Maybe she went Spriggan, to reflect her treasure-hunter ways from Aincrad?


Incidentally, did anyone know Philia is a Greek word for love? Today used in terms like xenophilia or acrophilia, the love of exotic things and high places.

Nodding to her relationship with Kirito, the word seems to have denoted the "friendship" form of love rather than the romantic/erotic kind, which was referred to as Eros (root of "erotic", natch).

We can be reasonably sure she (and the writers) picked it just because it actually fit HER.

In the Light Novels, each of the girls picked their races for a reason.

Asuna wanted to distance herself from "Titania" and try Healing so she made an Undine.

Silica picked Cait Sith solely because of their Beast Taming racial trait.

Sinon picked Cait Sith because they have the best eyesight, which is required for sniping in a world without scopes.

Lisbeth picked Leprechaun for the bonus to Smithing they have.

Leafa was already a Sylph.

I can't remember what Agil picked and why, and Klein picked Salamander... Because of his personality? I don't know.

Kirito chose Spriggan because MUH BLACK COLOR SCHEME, and nothing else.

Meanwhile, seems like Philia chose Spriggan due to their racial skill bonuses that greatly benefit treasure hunting (which is her favorite profession), like night vision among other things.

Rolling the same race as Kirito was just the bonus.

Well I did specify "girls", I just sorta tacked Klein and Agil onto the end.

Not to mention "MUH BLACK COLOR SCHEME" was mostly due to having no time to really research the game the way he would have were he playing for fun.

Instead of going for stats or bonuses like he normally would, he instead went for his favorite colors, so sue him. He kept his race later at least partially because he found the Illusion Magic interesting.

A tad unlikely though, as I'm not sure if there will be an English version of the game...

Then again... THIS particular game got a (semi-mangled) English release.

Lol at the screenshot on the right side of page. They saw the opportunity and took it. I hope you have an amusing censor image handy for flying sections.

This makes more sense in two ways.

1) Why code in an entirely new class of weaponry and attendant Weapon Arts when you can just give her the next closest thing?

2) She failed the Martial Arts quest the first time in the beta and didn't seem to care for a second try after the official release. Or rather, unarmed Attack Skills required a secret and difficult/annoying quest to unlock, so why would there be a more accessible quest for claw weapons (which would be very similar to the Martial Arts ability)? It seems more likely that Argo would HAVE to just settle for daggers.

After watching a livestream of SAO yesterday, I chanced upon a new commercial ad for SAO: Lost Song.

It showed a certain character with blonde hair, an olive grey bolero and wielded claws, attacking a monster.

... Boy, do I hope it's who I think it is. ;)
