[9] Insist on going with him.
[5] Give up on the idea.

(normal disclaimer about doing this manually and not looking too hard for people who changed their vote)

Okay, here. Technically, you don't have to fight them. Also they're not real frogs.

Are they toads then?

Seriously sounds like Noise, but I think you kinda dodged the Y/N on that. So what else is a 'fake' frog?
Homestuck has uh wait that's a toad right? Or was that a frog?
Final Fantasy has Frog Monsters... does that count?
Star Ocean had a frog monster thing right?
Naruto? Wait those are toads again I think.

Alright done guessing for a while.

I will answer this with a small hint for 2 wpts.

A evangelion quest? Well this is going on my watchlist. I can't wait for the mind break and despair.:V

"It doesn't matter." You shake your head. "What else am I going to do, sleep? I'll accompany you for the journey there, at least. If I get really bored I could just leave or something."

Your father looks at you with an unreadable expression for a bit, then gives a soft smile. "Very well. Come along, then."

You follow your father out onto... the eighth level of the underground. It takes just a few seconds for another elevator to arrive even as the first one continues to descend further into the building, and the two of you are soon back out on the surface.

A car is already waiting outside, practically a clone of the one Katsuragi-san had picked you up in.

Still tense, you look around warily before you enter the car, and when you slide into the back seat it's someone else at the wheel.

"Good evening, sir." He greets your father, then peers at you over his shoulder. "Hey there. I'm Aoba."

"Shinji," you return as amiably as you can. "Nice to meet you, Aoba-san."

"Pleasure's mine."

Soon the car is navigating the mostly empty streets, and your father breaks the silence with a quiet observation.

"I hear you have been doing well in school."

Small talk, huh? Well, you suppose you can play along. You shrug. "It's not like what they're teaching is much of a challenge. Mostly I just do my own thing, and the teachers are understanding enough."

"Hmm." He hums. "Things have changed a lot. When I was your age, the education system was far stricter than it is now."

"Well, don't you sound like a real father now?"

"Don't get too cheeky, now."

"Heh."

"..." He shakes his head, but seems amused.

"..."

"Say, Shinji."

"Hmm? Yes, father?"

He pauses briefly, then. "I hope you won't find it too hard to settle down here."

"It shouldn't be too much of a problem. I adapt fairly easily."

"Even if I called you here on such short notice?"

...Ah, that's what he means. You smile, shaking your head. "Don't worry, I don't mind. I was curious, anyway."

"...Alright."

--.....!!
t... ..t .... . .. t......--

...it's much easier to shrug off the weird feeling now, and you even allow yourself to relax a little bit as the ominous atmosphere from before seems to wane slightly.

The car then slips back into silence, albeit a much more comfortable one.

Before long, you pull over at another building. You thank Aoba-san and alight from the vehicle. As you follow after your father, however, you are struck by another bout of disorientation.

--BZZTT--

Ugh..! It's back, and... much worse than before...

Before you could even begin to recover, a short-haired woman frantically runs out from the lobby towards your father. In her haste, she ignores you completely. "Sir! Thank God you're here. It's started again, and the sensors are picking up rapidly increasing activity in the immediate area."

"What? This quickly... Damn it, after so many years, why now..? Where's Katsuragi?"

"She's on the way, sir."

"Good." He shakes his head. "This has to be the fault of that girl... Let's head down into containment and let's see whether we can fix this."

"Yes, sir!" She runs off back into the building.

Your father then turns to you grimly. "Shinji. Get back in the car and get Aoba to take you back into the city. I apologise, but it seems that I'm going to be a lot busier for the foreseeable future."

Before you can respond, he takes off after her, leaving you alone outside the building. Aoba's black sedan is still parked behind you. You force yourself to stand up straight...

What are you supposed to do now..?

[x] Write-in : Something strange is going on... There is that weird feeling you've been sensing. Maybe it's connected? Try focusing your mind on it.

Write-in only votes are bad for player participation. I get it.

But more votes = faster updates, so guys, please. I'm depending on you to keep this quest alive.

[x] You need to figure out what is going on, follow him! (discreetly, of course)

[X] Get back in the car and get Aoba to take you back into the city.

We can do our duty as a quest character (wander off and unnecessarily endanger ourself) after our duty to be a good son.
