She pays me to say "too charismatic for her own good" when we meet someone new, but I'm pretty sure it's got something to do with her Magic. Not that she'll tell me what it is but...

Probably some form of infatuation magic then, though it seems to wear off after she leaves. Given that it seems to wear off Protag-chan after the first visit it doesn't seem to have much utility unless it only sticks if the user wants it to, or it works on some people consistently and not others.

Cherry knows what's up. With her magic, ranged attacks are pretty ideal. She doesn't even need to snipe exactly, just keep enough distance that nobody can counter attack before she's gone again. You go girl, don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

Ranged is ideal, but the issue is that if she isn't good enough at bows her speed will mean nothing because she'll never hit the target. It might be worth recommending some other weapon she might have a greater affinity with.

Since we seem to have gotten away from the protagonist's plot orbit I guess our role is going to be

1. Jaded Veteran who protag meets/needs to be saved in a few arcs
2. Damsel in over her head that needs to be saved in Arc 2-3
3. A completely independent character that does her own thing in the background and at most gets mentioned in passing.

3'd be nice.

[X] A smaller ax

Professional contrarian, that's me.

Always possible she could dial it up further, still it could possibly be used to take an opponent off guard. So that's at least moderately useful for combat against small groups of opponents.

Fair, though it ultimately depends how much time she already spend training to see if improvement is still a valid option. Then again, she doesn't strike me as much of a combatant, so maybe it doesn't matter in the first place.

Earth, wind and fire Babey!!!
[X] You think those are Wind and Fire wheels?

Also, nice to see you alive again!

What do we know OOC? I didn't see anything besides "darkness related" in the chapters/character description.

By the way, @Anya Homura: Is Johanna lesbian or bisexual? Not really relevant, but I'm kinda curious.
OOC? I have an idea, but I'm keeping what she can do secret until her Magic unlocks. More fun that way.

And Johanna is, in fact, pansexual panromantic. Not that she knows that yet, she thinks she's straight or maybe bi.

[X] A smaller ax.

As much as wind and fire wheels are cool as heck, we're no martial artist to be using them.

Stick with things that can be used relatively untrained for now. It's the smart thing to do.

she thinks she's straight
That's an interesting thing to think after Alva.

Oh, hey, if Alva doesn't steal all the attention, we might for once see a main character in a SV quest who's actually also interested in guys. (Off the top of my head I can think of two others, one of them is a guy himself ... probably the first bisexual guy I've seen on SV/SB ever.)

You know, this gives me the amusing image of Johanna waving around the wheels followed by Alva deciding that's she's just as bad as Cherry at picking weapons.
I mean, I wouldn't exactly wish for the vote to be a fake out but her being all embarrassmed after trying to act cool with the shiny is fun to imagine.

No love for the swords. You people do not know how to make an Isekai protag. :V

I... would actually kind of like that honestly.

The axe is really the only relatively simple weapon among the three, the other two basically have a "minimum height skill requirement to wield" thing, so it's actually more of a test than a "okay, what do you honestly want to use?" thing.

Take anything but the axe and she ends up shoving a knife into our hands.

I got transported to another world and didn't even become the main protagonist! (Isekai Quest)
didn't even become the main protagonist!

Voting for the ax myself, I wouldn't mind at all either. It'd just be the other votes I'd feel sorry for.

More than that, just imagine of all the bad mojo picking the standard option might give us. Every step closer to genericness could catch us in the Orbit of Protagonist-kun.

That's an interesting thing to think after Alva.

As a trans pan woman I can speak from experience from multiple angles that rationalization and denial are two really potent drugs.

Due to my personal preferences if this become a romance quest at all I'd prefer a F/F thing at the end of the day, but I definitely wouldn't mind attraction to guys too; like if you're going to have a pan character, might as well not make it a fancy word for "gay", you know? Pan people get that enough IRL at times. But this also might not really come up at all! We'll see.

And on a non-shipping note

Then again, she doesn't strike me as much of a combatant, so maybe it doesn't matter in the first place.

Honestly I think having the both of us in a non-combatant position would be best from a meta standpoint (less of a footprint), and from a non-meta standpoint: there are an endless amount of reasons why, no matter what, Protag-chan simply isn't up to being in combat right now. When we know more about the world and the kind of things we'd be dealing with, get training with a weapon, know what the fuck to do with our magic, and so on, I think it'd be good to get into the fray and maybe like... make a name for ourselves?

But if push comes to shove at this point definitely should stay away from the frontlines, and it'd be cool if we had a friend there to be there non-frontlining with us.
