All Asgardians have some bit of magic in them, and for the majority of them it improves their reflexes and sight. Asgardian fighter jets are designed to be able to interface with their pilot to improve their latent ability, and the magic transfers better from skin to receptacle. Hence why females are preferred as pilots, and why the Asgardian Royal Naval Service is so female-heavy. It was only recently (read, five years before the start of the GIW) that Wardenclyffe created improved magical transfer technology, and it was the end result of nearly fifty-years of research.

Male fighter jocks can still fly, and in the Naval Service Air Forces, they are actually quite skilled. Partly due to the fact that they have to be above average to even be accepted into the navy, and they have to compensate for their lack of magical ability aiding their piloting skills. Even after the improved MTS was implemented fleet-wide, males were still trained without the use of the MTS until they graduated. This is slowly beginning to change, with the females also not being trained on the MTS and being taught to fight without relying on it as a crutch.

In short, they have no pants for a good reason actually. And by the end of the war, it had gotten quite popular, so it spilled into civilian life as well. *shrug*

BTW, Asgardians use Gauss weaponry as small arms, if it affects anything you're going to be writing about them in the future.
 
The Umrazi's personal weaponry wasn't designed for use against other Umrazi, but rather, the exceptionally deadly wildlife of their homeworld.
They use guns that would be better suited for fighting Titans or creatures from Monster Hunter.

Each Marine has a Heavy Weapon and a Light Weapon.

The Heavy Weapon I'm currently coming up with is, right now, a cluster-missile-swarm launcher. It's essentially a VLS rack a person carries that launches a swarm of missiles meant to kill a big, giant van-sized flying carnivorous armored insect back on Um.

The Light Weapon is an auto-tracking auto-targeting auto-aiming Particle Beam gun meant for dispatching pack animals at long-range.

Essentially a multi-beam sniper.

The Umrazi's space ships may be bad at war, but their personal weaponry is refined. Also, ironically, they're rather inhumane. Most of their weapons would make hollow point rounds look merciful.
Makes sense, though. They're meant to be used against beasts, not people.

The Umrazi just leapt straight to nuclear fusion.

Funny thing is, they've essentially built Casaba Howitzer Beam Cannons already, and it's arguably their most powerful close-range weapon.

Problem? They're using them as propulsion drives, and although they realize that they're dangerous to aim at other ships, the thought of deliberately weaponizing it hasn't been entertained.
