cartoon guy really.
 
Y'know, how does Agil do it? He apparently runs a shop, stays on level for front line raiding and finds the time to help out lower level players.

Seriously, he would have made an awesome protagonist or lancer just for being competent.

Go take a look on LNs at wikipedia, and see how most of them are harem. Very often, it's either harem or otome-harem/harem of boys when it comes to Japanese stuffs. The only consistent male-dominated genre is the sport genre, I believe. Even in shounen-genre the cast ratio is starting to shift too lately.

You know, I wouldn't really mind reading a story where a man has more than one wife. None of that harem shenanigans either, as in he's legally married to two women and more. I'd be interested what plotlines would come out of that. It could be anything from comical to dramatic and certainly romantic.
 
Since Yui has been loaded from ALO into a private CPU in Kirito's room, there's nothing preventing her from creating a player account in ALO.

If Strea can do it, Yui can do it. The only question is, which race would she pick?

She's unplugged from the Matrix, Neo. She's not contained in ALO's servers anymore, but on a dedicated computer in Kirito's home. A computer with internet access.

Strea either exists on the same computer, or another one just like it. And Strea created an ALO player account from that computer.

Yuk can create a player account, essentially as an alt. ALO/Cardinal will not recognize or care that there is any relation between one Navi Pixie and a player character that doesn't own the Pixie.


I'd reckon she'd follow her "Mama's" steps, albeit as a full support-specced Undine instead of Asuna's healer/DPS hybrid build.

Still think Asuna should have been a Salamander. Probably isn't only because that would make Klein "too threatening" or some horseshit.

Looks like Lost Song will have the Martial Arts skill... or at least the Claws skill, not that there seems to be a difference what with those kicks.

I'm told that Hollow Fragment just stuck Argo with Daggers. Speaking of which, Silica and Philia seem to be using short swords rather than daggers?

Maybe Asuna has had enough of the colour red. It reminds her of her times in SAO (from the very first month of the game to the end) and ALO (where her Titania costume had a red ribbon).

Kawahara Reki isn't really known for writing storylines with lots of well-done guys. Read up his other series Accel World and you'll notice that the usual harem shenanigans threaten to spill out.

Beta Male friend can't catch a break despite the fact that he was -- and should still be, to an extent -- the Alpha Male.

The one dude in the Black Legion's awesome Four Generals has yet to even appear, without one word or thought given to how they're going to free him from the SNK-Hard Boss spawn-camping him. Yet all three female generals are introduced decently quickly, with plenty of sexualization.

Meanwhile, other girls pour out of the woodwork and fall from the sky to surround the Main Character, despite the fact that Reki has once again made it clear that his Main Character is pretty exclusively devoted to the Female Lead.

I really like Accel World, but I'm not blind to its imperfections.

At least the Female Lead gets her own cool adventure where she saves the day without the Male Lead at all... she even returns from her adventure in grand heroic style to save HIS day, and in general does not suffer anything like Asuna's chickification.

Just binge read this entire thing, and holy crap.

You know I actually really liked SAO, one of my favorites honestly. But I get the feeling that's probably because as a critic, I had to learn the ability to shut off negative observations just to enjoy things.

Now that I've seen how bad it actually gets, I'm scared to go back through it with observations on. And I get the feeling if I had someone like you commenting the entire way through, pointing out all the bull? I probably wouldn't have liked one of my favorite series in the first place.

Congratulations on making it through this game, I've played actual H VN games that didn't pander to the audience as much as this. Most of the time with much better writing, and an actually enjoyable story.

I'd actually go ahead and call most of the Harem bullshit in this game kind of sickening. And I have a lot of respect for your ability to make it through it.

The HF writers on the other hand are brilliant people, and Philia was awesome.

I also seriously have to compliment your commentary. When I wasn't laughing I was engaged, and without your commentary I probably wouldn't have been either.

Try going with Bobduh's reviews or Shockz's IWIW. Really loved Bobduh's Hard Boiled Kirito btw.
