This is the proper way to MC-hood! Pick a random direction and beat up everyone you find!

[x] Be direct and volunteer to help at the shrine. She's the Youkai exterminator so perhaps she'll teach you a few things.

We should potentially look at getting connections to some Youkai, at the very least for the banter and mostly for the potential of getting our hands on some powerful tools.

A very good choice would be Tewi Inaba the leader of the Youkai rabbits and the one who permits the Lunarians to stay within the bamboo forest. Her ability is basically giving people good luck but due to how Touhou powers work and the fact that she's about 3000+ years old...well lets just say there is a reason she gets away with all her pranks.
 
There's no way this character is going anywhere near Tewi without getting scammed out of all her money.

Not that that wouldn't be hilarious.

True, still the Eientei people should be coming to the village every so often to sell medicine and while I think it would be a stupid idea to steal them I should point out that Kaguya has what are potentially some of the strongest items in Gensokyo (it's noted that pretty much all her spell cards are based on the items from her Impossible Requests)
 
... Does "Tool" extend to medicine and poisons?

Because even if we cannot get a hold on Kaguya's Treasury, Eientei is bound to have interesting lunar technology.
 
[x] Volunteer for the village guard. You've heard some crazy stories from those guys in the bar.

Here is my plan: get some cash and experience, then start some incident by 'accident', become an incident resolver, ???, Profit.

Being a guard is a relatively safe way for the first one, then we can move on to some minor solo we exterminations for experience. Then we start an incident somehow, after that, we become not just a youkai exterminator, but an actual incident resolver.

My current idea for an incident is a 'payback' by humans, since youkai has been troubling them for a long time, payback would be a fair game right? It shouldn't be anything too bad of course, but still something that would be an inconvenience to them. By being the mastermind, we'd at least be a Stage 5 boss, if not Stage 6 or Extra Stage.

With that said, until then, we wouldn't want to be a stage boss or even mid-boss, because there's almost never an occurrence where a boss of previous incident gets a promotion in another incident. And going with the pattern, almost everyone that graduates into a playable character/incident resolver are from Stage 4-6. They're also usually an notable member of a faction, so either we create one or join one.

Yes, Cirno is a giant exception to those analysis, but we all know that she IS the Strongest. She's beaten Utsuho and forced Marisa to go all out against her. This is before her true form as The Cirnoroth.Yeah, I'm joking. but seriously, I subscribe to the theory that she will eventually be an actual Youkai instead of just a fairy
 
Thats a good way to think about it, unfortunately SV is really impatient and wants things nao.....
